Thanks for the news Jarrod. I get notifications so I'll be checking in frequently leading up to the Travers. Nice field this year, should be a good race.
Dornoch is one of the logical contenders. I do not know how overlooked he will be after back-to-back Grade 1 wins, but the price might be okay in what is shaping up as a deep renewal of the Travers.
Thorpedo Anna has been a star in the sophomore filly division. Let's see if she can step up and run faster and gives the males a run for their money in the Travers.
I think Juddmonte's Batten Down learned a lot from his last race and should be a nice underlay in exoctics in the Travers. We know BD can get the distance, the pace should be interesting. *Jarrod...any idea on where the other Juddmonte horse - Dragoon Guard is going to next? Wonder if he might be pointing to the PA Derby.
The Jim Dandy was a good test for Batten Down and he ended up a clear third in a solid effort. I can see him moving forward in the Travers, especially if he can get out there and dictate the pace. I have not heard what is next for Dragoon Guard. After he won the West Virginia Derby, Brad Cox said that he would sit down with the owners and decide what to do next.
Thorpedo Anna and Dornoch are both talented. They both have similar running styles and it will be fun to see what happens if they match strides at some point in the race.
