So freaking cool. To the uploader @Seafish, please do not ever stop doing stuff like this. I find all-things-unseen-under-the-ocean so endlessly fascinating, so I hugely appreciate that you converted+put this video online. Amazing in this kind of light. Some of this stuff is so unique that most people have never seen this type of footage. THANK YOU!!!

People don’t really recognize how hard it is to get this type of footage. It’s a fishing vessel in this case but so much can be learned. I can’t think of too many (any) other places where towed equipment is seen when underway. Towed sonar arrays are never seen in a context like this, whether it is behind an anti-submarine vessel, a frigate/destroyer/corvette/carrier or even a variable-depth sonar sled behind a ship. So much can be gleaned from footage like this. Filming towed equipment requires a special towfish camera, spreader equipment in the vessels, as well as other engineering concerns. Very very cool.
