This needs to be shared everywhere, and shouted from the rooftops (which I know is what you’re doing to by sharing such content). So many suffering without hope, and this provides - at a minimum - the hope they need. Beyond that, it seems like keto has the power to provide them actual healing too. Astounding stuff. Thank you for your efforts to educate people on this topic.
@@metabolicmind yes! From the rooftops of the abattoirs. Which is great coz what this world really needs, is more violence and cruelty (be it on people or utterly defenceless animals) right?
@@Osc1llateW1ldly Have you listened to the very real stories of suffering and recovery on this video? Have you ever seen the animals scramble on vegetable farms? When I drive my tractor across the pasture, and mow, more animals are killed than when I allow cows to graze. We can reduce the suffering of humans and animals and find a natural balance. This comment probably won’t change your mind, but maybe you’ll consider taking a vitamin B supplement, since you’re probably deficient.
@@metabolicmindThank you, I just found this channel today, and already I subbed! I haven't had the chance to check out all your videos yet (of course) so I just wanted to ask if you've discussed the wide variety of ways people can be keto? I'm asking because my pic is me, now, but I used to be obese (it's awfully easy, at my diminutive height, to cross the BMI line from "overweight" to "clinically obese"). I was also tired and sluggish and always hungry -- even after eating a whole serving BOWL (for a family!) of rice, or an entire large pizza, or six packages of ramen. . . carby stuff always. And I used to think that I couldn't go keto because I thought it required one to eat specific foods (like steak, for instance) but when I learned I could choose anything natural as long as it's carb-free, that was a paradigm shift for me. It took me about two years to get to the healthy BMI where I've stayed ever since; HOWEVER, long before my weight normalized, my energy was SO much better on keto! It's like getting a new energy source I never knew I could tap into. 🤗
@@Osc1llateW1ldly You can be keto without eating animals! I am, and it's vastly improved my life and health. I never thought I could be, but there are lots of great keto recipes online which are zero carb AND contain no animals.
The unspoken bit was: let less food be a medicine, let limited food types be a medicine, let no food in day light hours be a medicine, let no toxic additives or factory (Veg,Oil) ingredients be a medicine, .... this is what Hippocrates was on about. Sorry, so many inconvenient food things, all the sugar... and doctors never tell people.
Thank you. Heartening to see such changes in your patients. I have wasted so much time with psychiatrists that were only interested in writing scripts. It’s time for the shrinks to stop doing the same thing (prescribing drugs that don’t work) and expecting a different outcome. After 23 years on almost every conceivable anti-depressant and others I am starting the Keto diet. I hope to see some improvement soon. Already have more energy and mental clarity. I can finally see some hope.
We always recommend working with a trained clinician when starting ketogenic therapy. You can try this website to search for someone to work with www.diagnosisdiet.com/directory. If you can't find a psychiatrist, working with a coach, therapist, or dietician can be incredibly helpful, especially if they can help coordinate care with your doctor.
Good question. There isn't enough research or clinical experience with PTSD. At least not yet. There are ongoing studies that we will definitely report on once we see the results and as clinicians gain more experience.
Sorry you haven't seen any meaningful benefits yet. It may be worth working with a trained clinician to make sure you are giving it your best shot and see if there are any changes that may help. You can check out www.diagnosisdiet.com/directory to find a dietitian, coach, or other clinician who may be able to help.
There are many potential mechanisms how ketogenic therapy can improve multiple psychiatric symptoms. Improved fuel utilization, improved mitochondrial function, better metabolic health, neurotransmitter balance, decreased neuroinflammation, and many more!
Went on keto to try to help my severe anxiety - not knowing it was actually already being utilised in this way (I had only heard of it being discussed as a weightloss diet.) My anxiety is almost non-existent on keto and it happened within the first week. I will stick with it. 6 weeks in now.
Yes do stick with it. I been keto 2 years, and soon 2 years carnivore. Its a powerful tools to regain health. Depression gone, anxiety gone, stress gone, lost 30kg. Energy through the roof and feeling stable and calm, focused and planning for the future. Feeling the best in ny life ever. Never took medicine for health, meat and fat and fasting made me strong and happy. Now doing a master degree in my 50s, in project management and im so strong compare to my classmates. Examination easy peasy and so easy to learn, focused and concentration great. Have a blessed day This video is amazing 💓💓💓
@@Eliokd I sometimes automatically fast from 7pm to 11 am but I don't force myself. Esp in week before period I don't fast I eat when hungry. Still on keto and loving this way of eating but the odd time I will have a fruit smoothie or some potato, usually in the week before my period as I feel the need then. I should add i don't measure or weight anything, I just stick to healthy keto foods
Love Dr. Ede! I thought I was the only person in the world not tolerating beef very well until I heard Dr. Ede talk about her own food choices (and why she refrains from eating beef) in an interview with Kelly Hogan.
Georgia, you hit gold. It's high time other doctors woke up to this system. I'm not a doctor but I was saved the same way by an immunologist over thirty years ago in Queensland Au. That man saved my life.
The amount strong drugs they push on people is astounding. The less you need to take those the better. The awareness of risks is severly lacking. Why isn't diet a big concern in mental health care generally? It should be obvious that it, along with proper rest, are extremely important to any aspect of health. Why the narrow focus? And those psych pills themselves can mess up your metabolism; huge weight gain, weird cravings (even iatrogenic alcoholism), muscle loss... These tend to get brushed off too easily. Thank you for actually helping people!
Medications do have many risks (and they can also be helpful sometimes). We need to raise awareness and educate mental health professionals about these root cause interventions so that more practitioners will use them. I like to say that the most powerful way to change brain chemistry is through food because that's where the brain chemicals come from in the first place:)
@@GeorgiaEdeMDWell said. I survived a horrific illness when I was a teenager, I was even briefly clinically dead for a few minutes; so I've had to take two meds for sequelae from that; so I did NOT want to add more meds, even when I was obese and doctors would suggest meds for obesity, or meds for my anxiety and depression. On keto, I've gotten to a healthy BMI, and feel better overall too.
The woman you mentioned at the beginning of the video was exactly how I felt from the time I was 11 or 12 until my early 30s, except for the joint pain. I don’t feel great on keto, but I know I am doing better than I was.
Thank you so much , I really need a Dr to help my Son who has also ended up Hospital every time he tries to reduce his Clozapine. This has been every year for the last 17 years . Of course he gets worse as they then give him so many other drugs . He’s had his young life stolen from him . He’s home now and just starting the keto diet . I really need a Dr in the UK in the UK to help . Can you suggest someone please 🙏🙏🙏
My husband and I have been following the information from Metabolic mind for several months now. It was a revelation to me that lasting healing is possible through the ketogenic diet. I have had bipolar disorder 2 for decades. I went all in and to my great surprise I was out of the depression after a week. It seemed like a miracle. After 7 wonderful weeks I had a huge setback. I remain faithful to the diet and hope it does its job. Are there people with the same experience?
I experienced the same, with BP II. It became better with max 10g carbohydrates p/d and now with carnivore for 3 months I am doing really a lot better than with keto! Now trying to introduce fermented vegetables and lettuce. I hope you are doing well atm?! (Are you Dutch?because I am :-) )
I have had a similar experience. It was all good for 2 months and then things are not as good. I also slipped from the diet a lot. I'm trying to get back on it again
So many drugs...when all we need to do is eat a proper human diet. The system is broken, but firmly entrenched with the willing participation of doctors, the food industry, and the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Ede and a handful of others remind us what true humanity looks like. Thank you.
There are clinicians who use therapeutic ketosis as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for OCD and depression. We need more research to confirm it, but many would say the clinical experience is encouraging.
@@metabolicmind What is also very interesting is that a vegetarian and vegan diets (which are usually lower fat and higher in carbs) are associated according to several studies with a greater prevalence of depression (vegans having a worse prevalance and severity). And many substances found in meat and animal food are shown to be neuroprotective. Which would all speak not only for a ketogenic diet but for a ketogenic diet with a substantial amount of animal food or even for a carnivore/ketogenic diet. But of course, there is a lot of research need to be done and I wish "Metabolic Mind" could contribute much to this process..
Is anyone else having trouble sharing this video ? Every time I click the share button I get kicked off you tube . I have memory on my device so I know that’s not the issue
I feel SOOOOO much better on carnivore (than any other diet including keto). It has made all my issues (which I'm embarrassed to list) so much better except MCAS, which is still kicking my ass. I'm still trying to figure out how to do low histamine carnivore (hard to source the food locally). I miss bacon :( and burgers.
Deanna's experience was exactly like mine when I tried carnivore... for four or five weeks. Then for no apparent reason it all stopped. My symptoms came back and my mood, outlook and energy plummeted right back to where they were..
Congratulations on your success! Yes there are many ways to improve mental health using dietary changes, not just keto. Whole foods is a major and very healthy change that helps a lot of people. For some people, removing a particular inflammatory culprit (such as dairy, which causes trouble for some) does the trick. In all of the cases I shared, people switched from a "standard American" diet to a ketogenic or carnivore diet. Many changes involved, hard to know which one(s) most responsible. Some of my patients absolutely must be in ketosis to feel better, no matter what they're eating, so for some people, ketones seem to be required, but not all.
@CJS BRAVO! it’s great you’re doing well on a healthy diet! Every person is individualized what works for one may not be the answer for another! I think the common denominator is whole organic minimally processed food! I’ve done plant based low fat high carb and at the time it did improve my situation but not as much as I wanted! Lower carbs and increasing meat works better for me! My best to you! 🙏💥💕
