Cantabile is THE most perfect name. It’s music related and it’s Latin meaning is ‘Worthy to be sung’. It’s almost as if the boat and you were all meant to be together.
I'm sure Andy would have mentioned it, but you should get the tracking (wheel alignment) checked on the van or the new tyre might go the way of the old one. It shouldn't wear like that if the alignment is correct.
Ben, as a musician I am surprised you did not recognise "Cantabile". It is Italian and means "music in a smooth singing style". The other day I read that some councils are going to start fining narrow boat users who burn wood and produce wood smoke. Apparently some disabled and low income boat owners are worried about keeping warm this winter if they cannot burn scavenged wood from beside the canal. Boat owners with permanent moorings can get some sort of grant to help upgrading their stoves. It all sounds worrying for boat owners as the fines can be up to £300 a time, not good news if you are not well off.
James from the channel “The Narrowboat that James Built”, talked about and explained the winter fuel subsidy (or whatever it’s called) on his channel last winter. The subsidy was not extended to continuous cruisers then, even after a lot of protests and fight-back from the boating community. Live aboard boaters living in marinas are eligible for the subsidy. Anyway, if you’re interested in understanding the situation better, James’s videos are great at explaining it and from the perspective of a continuous cruiser 🙂.
Cantabile - (can-tab-ee-lay) is used as a musical instruction, (I’m a pianist and saxophonist), to be played ‘in a singing style’ - so like others have said ideal for you!
Cantabile is a good name - unless it's pronounced wrongly! Some more musical suggestions come to mind - Harmonia Chordiality Grace note Tonic Supertonic B Natural ♮ Minim ... and breve Then again, if you ever get a house cat for the little boat (if Alan approves) you could say you record at "Tabby Road" I'll get me coat.
Hi Guys, loving your videos. I`m a hgv driver so watching your lifestyle on the canals is a different and lovely pace of life to me (Emily made me laugh when she said you were doing 12 miles a day to get to the Marina but were going to slow things down. lol) . Keep an eye on your tyres as the wire showing through makes them illegal and the Police will give you 3 points and £100 fine for each one + more dangerous as they can blow out. Take care and look forward to your future adventures x 🙂
Ben, I am now a Martin D42 owner. My dad left me this guitar, and I never knew he even owned the D42. ...Oh, and...a different Martin, from the early 1960's...a Martin Indiana......SAX! Different company, same name......and I'm a reedmaker...double bagpipe chanter reeds, and single reeds for drones, but I have always been curious about single reeded woodwinds, that play a range of notes, not just a single drone note, and now I have the Sax my dad learned about music on, when he was a kid! And it's in great shape. He cared for it well.
Yes, you need to get your wheels balanced and tracking done occasionally, especially after new tyres. Tyres are SOOO important. They keep u on the road safely.
Cantabile, translates to ‘singable’ meaning ‘suitable to sing’ synonym ‘musical’. …. Sounds perfect! Although not overly romantic. And English version maybe something like ‘Music box’ , ‘Shanty’
I completely agree with comments, my and my partner just looked up Cantabile, it’s music related and so relevant to your planned use of the boat xx we think (nothing to do with us lol) that you should consider this name. It’s perfect xx
Alright guys it's David from yesterday and this morning I would advise you to get up the next lock and go another one up to get out of the pound as quickly as you can! You will understand when you see neither top paddles work
You MUST call the boat Cantabile!! It's an italian musical term for in a singing style or singable. It's the perfect name for you with Benny's musical side. Cantabile is pronounced can-ta-beel-eh (eh is hard like like air in fair). Are you learning the flute by yourself Benny? A suggestion if I may.. make sure the right hand little finger is always on the low C sharp key except when playing D. ❤Love your vids.. ❤
You probably know this by now but the tire wear you showed is due to an alignment problem where the tire is pointing slightly outward relative to your direction of travel. That wears the rubber on the inside of the tire. Probably happening on the other front tire too since the misalignment usually distributes between the two front tires.
Hi the word Cantabile is an Italian musical term meaning singable or song like. Very appropriate don't you think and beautiful name for the boat maybe the end part is pronounced as in the French word bilet ie cantabilet x
Bingo Beans, Bingo Beans, Bingo Beans! Can you tell I rather like that name!? 😂 On a side note, Emily’s expression on her face when she first tasted her food is quickly becoming one of my favourite parts of your vlog, after Alan of course! 😊
Hello from Kansas! How about "Tag-a-long" for the name? Looks like you're having everything hit you at once, maintenance wise, but I suppose it's better now than later this winter. I'm looking forward to seeing her in the water and moored up with you. A lot easier to travel to work on her! Thanks!
Cantabile or biley, is beautiful music. and Benny will be making plenty of that on her soon. Had no idea you were so practical. you will end up with a beautiful boat soon.
Before you bin your batteries it may be worth getting a decent electrican to put a meter on them and also check the output on your solar panel controller first.Lithium are so expensive and it may be a charging fault.😊
It's always nice to have a handy Andy nearby to help with fixing things! Cantabile would be pronounced CanTa bah-lay and that's not a bad name. Emily loves Moor Hens, so how about Moor Hen of the Sea? Singing Swan? Etude? Vignette? All kinds of musical terms would work. Great to see it all coming together!
If your van tyre was ok on outside, but worn through on inside of wheel, then you probably have the wheel tracking out, or a worn suspension bush. Great progress on "the speck" though, which would be my choice for a name for the little un!
It's amazing how we all get to relish your vlog. I think you guys are terrific. I would like to let you know that Sept 23 has been prophesied as one of the worst days in history. It's due to the sun's solar flares and electro magnetic frequencies on the earth. Volcanic, seismic, storms and water levels all causing different anomalies. The advise given is to eat well, feed your animals and stay away from too many people. It's no wonder your batteries now need replacing, solar panels, 20:52 cooler temperatures, and tire problems. It's a global thing. It continues well into October. Stay safe and close to one another. Give Alan a hug and continue. Lots of love❤ from Arizona 🇺🇸.
Hi guys loving your vids about the name maybe keep Cantible. In music, cantabile [kanˈtaːbile], an Italian word, means literally "singable" or "songlike". In instrumental music, it is a particular style of playing designed to imitate the human voice. How appropriate especially a you are into music and going to make it a studio kind of seems just right. Best wishes from Cape Town 🥰
Good morning Emily and Ben, I love watching your videos as they are very calming as well as fun. You are both one of my two favourite narrowboat couples
If I had a boat it would be called “Calypso”, with a nod to the underwater explorer Jacque Cousteau. Probably before your time Ben and Emily. Love your videos and now with the little boat it’s gotten a boost. 💕
Great Vvlog guys the little boat is looking pretty good.... a name ...ummmm can we give guesses.... I still think Little Tiger is a good name, but can't wait to see what name you guys have picked.see you next week.
Music ,while you work ,Benny ,Bed for Emily dad ,Benny you are just like kid in a candy shop , love the look on your face with this boat ,what ever you use it for ,i wish you both well ,👍👍
Hi Ben & Emily , loving your new little addition 😊you should call her’ Little BE with a little & in between the BE hope to see you in the cut again one day 😊
It's not pronounced "canter-bile". It's Italian, "can- tah- bee-lay" Can ta bi le. Go with it, it could not be a more appropriate name for the little boat. Love the music in this one. Sorry about your battery fails. It must be a worry to all who have paid out £0000's on electric cars! And now, our rulers want to ban log burning stoves, across the board. Off grid, you can try to be, but the bastards still want to grind you down.
You you know what your will be using little pod boat for? Bens music studio, Mini pet veg studio. Alan's private apartment A Bed and Breakfast for extra income?? So many options
Ive played my favourite song of yours to death and band camp have told me its time to cough up the cash... lol.. I think youre both so good at doing youre jobs, and also diy isnt easy, well done! Im very invested in your little boat now ❤❤❤❤
Hi Ben and Emily. You’ve done loads on the little boat. I guess you’ve now already named it as the next video has already been filmed. Can’t wait to see how you get on with an outboard motor. Take care. Nick
