Affilliate link: Maxx Slash: alnk.to/dWbxPqf Traxxas has released the all new Maxx Slash, a 1/8 1/7 scale short course truck based on the Maxx platform. We take it out to the basher track to see how it runs! #Traxxas #TraxxasMaxxSlash
Personally, SCT's are not my thing. When I first saw all the hype surrounding this rig, I thought it may be cool, though. After seeing people run it, it just seems very unremarkable. It seemed like you had hopes for it but were possibly disappointed? Thanks for putting in the excellent work as always.
Always really appreciate your driving videos and reviews razor. Just about every single vehicle and every tip you give I follow Appreciate what you're doing a regular review from other reviewers in a boxings are great but understand the mechanics of each vehicle is really nice
Honestly I think traxxas skimps on quality because people don’t know better and the fanboys love it no matter what! Since they’re the biggest and most expensive brand you kind of assume you’re buying the best. I made that mistake once..
Gonna have to watch more on this truck. Still not sold on it... At this stage, if these were being released tomorrow here in Australia, I'd pass. Hopefully you can redeem it this thing, because as of right now, I'd be picking a Mojave all day.
When Arrma, TC, etc, wet the bed, we waste no time letting them have it! Traxxas has been wetting the bed for about a year or so, and I have been extremely vocal about the sheets being wet and smelling like urine!😊😊
Really glad to see you review this. So far most videos felt like commercials. Certainly has that Traxxas suspension. Sticktion dampening and runs like a baby deer.
Every video I've seen of this makes me wonder who actually sees something good. It handles terrible, the power delivery is terrible, it sounds awful. I keep reading traxxas fans be delusional about this and don't know why. The only positive i saw was that nasty lawn dart it took and didn't break. Again an admirable quality if the maxx didn't exist already. It's a worse handling more expensive maxx. Short courses are supposed to be nimble, this is anything but. I appreciate honest videos like yours showing its capabilities.
lol really curious how this is received. Limited battery options out of the box is going to really hurt it I think. The sound is crazy annoying I couldn’t hang with that
@@LieutenantMagoo i’m not new to RC 😆 I know what batteries exist. In the video he expressly states he didn’t have a 6s battery that fits. It’s the crappy battery tray. Nothing new.
Sad it has such short suspension travel, thought they would have learned from the raptor r. Wish they went for more realistic feel in Traxxas style, slash style, 4s, more realistic tires, longer suspension travel
Nice! It drives like an SCT after all.. LOL. It did well aside from the gear mesh or whatever that god awful noise is. I suspect alot of these will end up with MT tires and extended arms.. pretty cool tho. Nice drive Razor!
I saw somebodys RU-vid post yesterday and he couldn't fine lipo's to fit. I'd what to run 2x3 lipos hopefully 5000mah or a bit bigger. The more i see of this truck makes me think Mojave 6s might be the better truck.
I can see the advantage to this Traxxas having the battery tray design. Quick amd secure loading of a new battery. But when you get it home and realize it means you have to buy a new set of batteries, it is a real turn off.
2 3's lipos fit just fine . that guy must be a moron you watched. i can send you a pic of mine inside it if you need proof.. it can fit a lot if different styles of batteries actually
After flogging my mates mojave 4s around a track this sct doesnt seem to come close. Plastic geared servo, weird size battery tray, 1/10 size plastic hexs with lock nuts, for 1300 aud it seems your paying for the name
Premium price lazy made. Couldnt put longer shocks in the front or the rear. They put a spacer in the rear to artificially make the rear shocks longer. I find that extrmly lazy and cost saving measure. Just make bigger shocks like everyone else does for SCT
Interesting to compare this drive session for Traxxas Slash, with a much earlier one you did from 4 or 5 years ago. Interesting that there seems to be a "signature" Traxxas Slash handling "format". All those years ago, you spent considerable time and effort trying to get better droop and better pack from the original Traxxas Slash. Looks like very little, if any, improvement has been made since then. Still needs more droop/ longer shock travel, or, maybe longer swing arms. Have Traxxas really learned nothing in the intervening period? I own an earlier Traxxas Slash and in spite all the mods and updates I could ever find, nothing changed, it just wants to land with body slams, bounces and nose dives?
You didn't seem all that enthusiastic about it, lol. Aside from that, I think Traxxas made a mistake on this. They should've picked up from what ARRMA left behind....a 1/10th 6s SCT with 1/8th drivetrain based off the Sledge. Would have taught ARRMA a lesson for dropping the Senton 6s.
All we want as consumers are HONEST REVIEWS. If it sucks tell us ! Don’t sell out like Hollywood just to line your own pockets, because it’s our pockets that are dependent on your reviews ! Thank you to all the honest channels
SCTs are usually poor at jumping anyway. Can’t correct mid-air very well, plus the things parachute like crazy. This thing might do well at a track, perhaps? Personally I’m not a SCT guy anyway but they are cool on a race track. For bashing though..
Nice run. Looks pretty good to me. I'm not sure it's worth the price though 🤔 Seems like a more expensive Mojave. But of course it can be worth the extra money because of the build quality and electronics. Would you say the price is reasonable?
Throttle control bro, between that and the annoying sound of it is unwatchable with the volume up, and my cats were going nuts l0l. I like the idea of a bigger stronger slash but Traxxas aluminum parts are kinda pricey 50$ a set, steering and caster blocks, 35$ for toe links. 500$ i would buy it for sure but for that overall price it's UDR for me. I dont bash hard anyway.
From what I've seen, this thing seems to handle significantly worse than either Arrma Mojave, but is just as tough, a little faster, not quite as easy to work on, but does have Traxxas support and clipless body. Doesn't really seem worth it to the competition, but definitely a cool truck to have. I want one
Each new Traxxas release gets hyped to the maximum but fails to deliver. The handling looks terrible, it doesn't jump very well and sounds like the drive train is binding. Why does everyone seem to accept this RC sounds normal? If it was an Arrma the knives would be out. But Traxxas can release a $700 US new model RC car with a bound up drive train, flies crooked, rolls over easily and doesn't fit a 6s battery.
Not worth $700 more like a $550-$600 truck. You can buy a wide maxx for $570 and have a better truck. If you’re going to spend $700 save another $300 and buy an Xmaxx.
An ARRMA GORGON handles better than this. And I’m serious. Another model that Traxxas completely rushed and failed. The RaptorR, the Ultimate Xmaxx and XRT with their aluminum rods who break like crystal………….for a crazy price….. I mean, I don’t understand WTF they’re doing. ARRMA in comparison delivers way better results for cheaper price, the new Mojave4S is an absolute banger compared to this…! I love you Traxxas, come on kick your ass instead of being under ARRMA pressure and farting fails !!!!!!!! Especially at these prices ! No excuse.
😂 50mph on grass !!! Where does it say 50mph on grass ?? Just sayin 🤷 asking alot for 50mph off road terrain, but 57 im really leaning towards getting one, always been more of kraton/monster truck type but this truck seems to hold its own.
It drives horrible!! The Mojave 4s is waaay better! Traxxas looks stiff and the body is just catching all the air making it parachute down. Looks very unnatural making it look like a cheap RC from Walmart… maybe a little too harsh but yea doesn’t look good at all!
I need help from you. As mostly a racer I do not get to the track as much as I’d like. Now that I’m trying to take the racing part more serious I no longer way to “play” with my racers. I’m looking for a basher toy. Arrma 4s, MT10 price range. If there was an updated Granite I’d add it to my list. I could get a 6s truck or a wide Maxx but I’d have to wait a bit to get their batteries. Any opinions?
Why do people always expect every single RC to handle/jump/etc like every other single RC car? I think too many people try to get an RC car and then force it to their driving style rather than actually just getting an RC that fits their driving style in the first place. It's a SCT, it's got small wheels. It's not made for massive air, back flips, or speed runs etc. I wouldn't buy an X-MAXX and expect to drive it inside my house. Or buy a buggy and expect it to run over rocky terrain. Or an on road car and expect it to work off-road. I dunno people have weird expectations with this hobby.
I think Xmaxx 's durability is higher compare to the other 8s. Traxxas always makes pricing with a big margin on each rc ( i couldnt find any discount on store or website). For sure if arrma realizes an orther 8s like the xmaxx i'm going straigth to pay for this...
I can't speak for others, but I don't have any particular expectations. However, I will try everything just to see, and sometimes I'm shocked. Like the Mojave 4S does things no other SCT does, and if I didn't try them I wouldn't know. So you gotta try it because sometimes the unexpected happens.
@@RazorRC I agree sometime a car will definitely shock you with what it can do. What it can handle. And the value it provides. One thing I have noticed however that seems to be universal are people’s expectations of just how tough and resilient these things should be. They will send them 50ft through the air or smash into tree roots or huge rocks and expect these things to be invincible. As if the laws of physics don’t apply to them when they are playing or expect them to be made of adamantium, lol.
I don't understand the choice to go with belted SCT tires. Lowers top speed, weighs more and makes bad air control worse. And there aren't really options at this scale. Its not even an advantage as SCT tires are narrow and don't blow off the rim like MT tires do. If traxxas doesn't offer non-belted tires (that dont suck) I think its a pass from me. And I'm a big Maxx stan, at least that truck is an MT. Bought the Mojave at launch and haven't looked at most other SCTs the same.
Does this have a center diff? Holy shit the noise.... it basically sounds like a helicopter😂 Edit: this seems to be the worst sounding rc car I have ever heard
If you need to land on your feet, save $200 and get a 4s Mojave. I've had my M/S since ;last week. The best thing to do is throw your Maxx V2 tires on it and ANY servo other than that obomination Traxxas gives.
This is the 2nd time I am hearing that noise. Whats up with that? Lets hope this was not rushed through developmemt and ends up coming out with problems. That noise does not sound right at all.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this appears to handle worse, jump and land worse and not be a fast as a Mojave 6s and it cost more. I admit to being biased because i have both Mojave's but i also have a Xmaxx and TRX6 so not a hater. This truck just doesn't seem that good. It reminds me more of my SBR 2.0 jumping but the SBR looks to handle better or at least looks better handling. This just looks clunky and bouncy.
"that don't sound good". lol no it does not. I know they have steel spur/pinion gears, and might take some time to break in. but yours sounds extra....whiny...lol
