Not very impressed by this new little mt ! Traxxas haters get your popcorn ready ! #traxxas #rc #monsterjam #rccar #4slipo #arrma #fpv #losilmt #artist #bashing
I'm definitely with you about the these ESCs and motors .. I was completely let down by them on their underwhelming performance on my trx4m Defender before upgrades. The truck is so awesome in so many ways, but wow have many other brands of micro crawlers I've picked up have been much more easier to work with/non-oem or perform far better after a few cheapish upgrades. Fast forward 6 months and my Defender is built up as far as I can improve upon it. I have a long, long list of upgrades and I love the heck out of it lol. Just out of the box, yeah, pretty much all the electronics and drivetrain are pretty weak and a headache to deal with. Pretty much agree with all the points you made on this trx4mt. I thought I was in the minority when I felt entirely unimpressed while watching other video reviews, while so many others in the comments are practically jumping at the chance to get one! I like the idea, I like the platform and size and all, but I wish Traxxas would have a proper mini monster truck at this scale and it doesn't have to be ungodly expensive either...but what we get feels very much a let down especially for the price. (Also if anyone sees this and you have a trx4mt and love it, more power to you and the last thing I'd be is a snob over a simple hobby... just my own opinions on the truck itself is all.)
I am unable to make the purchase for your reasons exactly. If it was 3 maybe 4 MPH faster I could race it on my small track and it would be perfect. But it's not fast enough for even the smallest track. Mine is 13 x 30 Do you recommend another?
I think it could be cool of you through the inJora 370 motor and a faster gear. I think it is just to expensive they should have dropped the hightail to 160 and sold those for 175
I like some of other Traxxas models (Rustler VXL, Stampede), but this is an epic fail, should have made it faster, bigger tires and also the suspension seems too stiff, it looks like a "toy" driving around. It may be ok if they dropped the price point by about $90-$100 and aimed it as a first RC for kids.
apparently, choosing the Tamiya antique 10-scale big-foot series / Losi-mini-LMT /FMS-fcx24 is a better choice! Mine already bought the late two...Tamiya has been discontinued. Traxxas provides a feature of 8-shock installation but no other parts like a real thing at all. At least Losi and FMS have put some effort into it.
Nice review, thanks. What about battery life, how many minutes of fun on one charge? Can it take a nimh battery instead, which one? How fast, km/hr? Also, are there different modes on the esc?
@@cheezmo2k I don’t recall saying it’s. Bad or terrible truck . I think the attemp by Traxxas was horrible and would have liked to seen it faster . I wish Traxxas would make a brushless version.
Buying this for my 5yo who is a huge fan of monster trucks. We made a high trail into a monster truck and he is getting to the point where he needs more speed and power. The MOFO torque beast X stock replacement motor seems to give enough extra boost. Definitely going to try some new motor options
@@ectorvalle4059 I’m not a cry baby I am pointing out the facts that this thing is slow . . It shouldn’t be this slow it’s shabby by Traxxas ! Using low speed gears when they have high speed gears available . They also could have came with a lower turn motor ! This thing don’t feel like a monster truck ! It’s not a crawler it’s a monster truck ! Make it a monster truck or keep making small crawlers ! It’s cool they redid the frame but I would have much rather seen a lower turn motor with high speed gearing !
After upgrading costs…might as well got the mini LMT. This so called monster truck is a turd compared to what’s out there. And I have like 10 Traxxas vehicles so def not a Traxxas Hater..but for 200 bucks this is pure garbage
@@jakesrcaddiction7519 You said it yourself, Traxxas is aiming for the younger generation, something other brands are failing to do. If an adult purchase it and wants more performance out of it they are capable of doing so. The "high speed gears" are not ideal with the stock weak motor because you will lose low end torque which a monster truck needs. Yes the mini LMTs are superior newer style RC monster trucks and great bashers to a point, but the TRX4MT is more like a vintage monster truck (The body is proof of that era). It's like a mini Tamiya Clodbuster to me. So comparing a Clodbuster to an LMT is no comparison, but I have bought both because I know they are different and enjoy them for what they are. In the end they are all fun!
The Losi 1/18 LMT is the only 1/18 Monster truck worth getting... Compared to the TRX4MT they have metal links, interior with driver, aluminium powder coated frame, fully licensed bodies with LED's and it's 1/10 basher fast! All for an extra $45
I was 100% disappointed with this release!! Haven't even looked at it twice!! And your review is exactly what I thought it was going to be!! Thanks for the awesome unboxing and review of this crappy RC truck!! From the moment I saw this truck, all I could think was why!! Especially when FMS a way better truck for a much better price 😉
I'm going with the TRAXXAS high trail I have both normal ones but not a lot good about taking crawler chassis and turning into monster truck stupid rest of M are amazing bronco rover and high trail M
You are complaining about the the smallest things! All the things you complained about have an easy and inexpensive remedy too! These RCs are also aimed towards children unlike competitive brands so keep that in mind. I think it's perfect because i like tinkering with my RCs! If i want it faster then I'll make it faster! That easy!🤦🏽
When I first saw the release announcement, I was like, cool! A 1/18-scale live-axle monster truck that doesn’t cost almost $300! Then I looked at the specs and a few videos and I’m just baffled at how Traxxas thought this was a good idea. The concept is sound (we can see that with the FMS FCX24 Smasher and the Losi mini LMT) but their execution is nothing short of baffling. Here’s a few things I would have done differently if I was in charge of developing this truck: First and foremost, put the XL2.5 ESC and the 30-turn 380 LaTrax motor (at the very least), given it the high-speed gearing, glued the tires, filled all 8 shocks with oil instead of just 4, and given it limited-slip diffs instead of fully locked ones. I don’t know who Traxxas expects to be the target market for this. Because on the one hand, it’s small and slow and looks good, so a little kid would maybe like it, but on the other hand, it’s $200, which is $70 more expensive than Arrma’s Granite Grom and the same price as Traxxas’ own 1/10 Stampede.
@Freakeye_RC same here. Many Traxxas rigs in my stable. You know they'll come out with upgrades that'll cost a good penny. But in my opinion, it should've been able to keep up with the Losi right out of the box.
@@ron486 I mean for that price it could’ve been at least as good as the fms smasher which also can’t compete with LMT mini but damn this is as slow as a trx4m.If I’m going to spend 200 on this plus trying to upgrade,I might as well just get another LMT mini…Traxxas yall Bogus for this one.
