How is the power hobby battery ?.... I was thinking of buying me a couple for my big Traxxas e Revo 1.0 buddy. I also just had someone order me a 40-80C hard pack 3S 4000-4200 mah lipo. Vants an awesome company. I look forward to more Rc videos from you dude. I always re watch your older and newer stuff.
Right on bud I appreciate the support, I definitely have alot more videos coming your way. The power hobbies battery packs are awesome man iv been running them for quite awhile now with no issues, there my second favorite packs
FullThrottle Obsessions I had the Lectron Pro 5200 mah 50C soft pack 3S each lipo batteries at one point and I ran them in my big Traxxas e Revo 1.0 with the blue body like the one you own currently. They are perfect in the e Revo 1.0 or 2.0 versions man !!!!!. The Lectron pros were even run independently on 3S in my slash’s, stampede and rustler/bandit 2wd’s at one point and they are PERFECT. I would say the Power Hobbies lipos are probably just as good as the lectrons or maybe better. The lectron Pros were AWESOME.
Thank you for this video! I was big into nitro and I am now switching over to electric and just got one of these trucks and being new to the lipo batteries had no idea what to get; great comparison, ended up going with a the traxxas 3s 5000.
VenomGT87 right on bud, you're going to really like the electric stuff especially with these new lipos the technology has came a long way and the best part about it all is that there's no tuning involved or oily nitro lol
So far I am impressed, this thing is FAST, the one thing I am realizing is that this one so light the wind picks it up at speed, broke all the hubs yesterday because of that, just ordered aluminum ones...and new tires lol
How long can I expect from a battery? The sales person at Willis Hobbies on long island told me a buddy that up to an hour runtime can be expected. One thing I liked about Nitro is all you need to do is put more fuel in. How many batteries will I need if I want to be out for a day.
FSX239 Maybe I can help. 15-20 min per pack, takes about an hour at 6amps to charge one. I'd say three batteries and a 12vdc charger that uses 12v automotive. That works for me, because I don't swap packs immediately, and speed runs aren't much fun imho.
I'll throw you a like and sub; I have a monster slash(ebay buy) coming in the post, and nearly the same idea; big tires, raised body, fully extended shocks..
People think c rating will get you more speed. This simply isnt true. C rating is nothing but the safe discharge rate of the battery. You putting a 25c and a 75c, or even a 100c wouldnt actually get you a better top speed. The speed control and motor are still drawing the same amount of amps on both batteries.
i tried convert my slash to a monster trunk. it aint worth it. once I started pushing big tires , problems started to occure. esc heats up, driveshaft starting to bend and all sort of things. I ended up paying more than buying a true 1/10 scale truck. so don't do it people. or you will get very frustrated
If you were using the stock motor and esc, then yea it’s gonna get hot but you need to have a brushless motor and don’t use a 3s lipo unless you have aluminum drive shafts. And when putting bigger tires on it you have to Change the gearing. I’ve had my slash monster truck and it’s lasted for 3 years. Everything stock except the motor and esc. It is worth the upgrade Don’t just take someone’s word for it, take the time to research
Im running the Velineon brushless setup on my Slash 2wd and its great! I've run 2s and 3s (I prefer 3s). It hooks up great on pavement, off road is definitely squirrely and it's hard to get the power down for sure lol
From the start of the video I could hear your slipper clutch slipping badly. You should've tightened it up before hand, with it slipping like that your top speed was being affected.
It was really loose in this video unfortunately when I was on location I didn't have my tools so I couldn't tighten it up, on the positive side it kept the truck from spinning uncontrollably on the loose surface and really didn't affect the top speed as much as the tires did that day
Zeno'sama that's not completely accurate bud, the first rating (burst) is about how fast it takes off, as you can see these have a 150c burst and a 75c continuous rating which is why the top speed is greater than the lower C rating packs
Always check your ride before crusin.... the talons all rip with 3s, you have to be sure to reinforce or get some bead lock rims. Should’ve ran while holding in the air to see the tires most likely shaking from the drive lines or whatever is throwing those tires off balance .... cool video though
you would think one person telling you your slipper clutch was loose would be enough probably most of them that's telling you that don't even have an RC
Right lol it's all good though brother I get a kick out of it, running the slipper a little loose actually help me control the truck a little better on the loose terrain I was running on though I didn't mean to have it that loose but unfortunately once I was in the location were i was filming I some how forgot my tools so I couldn't make any adjustments to the slipper
this was a battery comparison to show the difference on the battery ratings there selves not an actual test of the trucks top speed, the slipper was toast in this video bud
The trimming had alot to do with it along with the bigger 2.8 tires and wheels heres a video of what i did to it in the conversion if youd like to check it out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-03eEc3DWuBo.html
I agree bud but that first road was just to narrow for how fast the truck was going so unfortunately we had to change roads I had to compromise the smoothness for a wider Road
It definitely takes some trial and error originally the clutch was perfect but needed to be tightened once I put these bigger 2.8 tires and wheels on but i have since upgraded to a heaver clutch set up
@@fullthrottleobsessions oh yea def trial an error like last night trying to make my bandit long travel all the way around am I finally got it lol an I didn't spend a dime lol all parts I had but I love my powder hobby bat I got the 3s 5200 50c with 100 burst I bought one thinking it wouldn't power hobby. It front it's arrow hobby lol but a great bat an what pinion you ru being stock with high speed or 54 15t pinion.
@@rsracing-mb1tr right on bud thats awsome, the bandit was my first hobbie style rc i still have it but one of these days i have to give it some serious TLC lol, i believe i kept the stock gearing i know i wanted to gear it lower do to the bigger tires but i dont think i did
@@fullthrottleobsessions nice the bandit I just recently got it's an older one it had the servo yo switch forward an reverse lol an man I did some suspension test last night was cool seeing it go over shit an not tip over lol go check it out if ya want to would love some input from ppl.
@@rsracing-mb1tr right on bud ill definitely check it out, thats crazy when i purchased my Traxxas Bandit back in the day they came standard with mechanical speed controls i used to have to take it apart and clean the contacts quite often. Did yours still have the old 20-turn Stinger motor?
Why not just buy a stampede instead. Not being sarcastic. I was just curious why this is such a popular mod. I like what everyone does with these but this seems ..
The stampede in my opinion is just too top heavy even though this truck has stampede tires and wheels it still has a low center of gravity which makes it perfect for just about any type of track or terrain you want to run on
FullThrottle Obsessions I actually do both! I have to let it cool down but I have a cold air blower that I use and I let it sit for 10 mins and run for 15. It does 45 mph on pavement around 41 mph with big tires in the grass. I had to get something fast for my dog to chase in the yard so I had to upgrade tires and gearing to make the car fast enough lol😂 Also... when you tighten the slipper clutch all the way down go 1/4 turn backwards if you don’t you could over heat your motor👍🏻
Peppe Peppe 47mph is what i ended up with but it still has more i started having problems with the slipper clutch and also the tires started coming un glued
I can't keep mine from catching air.. it backflips on me during speed runs around 50, I never was able to Max it out yet.. need new body, I'm not trying to be that guy running tough with no body for fear something happens.. my hats off to you brave sir! .. tightened clutch damn near all the way down, 3s lectron 5200 mAh 50c.. gearing :84s and 28p 3500 kv reaktor with stock veta karoo tires.. (super grippy, it's the 2wd slash)
James Curt I know what you mean Bud that body is so big makes this RC feel like a kite at higher speeds, i picked up a heavier clutch setup for this truck because the factory one almost always ends up slipping on me
Ryan Myers on average for a 4x4 17-20 minutes of hardcore pedal to the medal driving. You can make it last for 30 mins if you baby it. In the cold about 12 mins.
awsome RC 2cell 3 cell 4 cell 6 cell doesn't have anything to do with speed that's just storage... 20c 30c 45c... Thwts the speed.. The higher the discharge rate makes it faster
Er no! The motors KV is rpm per volt. More cells in series = more voltage = more rpm = more speed...... There is an increase in amp delivery with higher C rating which gives some increase in speed but really your batteries should have a higher C rating than the motor can draw to prevent them failing.
It definitely was loose unfortunately that day I didn't have my tools with me so I decided to film anyway, this beast has an upgraded heavy duty slipper in it now the pads in the old slipper were tossed after this video
You cat run 2 s on stock pinion it's set up for 3 s . Put the 19 on it and it will go 40 plus with the bluetooth add on you can push power to 120 percent . It's the only gear for 2 s per traxxas . Runs fast less breaking of truck better turns. Have fun .
That's a good guess bud I'm about an hour or so away in the victor valley, trust me my phone wasnt that old at the time I was sweating it the whole time I was running it without the body lol but some of the best memories come from not so good decisions lol
I'm running these Hardened Steel Driveshafts there a little pricey but there some of the strongest shafts i found i even put a set on my brushless rustler www.ebay.com/itm/Hardened-Steel-Driveshafts-CVD-Kit-For-Traxxas-Slash-VXL-4x4/282631142030?epid=934813310&hash=item41ce20fa8e:g:SPcAAOSwo4pYLn8S:rk:13:pf:0
The spur fear is probably not even a thing anymore. Alls I heard was the spur gear and the pinion gear fighting each other. Or the sipper clutch was just burning.
The slipper clutch was slipping the whole video, it just was a little more noticeable with the stronger packs. no worries though it has a bigger slipper clutch assembly now so there no more slipping
i order it from amazon heres a link if you'd like to check them out www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WOZCV2Y/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=prepperzsourc-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00WOZCV2Y&linkId=a741030fa620e45a8f2ec1b26302d9a1
The top speed will be slower with the stock sized tires... unless his slipper was slipping the entire time from the MT tires. Larger tires have the effect of a larger pinon, or smaller spur, but the bigger tires put more stress on the clutch because of inertia
Somethings not right here... 2s and 3s its not going to do anything for speed that's storage capacity... The higher up in discharge the faster its going to go... How did your 25c beat a 50c battery... That's it is going to be nutts fast...
chrsmcwtrs 2s is 7.4 volt always, 3s is 11.1 volt always. 2s equals 2 3.7 volt cells. 3s equals 3 3.7 volt cells. There is a huge difference between the cell count in speed
