the difference between travis and other drummers is his heart. you can tell he is giving it all he's got every night. he drums harder and faster than anyone. class act. long live blink!! see you in san diego and dallas:)
I just this at Jones Beach (LI, NY) and had no idea about the show or the solo. All I know is that was insane! I have seen some of the best drummers play live (Neil Peart, Danny Carey etc) and I have never seen anything like that. He does this all after surviving a plane crash. Sick, f'n sick!!!!
He's a pretty good drummer, and here he's making the most of his talent utilizing technology and showmanship for the overall effect, which is awesome. Yeah Tommy Lee did the moving drum riser thing in the 80s, and Joey J. more recently, but the point is he takes it a step further, the trick evolves here, and looks even more spectacular. Besides, if you're an average teenage kid at the show you're in awe having never seen this before. Take away the technology and it's an average solo.
For fucks sake, there is no such thing as "the best drummer in the world", everyone just has their favorites. Travis is a wicked drummer and has sick flow, that can't be argued.
yea i don't know if its like a real band yet though i mean me and my friend just jam we made some recordings but we've got one mic only. its not bad it picks up the drums pretty but yea. i guess we'll wait and see how things go. were just havin fun :)
@baevere It dosn't matter.... you can have tons of drums/cymbals but you wouldn't know what to do with them... or u can have small kit and play like a killer... look at portnoy on "While my guitar gently whips"
I guess it is difficult to compare Travis Barker to other drummers, like Pear, Portnoy, Steve Smith, Dave Lombardo. Their styles are very different. While Those other guys rely on skill while Travis relies on showmanship. It all depends on which style you like better.
i guess but he's been playing since he was like 4 years old and he used to be pretty skinny back in the day. but now in like the past few years it seems like he's been filling out. and plus u mostly use forearm, wrists, and fingers with drumming. but yea he moves pretty crazy i guess it affects his whole body lol
Oh and "who gives You the right to Criticize those of us who think he has 0 talent" Well Who gives you the right to ccriticise travis who is like one of the best drummers ever. Dude think about shit before you say it okay
Always the same argumentation in Travis Barker's videos... There is no point to discuss that, you won't find the answer by arguing with each-other, trying to find OR NOT if it's "the best drummer in the world". He's really good, he's professional, he has his style... final point
@lethalforce The drummers for true metal bands dont need to replicate this because their skill and technicality is light years beyond travis barkers, drummers like Scott Travis and Nicko McBrain are extremely technical, they dont play fast music (but easily can) and I guarantee you they can do this solo, they'll just play it a lot better
ahh man that's way out of my range haha, I live in montreal. Good luck on finding a singer though and good luck with your band. Let me know when you have a myspace and recordings, I'll check it out.
@Convisis I know, it';s sad, ain't it? Imagine if other, more versatile, more competent drummers had the same popularity as him. Imagine if kids picked up drums because of Dennis Chambers, or Vinnie Colaiuta, or Steve Gadd, or Carter Beauford; they might actually grow up to be good drummers. But hey, Dennis Chambers made the prodigy Tony Royster Jr. pick up the sticks, so there is still some hope left.
I definitely understand not thinking he's the best (He's not number one to me either), but what i Don't understand is how some people don't think he should be ranked at all. I mean, c'mon.
