This is the best video I've ever seen on traveling with wigs. Great job, Denise! I travel with mine wrapped in hairnet, inside gallon size ziplock bag. One wig per bag. And when flying, I put them in my personal bag, not even my carry-on because sometimes the carry-on gets gate checked.
I just started wearing wigs and will be flying soon. I will wear one with velcro fasteners. Since 2016 when I donated to a particular political candidate, I get “randomly” chosen for an extra search almost every time. We’ll see how it goes this time, lol. Choosing a wig close to your ID photo is great advice! Going to Vegas to see The B52’s in concert so I’m going to wear a poofy one that night!
Thank you Denise. That bag is fantastic for a wedding or fancy hair. It could be fixed up ahead of time with mostly last minute edits for when you get there. I think that's amazing. Wish I had that for my son's wedding.
I the 70s when there were so many hijackings and wigs and hair pieces were popular they really checked better than today. I wore my hair pulled up with a hair piece in back, they would run a knitting needle through the piece. They even removed my toddler’s diapers.
I absolutely love the curly human hair wigs! These look amazing on you! All my life I dreamed of having curly hair instead of the fine, straight hair I had. I wrote to the website you mentioned, for the first wig you wore, so I will see what they say about sending to Canada.

In 1966 my grandma travelled with her wigs from Italy to Kenya because her pregnant daughter was about to give birth to me over there. I wonder how she did it at the time :) Anyways, thanks for the video because tomorrow I'll be taking a plane to go meet my newborn grandson in yet another country and I only started wearing wigs in December so I did need the advice!
Wonderful video. Most of my travel is done by driving, which makes it much easier for taking my wigs. I agree with you that all my synthetic wigs do fine in heavy duty baggies. I’ve never had a problem and that is the only way I’ve packed my synthetic girls. Re: human hair wigs, I will not pack. I might wear the one and only human hair wig I own on my head and not pack it. I still have my own bio hair which is very curly and I can always just have my bio hair for plane travel. Best video ever. Thank you. 🦊
Thanks for sharing! I just came back from a trip and only took 3 synthetic wigs (based on your previous videos about care) and put them in the silk bags. They traveled well and I was super comfortable in my synthetic hair.
Great video! Though I don't travel much any more, this good to know info is now in my memory bank and besides, there are always peripheral tips and tricks to glean from you. I just made a short video on how I travel to the gym for my PT and to my weekend dog shows. I just saw your video this morning and watched as I am going on a cruise and Im concerned about TSA and traveling on the airplane. I found your review really helpful. I did do a lot of research when looking for a travel bag but nothing had storage when you look for wig travel cases. So I found a purse like bag that allows me to store my wigs for travel as well as my tools/accessories. I believe it is designed for make up but it works perfect for wigs. I only have synthetic wigs so the bag option allows me to fit 3 easily and if i removed my huge amount of wire head bands I could easily store 1 or 2 long wigs or 3 more shorter ones. It might be worth a look. The problem with the way im traveling is I like to carry on my two bags (zero checked), but for a long cruise I am not sure how this would work. Maybe I could repack the entire purse/bag to hold all my toiletries as well? I think bringing 3 wigs should be enough for me. I want to watch your (swim/wig) video as that is a huge concern for a cruise for me so I am excited to go look that up. Ill link the purse/bag im using for those that watch your amazing video to see another travel option. It is about the same size as your travel case but has awesome storage for wig grips, and opens flat. It holds sooo much, including hair accessories with velcro attached compartments. Hi Denise, I so enjoy your videos and have learned so much from you! I did purchase this curly wig by emma hair piece and it arrived today, I already washed it but for being a human hair piece it really looks like a shiny synthetic wig even after washing it! It is really shiny! I took the curly wig by Emma hair piece and compared it to my human hair wig by K& S custom wigs and there is no comparison really, the Emma hair piece is definitely shiny and my other human hair wig is real human hair looking! Pretty disappointed so I know I probably wont be buying from their company any longer and just will buy a heat friendly synthetic wig if I don't want any shine! Kim, ran across and older video regarding your thyroid problems. I havent found any updates and was really wondering if you have figured out what was going on and how you feel. ......as for wigs setting off alarm , i have never have that and i was in Europe in April and had a wig on in every plane . No problem.
I got stopped going through security travelling from London to Cyprus. I even cut the ear tabs off so there was no metal to set the machine off. After getting searched and going through another machine, I asked the lady security officer what it could be and explained I was wearing a wig. She said that the machines are now very sensitive and if it detects you have something 'extra' on you it will set the alarm off.

Of all the comments I've ever seen about the xray machines at the airport, I've only seen two people say that their wig tripped it... this is a common discussion in some of the Facebook groups and so I've probably seen about 200 women talk about this... so it is very rare but not unheard of. I would make sure to wear a wig without any clips or combs in them. Most wigs have a small metal stay in the ear tab, but it is super tiny and very unlikely it would ever be picked up. They are smaller and have less metal than buttons.
I wore a wig through security in February and it didn't set anything off. I actually did tell one of the agents ahead of time and he was super sweet and complimented me on it.

Remy Hair means that the Cuticles of the hair are all going in the same directly like they do with our bio hair. All Remy Hair is human hair, but not all human hair is remy. If it isn't remy there there is a risk that it will tangle a lot because when the cuticles are facing down they are smooth, and when they are facing up they are rough. I do have a non-remy wig and it doesn't tangle so I think there is a risk but it isn't a guarantee.
