Found your vlog this morning and really enjoyed it. Especially like the practical hints and tips for driving your motorhome through France. I also enjoy a map Mrs Slaw! Off to watch another episode :)
Very informative video. Rouen is a nightmare but strangely enough I have never had problems travelling north. Lovely night-time view of Château Amboise at end of video. The Jagger family camped in Amboise each summer when Mick was a child - perhaps at Île d'Or? He is now the owner of Château La Fourchette in Pocé-sur-Cisse just north of Amboise. You should have called in! 🤣
Bon soir, les Slaws. Ça va tres bien aujour d’hui , j’espére? Et .... voici Madame Slaw .... qui est tres heureux pour faire le Grande Vacances.🤪🤪 Monsieur Slaw never misses an opportunity for an affectionate pat at the Peage pay stations .... does he!!! 🤪🤪🤪 Et aussi, voici le Unimog camper rouge, qui s’arrête juste à côté de nous dans le camping. ( I’m not sure that it was actually a Unimog, though, but it looked very similar to one!! 🤪🤪) The chateau Amboise looked absolutely stunning all lit up and night. Thank you for taking a stroll to show it to us. 👌👌 A lovely little jaunt for day 2 (Sat)... En vous va, and happy and safe travels 👌👌
its march '22 and i'm watching you. you said rouen. i got lost there, it was awful. at one point i turned onto a four lane road coming towards me. a lorry driver asked me where i was going and took me to the boulougne/calais road. from 2002 to 2012 i travelled from calais to bouzigues/toulouse every summer. i'm really enjoying your french adventure.
Your Vlogs are really useful - thank you. I think I remember you mentioning Collioure in one of your Vlogs. You’ve obviously been there - did you do a vlog for it? We hope to get there next year taking in the Millau viaduct en route. Thank you.
Thanks for a lovely trip through France we will follow you all the way to Port Grimaud, we have done the South of France 8 or 9 times whilst a bit expensive worth every penny we love it take care you four safe trip.
Hi Steve, thanks very much for watching! Unfortunately we don’t know what make our HUD is. We bought it a few years ago off Amazon, but it has no labels or makers marks on.
another fantastic day travelling through France with you all, we really enjoy looking the scenery from your van,the scenery looks amazing, the dogs are very happy as well,by the way Mrs Slaw cooked your chicken and corgette bake today....lovely.
oh ann your so fluent in french and now i know why you used to work there would love to see mr slaw make some arrangements it would be so funny his french seems not as good as yours can you imagine 🤣🤣🤣🤣only kidding simon x
some fantastic scenery along your route today, highlight for me was at 11:09 when you both said "ooooow" at the same time as that fast motorcycle entered the tunnel, by heck he was motoring eh?, fantastic noise tho. lol, watched that bit 4 times......
Looks fantastic and good to see your meticulous planning working out Mrs Slaw, really interesting, and looking forward to the rest of your trip. Stay safe.👍
We always mess up the turn coming off the bridge in Rouen and end up driving along a load of railway tracks full of vandalised trains. It must be the road layout vs sat nav.
Hi we are in France Normandy watched your videos last night on WiFi driving through France ..loved them ,your a great double act , informative and entertaining...thanks one question we are first timers the constant change in speeds off toll roads is difficult with Ducato dials so small do you have an answer? We have satnav and Google maps but that is still not easy to see
Hi! Thanks for watching and welcome 🤗 We had the same issue with our Ducato dials. We bought a Heads Up Device (you can see it in the corner of our dash). Unfortunately we’ve had it so long we’ve no idea of the make or model, but we did get it from Amazon. Hope that helps and enjoy your French adventures 🚍☀️
Je me souviens quand vous nous avez suivis autour de plusieurs géocaches dans le sud de la France après avoir vu notre nom sur le journal de la cache. Nous avons ensuite visité votre cache à la Grotte la Clamouse. Merci pour ce vlog.
Enjoyed watching that journey and how you went about everything. Congrats on successfully negotiating Rouen! 🙌 and what a beautifully lit castle to finish on. Perfect.
We look forward to reaching your destination in Port Grimaud as having visited the area numerous times in caravans, and motor homes .Bon voyage on your trip
The speed cameras on the motorway are mainly in the centre divide and they are not tall ( they are like a triangle in shape).. ..just above the barrier divide..in some regions the crafty buggers are painted green...in the good old days on the toll routes when they had bodies in the booth...your initial ticket was time stamped...so when you paid they'd do a speed calculation...and if you handed over your Debit or CC to pay the fine was deducted without your knowledge...until you checked later the bank balance...We always use the Ulys e-toll badge tag which can be used in Italy Spain and Portugal.
We remember the toll booth personnel. Been driving in Europe since 1995. Times have definitely changed over the years. We’ve not seen any of those speed cameras you describe though? Just the ones at the side of the road. We’ll keep a look out 👍🏻
Morning xx I think if you get to the pay booth on the tolls and press the button and tell them you are in a camping car you will pay a reduced rate. :) zone 2 not 3 :) xx
@@mrsslaw9242 ahhh wow you guys know everything ;) thought I could help but you got It covered. Should have known Mrs Slaw would be on it ;) Loving your travels
Good evening, just about to travel to S France now we have some diesel. Thanks for your travel tips which have provided invaluable already and enjoying your vlogs. In Ambois you showed us an Aire and Municipal campsite. Is there a price difference and why did you choose the campsite? (Campsite looked much prettier). Enjoy your trip. Reading your guide books recommended too.
Hi, glad you found our vlogs helpful! The aire was half the price of the campsite. We chose the campsite as Slaw likes to put the table and chairs out for a beer on arrival and morning coffee. You can’t do this on an aire. Just our choice really.
And another question if I may. I notice that you always pay in cash or card at the peage machines. In our car on previous holidays we have always used an Emovis Tag (Sanef) and like the simplicity and convenience. We have not yet taken our MH to France and wonder why you don’t use one in your MH. I’d be interested in your thoughts. Thanks again.
Hi Glyn, we don’t usually do lots of toll roads so never bothered with a tag before. Slaw also says he wouldn’t get chance to smack my bum with a tag 😱🤣
Hi 👋. A fantastic blog, we are planning our first abroad holiday and this is really helping thanks! What was the book you had with you - All the aires? Do we need to buy the north and south as they seem to be split up? Tracey
Thanks Tracey! My All the Aires France book is from 2011 and covers both north and South. I wasn’t aware the new ones span two books! But then again, ours is VERY out of date 🤪
Hi guys, loving the videos, and feeling quite upset I'm not travelling with you, but I've been meaning to mention for some time the sound on your videos is quite low, could you increase this pplleeaassee😊
HI Dave. Apologies for the sound I am editing on the road so to speak and missed adjusting the mic level. I will make sure it’s better for the next one. Thanks for the feedback.
Great video, we’re thinking of getting over the water, new to Motorhome but had caravans for years. What’s the make of your heads up speed display, I’m quite tall and can’t always see speedometer for steering wheel.
We have really struggled in the past we n Rouen! I went to Park Lane college to do my Certificate in travel skills. Maybe the cohort after you? I think my tutor was called Mike Dodds?? We did a residential in Ibiza 1983/4 ish?
The Travel bits London,Southhampton and a week Skiing to Söll in Austria still have the Schnapps shot glass from there. Drank a few class mates Schnapps glasses so they could take it home not every one likes Schnapps
