I love these tires. I just put them on as well and oh man what a difference in traction and control! The truck stops on a dime, no ballooning and so much more control at high speeds. And that's with the TSM completely off.
Usually the pinoin coming loose is from the threads not being perfectly cleaned. Before installing a new or used pinoin gear make sure there's no packing oils or dried loctite left over. Also if the pinoin was used previously make sure you can run the set screw all the way through the pinoin. If not then this will limit how tight you can torque down the set screw. Also setting the gear mesh too tight with metal gears will cause heat build up which will soften the loctite and cause the pinoin to come off.
Something not mentioned. I found most pinions, the grub screw bottoms in threads before truly gripping shaft. Either run a tap through it or force the grub screw a turn extra off the motor to cut more thread and also if your temps are up there that releases locktite.
Some nice bashing man 👍 Got some good backflips in there and it survived a rough side landing 💪 I had my pinion let go a couple times as well. I'm running a Tekno pinion that has the larger grub screw and I use orange locktite now 👍
I have a Robinson Racing in there atm. If I have any issues dremaling down the motor shaft I’ll try the Tekno pinion. Crazy how this only happens on this truck.
@@JasonPerrinRCVlogs something about how that transmission is designed the truck doesn't like hard nose landings. At least that is when I had my pinion issues 👍
new to the XMaxx ! i mostly run on grass and packed dirt (baseball diamond). which Duratrax would you recommend ? Lockup X or Six Pack. do you vented the tires or run them as is?
I had the same issue. Are you using the stock pin system for the mesh? I found out it was setting my mesh too tight and causing the pinion to overheat and loosen up. Mesh it manually with a little bit of play and should be good to go.

What what wheel hexes are you using to hold the tires on cuz I just noticed putting Ray put my dirt tracks on at the stock wheel hex goes right in the hole on the dirt track six packs
Bad landing on mine yesterday and started getting a clicking noise now! Any suggestions as to what it might be? Thinking it's the drive shaft or diff! Sweet looking x maxx bro!
Where did you get the wheel nut to fit those tires on xmaxx ? I just purchased those tires for my xmaxx but the regular wheel nut does not cover the whole diameter . Please help?
Noel You must have accidentally bought the six pack x that are for the Kraton 8s. The center hole on those are larger and you just need the xmaxx 1/5 wheel adapter wheel hexes to run them.
Stangsandrcs4life i did buy the wrong ones thanks for ur replys i was able to figure it out . I didnt know they sold them for both cars. I was on a goose hunt going to fifferent hobby store to find the hex nuts to fill the whole but never found it . Than i went back to youtube and found out by ir replys so I appreciate it jeje 😎👍
Noel you didn’t purchase the Kraton ones. They come in two styles. One set is the Xmaxx size. Those you drill out the center so they can fit on the Kraton 8s. The other style is the 1/5 size. They are smaller than the xmaxx/Kraton size tires. Those are made for losi 5ive T. If your tire have SC in the name than you bought the smaller ones.
