JJ Redick asks Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, if he actually thinks LeBron James could play tight end in the NFL. Subscribe to our RU-vid channel for more!
Yes yes, no hyperbole detected, I'm even sure he would of made a fantastic horse Jockey as well. Though His 6"8 frame would have really shined as a figure skater, or maybe even more so, as the goat solo synchronized swimmer. Truly, he could of gone to the top in ANY sport he chose.
Ngl when JJ said “pick up players come up and say they try to shoot like me, but obviously they can’t shoot like me” is one the most honest jj inner d bag moments on the pod.
My high school gym coach played against JJ when he was a teen. He said JJ was def cocky talked a lot of trash on the court and outside of basketball was just a normal suburban frat boy so the dbag comment doesn’t surprise me lol
@@boomboominroom you may have missed the point. it’s not that it isn’t true, I’m sure JJ would outshoot anyone I know. its that his brain thinks “but you can’t” when these people are trying to imitate him as a form of flattery. It’s an overall cocky outlook that’s really good for sports but not really considered polite.
@@4wayy_x363 yeah exactly, most of us that play sports have that inner confidence in some way or another. JJ maybe more than most, and deservingly so lol
Sports is on a 50/50 horizon. The first “50 being athleticism or skill. The other “50” being straight mentality. The lebron has a rare type of mentality when it comes to sports. When you have both those combinations that’s generational talent....
Depends on what is the outcome. To simply make a pro sports team is more than 70/30 with athleticism. To be great in pro sports may be 30/70 with the mindset dominant. For this reason, sure a lot of NBA players could play in the NFL. However, being top end is a different discussion.
@@kerwynwilliams yeah it’s not that weird there’s a lot of discussion happening in the clips and people like to discuss it further in the comments. Like how on twitter sometimes the replies are funnier than the actual tweet
Imagine a Lebron quarterback. now that I’m thinking about it that may be his best position. He’s ALL TIME athletic in terms of speed and size, but his greatest asset is his ability to read the game and always make the smart play. He’s already really a point guard so it makes sense to me
He’s got the IQ to play QB, but does he have the arm to actually get it 30-40 yards through the air? You’re kinda downplaying how strong of an arm and accuracy QBs have
@@Jsalcedo23 there is literally video of Lebron playing qb as an adult in flag football. He can definitely throw the ball. Most generational athletes could of played multiple sports.
Ish Wainwright in Raptors camp right now - played basketball at Baylor then switched to football (TE) spent time on Bills practice squad then switched back to hoops. Played overseas a few years and now looks like he’ll earn a spot at the bottom of the roster. 6’5 F who can guard multiple positions and with a developing corner 3… See a lot of similarities to PJ Tucker… another guy who likely could have played TE.
@@zachnantz5304 Ohio is not a top 3 football state😂 Texas, California and Florida are all above it. Maybe Top5 if you think they better than Arizona, South Carolina and Georgia
"I don't know, he might be a natural"..you mean the kid who was all-Ohio 2 years in a row and was recruited by Ohio State, Bama, and Miami? Yeah, he might be a natural...
@@kevinjames60 if you’re getting recruited to play at OHIO, MIAMI and ALABAMA in the early 2000s i got a pretty good feeling you could make the league.
Only if they grew up playing football. If prime lebron when he was in Miami randomly decided to go play in the NFL, he wouldn’t be good. But if lebron never quit in high school when he was one of the best receivers in the country and completely focused on football then he one hundred percent would’ve made it to the league.
Bron probably would have been a decent football player. His early NBA career was contact with no complaining which is why he put on more weight to compensate and go through the contact he was taking. His mindset changed and he adopted the flopping because the rules allowed for it and he he had to exaggerate the contact because he wasn't getting the calls because he's so strong. The contact expectations in the NFL and NBA are completely different but I think his mindset would be different because you expect to get your head knocked off in the NFL.
@@retrotv1988 go ahead and list the 5 you think are better. After Gronk and Tony G it will be hard to find that many guys who are better, not even considering that Kelce still probably has a few more years as the best tight end in football
Some of the best tight ends have basketball experience. Some of the best QB's have baseball experience. Some positions just have good synergies between sports.
The guy was All State (at WR so we know he can catch) in a fairly large state at football and is bigger and faster than everyone who plays the TE position. Of course he could do it lmao
I mean we can and we can also look at college basketball players that transitioned over and were elite like Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, etc. He's got the size, body, and athletic abilities.isten to Kelce and what he's saying
@@tonyschimmoeller I literally write comments like this before watching because it’s the same recycled dialogue. His size an athleticism & so on an so on. However at the end of the day it’s just a topic where we won’t ever know what could’ve been if he decided to stick with football.
@@marshallwood3482 I mean obviously this is part speculation but it’s not like it’s unprecedented for guys to switch from college basketball to college football then go on to have good NFL careers. In the case of Lebron, a freak athlete in any either sport, you could easily deduct that he could have also made a great career in football. Then consider the fact that Bron actually loves football you could also deduct that he wouldn’t lose love for the game thus, he would stay motivated to keep improving and to keep his body in as great of shape as possible. Similar to how he approaches basketball.
@@DJ-ys9pv aside from all of that. The only guy that I could see currently from the NBA to make a jump to the nfl is Steven Adams. He played rugby professionally in New Zealand.
What they are not mentioning or don't know is that Lebron was a all american wide receiver in high school. Dude was looking like Randy Moss on the field.
It’s difficult for most basketball players to transfer to football because basketball rewards a high center of gravity, and football rewards a low center of gravity. There are few players who can move between those two worlds. Baseball to football is much easier.
Are they talking if he solely focused on football?? If so I think he would be a HOF because of how he takes care of his body, but if there talking about back in 2011 I don't think so gonna need more than Training camp and Pre-season to be dominant
Bron could probably play in nfl just off the look test, it's how he adjust to blocking and physical part that be interesting. You already know guys would be aiming for his knees and ankles on tackles, and when someone puts that first good lick on him how would he respond 🤔 😏
@@psychedelicpsychosis6954 😂 you sound goofy high school sports is not the same the same the hits are hard sure but are bodies aren’t even fully developed
would love to see the soccer (ie. the other football) version of this conversation. I know Giannis and Pascal Siakam both juggle in warm-ups frequently but not sure who else, probably most of the European and African players tbh
Not to take away from (American) football players but the roles are so specialized in football that I think for freak athletes it would be easier making the transition in that direction. Soccer and basketball are both more skill-oriented. Being an absurd athlete isn’t enough.
Yea we would need to see what their first touch is like.....otherwise they wouldn't look right out there....Usain bolt tried for a lower level club and did ok but nothing great
@@wizardishere5633 "I used to play soccer when I was younger. My dad used to be soccer player, I loved soccer. I wanted to play soccer, I didn't want to play basketball growing up." -Giannis, May 25, 2021
Yea sure he could probably do it.. could also run 2 routes and get a leg snapped off that 6 foot 8 frame. Hes had a 20 year NBA HOF career, scoring champ. Lets be happy with that
I always thought that in the celebrity game it was crazy how even though the football players like Micah parsons are world class athletes, they just do not have the bounce NBA guys do. They fall out of the air so fast cause they’re thicker
He knew he wasn't going to be happy in the NBA = take a beating in the NFL for some big pay cheques, for a few years, before it's hard to get out of bed in the morning
Those who don't think Lebron could have made it in the NFL. Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham. Antonio play football and basketball in HS. He wanted to in college when he was suppose to go to MSU but then HC Nick Saban left so he left. He finally ended up at Kent State after a few stops before to only play basketball at Kent State. Jimmy Graham never played football in his life. He played his 4 years of BB at the University of Miami. Thinking his chances at the NBA was slim and none, he decided to walked on to the Miami football team for his last year of eligibility. The rest is history.
If Anthony Edwards retires from the NBA before he turns 30 years old. I think he could make the transition from the NBA to the NFL. Running Back, Wide Receiver or Cornerback.
Can you imagine trying to defend Lebron in the endzone? It would be literally impossible. He doesnt even need to run a route. Just throw the ball like 12' off the ground and he is the only one who can get it.
I have no doubt Matt Barnes and LeBron could have played in the NFl.They were both standouts in football in high school.Matt Barnes said football was his best sport. They both have more than enough athleticism. Why not?
@@thetruthinsports That’s what I’m saying. Folks on here & in the media talking about he don’t like getting contact. The man is literally the greatest pure athlete we’ve seen ever. It’s not like he’s some KD like string bean either. He walks around being 250 easy. He’s not getting pushed around🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️I don’t get this narrative
nah lebron the most athletic dude weve seen in decades, body, speed, vertical, smarts, strength, he has it all wouldve been a top 3 TE or receive all time easily
Well you must’ve been in a coma, cause I see flopping almost every other play for holding/Pass interference calls. NFL ain’t all that “tough” that it used to be.
MJ is the goat. Kobe is my favorite player of all time. Possibly even a favorite athlete of all time. But let’s be real. Lebron once in a human history type of athlete. And that’s before we even start talking about intellectually gifted he is as well. He would’ve been great at whatever sports he decided to play.
