The Traxxas REVO 2.5 came out in 2004 and has since been wining the readers top pick award in the RC Car Action Magazine for the best nitro truck, I cannot disagree. This model is the 3.3 and is longer and has some substantial upgrades compared to the original 2.5 model. It's still got the same overall guts as the original, along with the revolutionary "moncocque" style chassis, inboard shocks, dual steering servos, the complicated "optidrive, Reverse, and a 2 speed. Lets check this 1/10 scale beast out in the part 1 video with special guest host the Erratic T-maxx Tony.

Great work my friend! Regardless of the Traxxas hate out there, the Revo was and still is a revolutionary platform in many ways.. especially with the beautifully plush inboard suspension. After your first Revo 3.3 video I nearly bought one and re-entered the nitro world. I reeled myself in though as I already have three Revos! Keep up the great work brother, as always very informative and entertaining. Big like from Ohio 😉

whats up man! The entire Revo platform is just so damn cool and truly revolutionary, I'm glad you agree. Hard to believe it's from 2004 and is still basically the same. It's still the only nitro with alot of cool tech features which actually work well. Titanium Nitride shock shafts bro!!! I love that.

@@hybrid32494 Yes for sure it does. The inboard cantilever style suspension is definitely one of my favorite parts. The truck handles rough terrain great I think. Also I like the "Opti-Drive". Out of the 3 Revos I've had only one gave me trouble. Wasn't reading the sensor in the transmission so had to replace the module itself. No biggie. Found it cheap on eBay. After that never an issue. I enjoy your content. Looking forward to seeing the follow up video of the Revo. Take care man! Later...

dude, let me ask you a question. I've got another Revo (same as this one, but with the newer TQi radio). The issue in this other one is the trans does not shift to second gear, and yes I've adjusted the shifting points multiple times. The TQi remote's green LED blinks, but seems to run fine. Do you think it's possible this is preventing the optidrive from engaging second gear somehow? I'm not sure if the option-drive also controls the 2-speed shifting.

whats up man!! You're 100% right, the nitro guys surely do alot of hating on rcs for minimal reasons. I really think it comes down to the fact that there is just so much competition in the RTR truck segment that we all have our favorites. Plus Most traxxas models never were allowed in ROAR racing, so they became easy to hate on.

Based on my Shit body weight of only 170, I'd say I'm adequate. I used to rep 275 like I do now about a year ago. I guess al the RC videos have taken a hit on my gym life.

@@hybrid32494 I was 195 pounds back then a few years ago but I'm 205 now and was up at 215 drinking a lot of beer(sober 2 years) but after 3 shoulder surgeries I can't lift anything anymore lol..I play around with light weight once in awhile though

@@hybrid32494 Correct. It's Jag XF,s. Bought second hand, had a few years 'only replaced battery' in that time! I had a Jag XJ prior for 7years again no issue with that either! As far as I'm aware Jag XF gearbox /Transmission & Engine are pretty bulletproof.

hybrid32494 question for ya. How does the earthquake 3.5 stack up to the tmaxx as far as size. Power. And speed. I personally prefer redcat over traxxas. I think the extra 200 bucks for a tmaxx isn’t worth it. Traxxas makes good trucks. But you can get a lot better for the price.

Traxxas does pay attention to the little things and details but still not sure it is worth the premium price. As for the a public park, you pay taxes, as long as you are not hurting the park it should be for ALL to use !!!!

you're 100% right my dude. This engine does just fine, but it not overpowered by any means, it's got just enough power to pull some wheelies, even on only 20% nitro and a rich tune. The big block conversions require some extra mods, I'll look into it bro, thanks for watching.

A Revo was my reintroduction into The R/C world. I absolutely got lucky and a couple guys sold me a T-MAXX first edition 2.5, a Revo 2nd edition (I think, has the optidrive) and an absolute shitload of extra parts all for $300. I quickly got the Revo up to a 3.3 and made sure all was well and tight, and man, it did not disappoint! I too Live in NYC and haven’t attempted to drive at any parks, so I’m not yet engaged with any parks and recreation workers. Isn’t running an R/C a recreation? Anyway, my point is I love this truck, I’ve yet to even upgrade anything that would assist performance. But soon enough that’ll happen. Great vid!

hey bro! whats going on my fellow NYC Nitro Brother! Yep man these traxxas 3.3 nitros are quite awesome, even in fully stock mode. You could make a couple very cheap and effective mods, I will tell you what my plan is. First thing you can do the single steering servo mod, you really don't need twin servos (it's extra weight and more drain on the RC battery). 2) Convert to a 20 dollar traxxas pull start instead of the bulky EZ-START system. Last thing is to install a slightly smaller spur gear for a little more top speed (3-4 MPH). This is what you would call a "SPORT REVO" lol. This is my plan too btw.

@@hybrid32494 Thanks! I have a spare pull start and like three electric starts, with about 4 starter wands. Like I said, there was ALOT! And I’ve never heard of the single servo steering system, but I’ll look into it. And I’ve been giving my gearing some thought lately so I may just do that too. Appreciate the advice!

@@hybrid32494 let me also ask you, my engine was brand new when it went into hypersleep for 5 years, is only just broken it in. I was able to get it smoothly spinning again at the flywheel, and even took it off the truck, put the EZ start on it, and it spun fine. It won’t do it while ON the truck. The one change I made was to ever so slightly unscrew the glow plug and I heard a “hisss” like air coming out. Is that normal? Did I have it a bit too tight? It’ll work soon. I am waiting on a new fuel tank as my old one had about a quarters worth of funk in the bottom. I swear I did a pre sit oiling and drain fuel but I must’ve run it again as it’s been so long I can’t recall. Any help?!

A great video mate well my Traxxas rustler vxl has arrived and wow running a 8 .4 5000 mAh battery and it's a monster gps says 46mph 3s insane oh just to inform you that if you want a fast brushed motor try to get a heilon criterion buggy they had a 12t 540 motor I had one best £120 I ever spent 35mph out of the box

good question, I'll be showing this revo against my 3.3 T-maxx in the part 2 video. Honestly they both feel exactly the same. The newer 3.3 T-maxx is much better than the originals because it's got an extended chassis and the same wheels as this does. The originals would have been far worse.

hey buddy! If you could give me a more detailed choice between which engine you're talking about I would give you a great answer. Based on this comment I would suppose you're talking about the Traxxas 3.3 vs the highly common Savage 4.6 or the G3.0. Personally I think the traxxas 3.3 is very good, never bothers me before, the one you saw in this video .

I never use a spotter, ever, I can pretty much tell how much I can lift, worst case scenario I will just diagonally lift the bar and crawl out, (I've have to do this before). I have a feeling one will eventually find it's way into your hands. Luckily there are so many of these on the used market that the prices on the used ones are not crazy. You can usually get a nice one for half the original MSRP at this point. And so many people hate on the TRX 3.3 engine, but it's fine. They must have just been running it very lean and killed it.

hey bro! Good luck man! You're gonna love the REVO, that thing is super intricate. Only typical issue some tend to have is they need a forward only conversion kit, if your reverse is messed up for whatever reason. Otherwise it's solid. Let me know.

ahahah, hey bro!! that was funny! I love the PRIUS!, best car in the world, for my purposes. I only care about economy, reliability and Fitting the huge 1/5 Primal Mt in the back (yes, it fits). haha. This car has 160K, and is still on it's original set of brakes all around. Regenerative Braking is the SHYT!!! Plus I get like 50-60 MPG in warm weather even with the AC on. Car can also run the AC with the gas engine off. Incredible.

hey man, I've seen a Slayer drive in real live and to me it seemed slower. I just checked the traxxas website and it says it can hit 50 MPH with an optional pinion, and only 45 MPH stock. It seems they are rated to be about the same speed.

hey man, there's many videos on here on how to tune a 1/5 gas RC, and honestly it's much easier than a nitro. You alway start with the factory needle setting as recommended. Then you work on the Low speed needle until your Engine RPM is normal and the car isn't moving on it's own. The gas Rc's are not as temperamental as the nitros, once you got the tune, it'll last a while.

hey man!! I have no doubt this can hit 45, I agree. I just run only 20% nitro and still pretty rich just to be safe. Otherwise with 30% and a slightly better tune it can definetly hit 45 mph. THanks for watching my dude.

The thing is decent for normal driving but as soon as you do a big block conversion or jump it decently high it will give up.Its just not built for stuff like this.I had one myself and experienced this exact problem.

LOL< hey dude!! I would say that's a nearly accurate statement, lol. Considering my prius gets 50+ MPG in warm weather at all times. It would be interesting to do a real MPH test on a nitro, I could figure it out using GPS data, no big deal. Just got to make sure not not idle alot and drive constantly.

LOL, yes def not cause of the reverse, because the t-maxx had reverse too at this time period. I'd say it's short for Revolutionary! And it seems to be true, there was nothing like this truck on the market at that time. It was the first to use the OPTI-DRIVE system too.
