Do you get the same articulation with them? Also are you finding that the front don’t drop as far as rear dose do to the front drive shaft? And one last question, will you be doing the chassis conversion suppose to help with servo limiting droop and or binding on sides. Love the videos. I’m new to crawling and they are very informative.
Wondering if you have any tips on a issue I'm having. I have a defender body, Injora extended axles, Injora 10mm hex extensions, and the same tires as you have in this video which I believe are 2.52mm. I took off wheel fenders and hacked pretty much the fender off but it still rubs and catches inside of headlight bucket under flex if the hexs were a +8 they would prob clear but they don't make so many tips before I chop up the headlight
Yeah we’ll see you in the next video 👍👍😎 two thumbs up, at Broncos looking sweet but yeah I’ll Have to have my lights for sure appreciate you sharing catch you on the next one
you don't need grease on composite gears its not metal to metal contact? I see people keep making this mistake for some reason... It also seems to twitchy.. the slow crawl is nice but then its just full on power very quickly you can see that in your video of it.. just seems like to much and not much control past the super slow crawl
I didn’t know not greasing them was the norm. But it makes sense I guess. Maybe it was my one handed driving but I felt like it was pretty smooth. I had the micro komodo in my gladiator and this setup is much smoother without the twitch when it leaves FOC. It’s certainly not as smooth as the new mini komodo though
Love seeing the TRX-4M go brushless. With the crawl gears it really steps it up. And with that micro komodo I feel like you don't really sacrifice much of the explosiveness. I really hope we can find a solution to use the proscale light kit, I figure it's possible to get an external control to do all the light switching/programming?
I have a nearly identical build and I have the worst time with torque twist. Climb up any slope and the body just torques over emediately. Doesn’t matter how slow. Wondering if any one has any advice. Thanks. Edit: Just found your video on torque twist. It made a huge difference, thank you.
Just a guess as I am also new but i think they mean that where the servo could be using energy (torque in this case) to turn the wheel, it is instead using some of it to move the actual servo.
solid performance yet again! quick quesiton; I've been considering building an indoor track but I don't even know where to start, what did you use for inspiration? I really like your setup but I want some bridges and winch hills too
Thanks! Check out the video I did on my courses. It has my inspiration ideas and the methods of building them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I8uidVXdLkg.html
Great point about the metal trans gears. This is my last point of failure on my defender as well. Curious if you noticed any cogginess transitioning from low speed to higher speed running. On mine its at about 60% throttle. I feel like this motor is just slightly underpowered- curious about the mini Komodo. Also I emailed them about hopefully developing a firmware update for adding the pro scale light kit
I havent noticed the cogging personally. To me it felt really smooth. Smoother than my other micro komodo actually. I would love to get the lighting kit back in order!
Hi Adam , I think your channel and videos are amazing and I thank you for taking the time and trouble to help people like me (rookies) in the RC world. I have a question, I am going to purchase the TRX4M defender as I love the look and detail but would you be kind enough to perhaps make or suggest one of your videos that would help me with a very basic (uncomplicated) upgrades to add to the defender to make it more capable on a budget ? Thank you so much and love and friendship from here in the UK bro 🙏🏼
This setup has so much power, snapped my driveshaft clean in two. Metal ones going in as I watch this. I have the crawler gears but may go back to stock when I get my spare trans back from a friend
I ruined the plastic crawler trans gears and got metals ones from ebay in the stock ratio and it's a little too quick now. Metal gears are a must and with this combo, I would go with 12 to 40 percent reduction for my next steel set.
New to RC and definitely interested in going brushless on my trx4m. Question though... I have the stock transmitter and receiver (first rc so I dont have a tqi laying around), what would be the cheapest way to get that brushless setup to work? Will any 2 channel transmitter and receiver work?
I don't think any 2 channel tx/rx combo will work. I would vote for the Flysky GT5 transmitter/rx combo. It's around $79 and works great. amzn.to/3Whrfrx
I did the micro as well, love your channel. I have low speed cog tho. Any thoughts I still have normal gears. Had injura driveshafts, but went back to stock to see. But to no avail
I feel like the stinger struggles a bit with stock gears. They feel way too tall. Have you always had the cogging issue? Just wondering if a reset of the app or firmware update would solve it.
I have really being enjoying the TRX build series. I noticed that my transmission was dry as well. What lubricant did you use? Also, Meus is now offering a metal crawler gear set.
I always take temperatures of my motors after a nice crawl like that, just for I know where the temperature is on the motor and ESC I just have a little temperature gauge on a keychain it reads temperature pretty good
You're pretty limited in shock options for these at the moment. I think only Injora has released aftermarket shocks specifically for this vehicle. If you're just looking for more articulation, flex extensions are a great option. Check out Adaptiv3 Designs on Etsy. Another option is Losi Mini B rear shocks. They fit with some modification and are ~10mm longer than stock shocks.
Hi, I just installed mine and it seems like it is binging up/not spinning freely in the transmission. Not sure if that is normal or if I did something wrong 🤷♂️
It should be nice and smooth. Could be a gear messing issue by the sounds of it. I would suggest breaking down the transmission and seeing if you can realign it and smooth it out. I had a little bit of trouble with the gears when I swapped them out, but it's nice and smooth now.
Mainly size. The micro is super small and has a much higher KV, so it's a higher revving motor. The Komodo feels smoother and a bit torquier in my opionon.
Furitek makes the lizard ultimate which is fully waterproof. You could use that instead of the lizard pro. But you’ll need a waterproof rx to mate it with. I’m not sure about the motor honestly
Awesome video Adam 👍 , I'm glad you like it. My combo is coming on Monday, hope it runs as good with stock trans gears. I also have on order are the metal diff gears, bearing set and metal suspension links, hope it climbs as good as yours.
The control is insane. But I can not help but wonder - is the Avatar radio plus receiver the best way to go, or would a different combination offer more flexibility (e.g. wider range of compatibility with different ESCs). I am asking as I am yet to get a proper crawler - we only have the Glacier where I would like to update the ESC (probably to the 1080)
I’m going to start experimenting with other transmitters and rx combos. So far the furitek is the only one I’ve tried. So we’ll see! I hear great things about the flysky gt5
A detailed installation video of the motor, is that what you mean? If so, I do not, at least not yet. I am going to be doing some instructional videos on the TRX4M soon and a motor swap will be one of them.
It's really just troubleshooting with the app. You can try adjusting the slow speed in the throttle settings, as well as the punch. On the throttle curve itself you can adjust those dots up and down to get the desired smoothness.
Any idea if there’s a possibility that the light kit from Injora would work with this set up, in place of the pro light kit? Just ordered nearly all your recommendations but bummed a bit about the awesome Traxxas lights 😢😂…trying to find alternative options! Thanks for all your content, you have really been the biggest influence to get me into mini crawler scene and it has been surprisingly the most fun of all RC stuff I’ve done!
Great video! I can't wait until my micro komodo comes in on Monday. I also bought a MOFO RC BAM micro brushless motor. Will be neat to see how it compares! I'm curious about how the standard gears work with the komodo given its low-end power. I imagine the crawler gears are nice to have, but are they even necessary at that point?
Thanks! I honestly feel like the crawler gears work really well with the komodo. It gives you that ultra low speed control and very smooth power delivery. I may try it in the stock transmission just for the fun of it though
@@CapeCrawlers Coming back to this, I had a chance to try the komodo with both gear sets today. With the stock transmission gears, while the komodo still had better low-end torque than the stock 180 motor, the komodo was still a bit jumpy compared to crawling with the crawler gears. I feel like this was to be expected, but I wasn't expecting how drastic the difference was. Crawler gears are a must in my opinion with the komodo, but if I didn't know any better, the komodo would still be seen as an incredible upgrade.
Have ordered the same wheels, tires, axles, gearing, suspension links and diff covers for my Trx4m Trying to keep up but it’s adding up 🤣 Ty for the injora discount code
@@CapeCrawlers basically I’m trying to get as much performance without breaking the bank to much. I think the new electronics are out of budget, currently have a whole bunch of other projects on the go. Keep up the good work. Your videos are great quality and I love that your kids are getting into the hobbie too
i did some playing around with my bronco body if you heat up and bend the door panels inward so it hugs the frame it works extremely well for sliding over rocks and going threw tight spaces
@@CapeCrawlers it did for me because I made a mistake while trimming the wheal wells but it’s working surprisingly well and the plastic didn’t change coulor
Has anyone else done a rear steering conversion for their bronco trx4m yet? Brushless and rear steer are always first on my list of upgrades but now it crawls so well I don't know if ther is much left to do to it other than find some taillights.
Have just done both easy but costly. To do 4ws front axle goes right in need to cut rear center frame cross section shock mount and remove ESC. Then add in electronics for rear steer.
Thanks my brother is trying to get me into it and turned me on to your channel I really like your builds and was wondering how much this was going to cost me lol
I can do that in an upcoming video. It's fairly quick. It's still running the crawler gears, so it's not a rocket ship by any means, but that micro komodo can sing
@@CapeCrawlers oh I 💯 understand. I’m looking at getting one to crawl. We have a deadbolt, mostly stock and we love crawling with it, but we also just drive it around the house and would like just a TAD bit more speed. Though it looks so goofy with its stick bouncy shocks 😂. I know with stock gearing the trx4m is faster than the Scx24, but I was curious how it does fully decked out with crawling gears, extra weight, way better suspension, and most importantly brushless. I’ve only ever had 2 hobby grade RC’s, my axial and a 1/36th scale (if memory serves me correctly) from Losi Micro T. That thing was a blast, but I had it going 30+ MPH and broke it every time I played with it 😂
@@SYST3M_OVERIDE the springs that come with them are VERY stiff. The stock traxxas springs fit but I still felt like it was sitting too high for my liking.
@@vikingblood5775 I'll see if I can pop it off and put it on a deadbolt next time I'm doing work to it. I've seen some folks put deadbolt links on the buggy and it looks pretty rad; super stretched in the back
I’m pretty excited to see this go against your other rigs and see which one wins I’ve just built my Scx24 after watching some of your videos. Hoping Scx24 wins the head to head.
