@@RCKnockout I forgot to mention, some can prolly contest. The bulkheads if you screw them down to tight it can make a space 2-6mm’s where the meet in the center on the bottom side . I believe this could cause left to right movement with the diff as you drive maybe aluminum bulkheads would help with not spreading apart like the softer plastic .
Lol on 3s BIG BLOCK... they don't hold so good... tho my rear has been fine so far after replacement and bearings... tho my front is shot now... so getting one of these hr in the back stock in the front is what ima do lol
After a hand full of runs with my lil revo I noticed the front diff slips a bit when turning the wheels by hand, easy runs to nothing crazy, no jumping or crashing
@@RCKnockout Yes. Thats why i am in a dillema. Whether to get the maxx 4s or the e revo 2.0 Both are incredible cars, but i have a little bit of nostalgia with the revo. So there is an emotion. And rationally thinking, the maxx is a better option. Man, i am soo messed up and confused. Feel like getting both of them, but it will be highly out of budget. Anyways , both of them are pretty expensive.
@@gourobkundu2173 its your money just get what you think looks better. E revo 2.0 is actually pretty durable once u fix the rear rod ends or just don't beat the living crap out of it and itll be fine lol
@@Todd_G_FPV Yep. I generally donot try to murder my cars. I am a mild basher. In my opinion the revo looks much much better. And i can perform the zip tie , limiting strap mod. I think it will be fine then. What do u think?
@@gourobkundu2173 worth a shot man! At the end of the day its about what puts a smile on your face. For me its my xmaxx but I do enjoy running my other cars as well
Do you run on 3S? My MERV is like 13 years old or so. Back when I first got it, I did replace the diffs once. After running a few runs on 3s and doing standing backflips and such. Since then I have basically just stuck to 2s. More than enough speed for the vehicle, and haven't had another diff break since.
You took the wrong screws off the shocks initially and took more apart than you needed to. Maybe it’s me coming from WW2 watch restoration but these screws are reasonably sized. If you want to see tiny work on a woman’s watch from the 1940s.
Protip the first thing I do when I work on my rc cars is take off the tires it makes the car easier to move around and is best to just get them out of the way that’s just from my experiences tho so do whatever makes you happy I guess, lovin the content tho keep it up
Excellent video friend, Great energy and honest chatter. I am always seeking good instructional videos for our customers and this one fits the bill. If you have any other HR videos, feel free to send me links. If they are helpful, I will likely send you viewers. Also, how about these parts? It's been some time, are they holding up?
Thank you! They are still holding up well! I do have install videos for the 32p gear conversion on the Slash 2wd as well as the Hot Racing Sway bar Kit on the Slash 2wd
I have the same diffs and I put 20 million in my diffs and a slipper elementer and shims for the diff and all hardened transmission gears. Bullet proof and supper amazing to drive now you can just shim the stock diffs and you will be good for a long time. But I went over kill with my car . But shims are a must it should be the first thing you do out of the box . And servo. Lol the stock is junk 😂🤣
My diffs obliterated themselves during my 1st run with my new motor even though i shimmed them. To be fair its a 2850kv 3670 sized can running 4s lol. Its meant for a car literally twice the length of the revo. So I got the hot racing diffs and hardened gears like 6 months ago, but i have been dreading installing them because i have the t bone racing chassis and its a pain in the butt to line it back up after taking it off lol. There are these little metal pieces that you basically have to ballance upright, all at the same time and then somehow stop them from tipping over while you install the skidplate. Its a nightmare lol. Its just so many extra steps and replacing the diffs is kind of a pain as it is lol. I basically have to disassemble the whole thing to get in there as it is.
I bought this car when they first came out. It was a insane tank on 3 s never broke it. I just bought one, broke a shaft in under 1 minute. I’m selling it. Now the diffs go? There cheeping out on quality big time. Sad.
@@RCKnockout it seemed to be, I remember ripping my first vxl on 3s hard. I never replaced an axle. Maybe it was bad luck? I’m modifying it so it won’t happen again. I had to do mip axles in my stampede 4x4. If you have any tricks, let me know. Thanks!
@@SpeedSyko actually I think I’ve only broken one driveshaft on my 1/16 e revo. It’s just the diffs that’s been the problem for me. I’m not really sure how to make a 1/16 Revo into an ultimate basher? I’m sure it’s possible though
Shimmed my diffs and theyve been great. Only running 2s. Considering replacing my rear with a helical, seems redundant and not cost effective to have one in the fron, hows the handling with the front helical installed? Im curious, but i feel like it would be worse.
People complain about working on arrmas, whole bunch of different screws to access anything. Just to get to the diff on this thing, you HAVE to disassemble the whole front end basically... looks like a nightmare
@@RCKnockout I will definitely have to pick some up I would love to worry less when moderately - light bashing. New to the channel and I can't wait to check out all the 1/10 Summit vids! I bought a second hand 1/10 Summit with a castle 2200kv motor run on 6S. Got huge 4.0 Rox Loxs. Its my first big rc and I love it. Subscribed!
I like your video and I am thinking of upgading because of it but I dont see a follow up unless I missed it I have had to replace so many of those normal gears you said this thing should be indestruckdable did it live up to that???????????????????????? Thanks Mark
Its a great up grade just have to make sure to geta shim kit also or you'll just blow those also I have done it 2 times this will be the 3 hot racing dif I have to putting the front
MERV Owner. Appreciate this video, I was wondering about those myself, for the price and all. Really glad your trying those. Look forward to seeing how they work out. I have not had any diff problems, and run 3S, but starting to jump a bit more, so anticipating the need.
@@Todd_G_FPV . Let me just ask this. I see lots of old posts for old MERVS saying shim the diffs. I have disassembled the disc several times, adding different fluids for different results. I'm just not having any diff problems. I don't see the need to shim the diffs. Everything in there fits well. I even bought the shims, but don't really want to put in them in there since everything seems to be working fine. Why do I need to shim the diffs in 2021? What symptoms need fixed that the shims will fix currently on newer models with newer bell housing? Just asking because you mentioned it. Thanks.
@@Widflyinghigh they will wear out faster without the shim but if its working fine don't mess with it lol I got my merv last year and it stripped running two nimh in series after a few runs. Got a new diff, shimmed it and now I run 3s on every run
When you fill the diffs your supposed to get rid of as much air as possible, I usually directly inject into slots etc. Or take a gear out to get underneath then put it back, I also find spinning the gears helps to move fluid underneath ALOT Also it is going to be hard to turn for the first bit but it's also a small shaft with little to hold too
@@RCKnockout unfortunately they never sent them so I couldn't. i messaged them in hopes of a refund or replacement and I ordered shims from another website. hopefully I get new ones like you said they weren't cheap
