Your Rugeley mooring was about 50 yards from our house, as the crow flies. Just beyond the canal side row. Loved your take on our town. The new moorings you passed were put in in 2022. The gang moved to a stoppage at Wolverley but they'll be back in March to finish off.

Chugged past the Armitage Shanks factory last year and it was obviously Quality Control day. Repeated smashing sounds. Then much further along north of bridge 36 near Branston a heap of smashed WCs at a landfill site to rival the Great Pyramids. I feel privileged to have experienced the birth, use, death, and burial of a (once) British icon 🚽 😢

That beautiful, calming sound emanating from Aslan’s engine is all due to the internal timing of the crank. You are correct in that the sound is transmitted directly to Aslan by the way the engine is secured. In the states we had John Deere Tractors that had a similar sound in the 1950's. Aslan sounds strong and should last for years to come as long as you perform regularly scheduled maintenance like oil changes and replace the occasional parts that ware out like your injectors or pumps. Keep chugging.

When I got the notification for the new episode, I pulled it up on my phone at work, plugged in one ear bud, and hid my phone kind of under my monitor so it couldn't be seen by anyone walking by my desk...lol...I guess you could say I was excited. 😊 As always, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks Kevin, the pie looked absolutely marvellous, I'm pretty sure that Aslan's engine will always have sounded very similar to how it does now as it's a huge twin cylinder diesel pushing out shed loads of torque. I had never gotten around to checking how Covid hit your narrowboat scene, but I had worried for you every once in a while in the back of my mind. Would he be scared, paralyzed as so many were by the worldwide phenomenon? Perhaps give up the whole undertaking, as several other struggles had challenged the process? Hi Kevin. Love your show. So relaxing and enjoyable! I was just watching this episode and you ask why Rugeley has nothing but the church left from the 14th century, well, that's because In 1709 Rugeley was hit with two disasters. One was a fire that ravaged the town (the town had been hit by a fire sixty years prior to this too, making this the second such disaster) and the other was when the Rising Brook which runs through the town broke its banks and flooded the town. Poor old Rugeley! Happy trails.

That is one of the most beautiful stretches of canal that you have ever videoed! It was a great place to celebrate the new year. Thank you for a great ride.

Another entertaining and enjoyable Vlog and thanks for sparing us by not filming the utter devastation of the countryside that the construction of the new HS2 (High Speed Train) has caused. So many old trees have been felled, and what for? - just to get to London 20 minutes quicker! Those moorings by Wood End Lock used to be lovely and peaceful, but not any more.
