Join me as I explore more of The Poacher Line! This time I'm visiting three of the stations on the way to Skegness and asking the all important question about the windiness of Lincolnshire!

Thanks Sarah - another group of stations I wanted to see ticked off - you’ll have to get all the way to Skegness at some point. Love the station buildings at Seaford and all the timber details - they sure knew how to build stuff back then! Best Duncan

Spent a lot of time on this part of Lincolnshire as a kid. Especially Boston (with its stump)

I used to live near this station in the village of Great Hale, and delivered newspapers to the station masters house and the signal man's house from around 1967 to 1971. In 1961, what I think is now the museum was open as a ticket office and waiting room on that side of the station. Similarly from 1961 up to 1972 to my knowledge the wooden building used to be in operation as a waiting room. When I was delivering newspapers, the Pocklington family still lived in the large house in between the windmill and the station.

Thank you so much for all the information David! It's really great to hear from somebody who knows the area!

Really interesting video, just one correction, Sleaford North and Sleaford South signalboxes were abolished about a decade ago, the "Joint Line" from Peterborough to just short of Gainsborough is worked from Lincoln signalling centre. It's a shame you didn't have time to walk down to Sleaford West, it's one of very few gated level crossings still worked by a wheel in the signalbox.

A mixed review on the packed lunch! Nutella sandwich was a winner but the Sainsburys salt & vinegar crisps were a let down unfortunately! The lunch was redeemed by some grapes though! All in all I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️

How are you getting on ticking off EMR 170s for haulage?

No, no, no Sarah, if you want the windiest place in the world, Nuneaton railway station will always beat anything It's why we know it as Windy-eaton
@sarahwiththetrains

I'll have to pop over to Nuneaton verify that claim sir!
