A muscle this size, covering so much of the posterolateral ribcage, will also have an influence on diaphragmatic function
A neuromuscular efficient core is required for the latissimus dorsi to provide the necessary forces to carry out some function at the glenohumeral joint.
Neuromuscular inefficiency sets up the foundation for repetitive stress and associated “frozen shoulder”-type symptoms. The latissimus dorsi decelerates lateral rotation, flexion, and abduction of the humerus in the glenohumeral joint.

I have been struggling with that mid side pain for 10 months now. Feels like I've been hit with a sharp tool. Also the 2 trigger points you mentioned are exactly where mine are. When I spoke to a physio over the phone, he suggested it was the rotator cuff issue. Did stretches for that and it only made me cramp up more. I'll now focus on the latissimus dorsi muscle and hopefully I'll feel better. You have given me hope.

Hello doeses this refer pain to the front chest behind the right breast?? Can you please exercise treatment for this and dobyou recommend ice or warm therapy on these muscles. And YES IT IS A NASTY UNFORGIVING PAIN THAT FEEKS LIKE TEETH BITING DOWN AND DOESNT LET GO. MY GOD NONE OF US DESERVE THIS PAIN. I can't even cry. Can someone please give sone encouragement I'm bit scared. You're all for sure in my prayers. God make all of you well. 🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤

Hi Cynthia, Latisimus Dorsi referral is usually posterior or over the deltoid, not to the chest behind the breast. It could be a trigger point in another muscle but it is really worth getting a qualified opinion, because other structures may be involved. Yes indeed. My ergonomics good as a 15 year drafter at the desk 10 hrs a day but my rotator cuff surgery has caused that exact spot to trigger pain. I don’t know what’s causing it but it is so bad I run off to the print room to relief my shoulder blade trigger point here you describe several times a day. Yes several times a day. Between post rotator cuff pain and the mouse at work I’m feeling tortured with a desk job. No relief in sight.

Trigger points ARE EXTREMELY painful. Find a Licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in trigger point therapy. I am a retired LMT. Trigger points block blood flow to the muscle. The muscle will ache and spasm. This is what I specialized in because it works if done properly!

I'm now beginning to think my pain is from this area. it's been 3 months since I've had extensive surgery on my shoulder. I've been dealing with it for 7 years and I thought the surgery would have fixed it but the pain is in the same spot as was pre-surgey and progressively getting worse after surgery. no change whatsoever! getting to the point where I can barely function, think or be in good mood. 3 sessions of physical therapy left. any suggestions?

Find a licensed massage therapist who specializes in trigger point therapy. I am a retired LMT and I specialized in trigger point therapy. These nasty trigger points will block blood flow to the muscle and the muscle will not be able to function properly. Circulation and blood flow is what you need. An example I have was a client who lost function in one leg for almost a year. I found the trigger points, worked them out and within 3 weeks, she was dancing and pain free. A good therapist will know how to find them and how to work them out. I wish you well.

Does bad posture triggers this? Our head forward is stretching this muscles. Got to correct our posture cause this pain is something else
@Nielasher
@Nielasher Год назад
Hi Hugh, Posture maybe involved, but crookedness as Paul Ingraham suggests is not the be all and end all of these problems. Correcting muscle imbalances may well help and often does but it doesn't mean it is the only cause. One needs to consider whether correcting posture could do more harm than good. How long has the patient beem experiencing symptoms. For example if the pain pain only started six months ago in a 40 year old person, why did it take that long to present? What were they doing for the other 30 odd years that were pain free. Good in depth clinical reasoning as to what Structures, Causes, Mechanisms of pain along with potential Contributing factors, is essential. NAT runs a good clinical reasoning course concerning this. How about if you have pain where the trigger point is?
@mjblue84
@mjblue84 Год назад
Retired LMT here. The trigger point will be painful. It's filled with toxins. Trigger points also block blood flow to the muscle. My favorite tool was my thumb and putting pressure on the point until I felt it release. Using a pain scale of 1 to 10, I would tell my client that 7 was the highest I would go. (You don't want to injure the muscle). Hold the point for about 15 to 20 seconds. I would also have my clients ice the area after therapy.

If it's a level 3 strain you won't heal without surgery. If it's been in pain for 3months, that's a sign it's a level 3 strain. Have a doctor do an MRI scan to pin point what exactly is wrong. This is your life we are speaking about, you only get one. Have a doctor help you. If you do not have insurance, apply for medicaid.
