Nice! Where are you heading? I can give you lots of tips, we’ve been to Cartagena, tayrona/Santa Marta, medellin, leticia (Amazon) etc

We invested in a Garmin Montana 700i before we got to Mexico. Was a good move, not just for GPS when you don't have cell service, but the Inreach to tell my boss I'd be late to work the next day when we got stuck in the desert! 🤣

Ahhh that’s actually a very good idea! I was looking into those actually. I didn’t realise they could do that either!?

@@lifeofascrambler Yeah, the "i" is or the Inreach. We needed both, so gave the Montana a shot. Reviews were pretty divisive. People either love them or hate them. My first time using a GPS in many years, first time ever on a bike. Works great, and the Inreach is super nice to have a satellite messenger.

@@ScramblerStories Nice, thats great advice! are they expensive? and is it easy to load GPX files from something like Rever?

I've been using Garmin sat nav for a while but check out Carpe Iter too. It's basically what Garmin could be according to Nomad Sweden in his channel (and others). You can upload whatever you like, has roadbook features, handlebar buttons to move maps and things around to save taking hands off bars. Android based (no OS version unfortunately). Not cheap but none of these things are. Not sure if it does sat comms, I use a small Garmin Inreach for that and emergencies. Good to see you are out of Oz and what a cool first choice in Columbia.

Great video. Haven't been off blacktop in the dark yet...but that wasn't in your plans either! Other than this, looked like a blast.

haha thanks! I would definitely recommend not doing it in a foreign country 😂 are you in the USA?

@@lifeofascrambler I am. I live in the state of Tennessee on the border with North Carolina, which are divided by the Appalachian mountains. Good paved and unpaved riding all around. Good examples are the world famous Tail of the Dragon twisty paved road and it's less sophisticated cousin, which we call the Redneck Dragon which is only partly paved 😁 Both roads run along opposite boundaries of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
