Last month, Sol Messing and I took a mountain biking trip that included seven days of riding across the Dolomites in the Italian Alps.
In total we rode about 120 miles, climbed approximately 10k feet but descended a ridiculous 65k+ feet! It was my first time doing an international mountain biking trip, and everything went quite smooth for us. One of my biggest concerns was related to our bike bags being misplaced, but nothing of the sort happened.
We did have our share of mishaps though. There were three more Americans in our group, one of them fell 50 feet off a ledge on the first day but escaped with minor scratches. We were all shook up after that and ride extra careful. The third day, another one of our group members re-broke his collarbone as we were stopping for lunch. He was the most skilled in our group and it was painful to see him have to turn back. But, such are the risks of this sport we love!
We booked the trip through Big Mountain Bike Adventures and they were all that and some more. Our guide, Werner Ebner is a world class rider and an all round amazing human being. Super grateful to call him a friend now, and be able to continue following his adventures across the world. Check out his insta: www.instagram....
This definitely was a trip of a lifetime for me, and I wanted to share this information for anyone else who might be looking to do something similar. I put together a short edit of our Dolomites trip below. After riding the Dolomites, we had two extra days which we put to good use riding Bikepark Innsbruck downhill park in Austria which was a total blast. I will post a video of those trails later.
If you have any questions re: logistics or anything , feel free to reach out!

That is an insane ride and video. Wow. Was that all on one day? It looked like you were riding on the moon in parts of the video. Incredible Paruj.

Taylor, it was so epic!! We still need to get out for a ride!! This was about 6 days of riding. Some trails were the same soldiers used during WWI, particularly those towards the end with the moon like rocks :)
