We rejoin the Morgans as they decide to make a major statement: the rebuilding of their ancestral home. Gone is the stone (mostly) and in is the fashionable redbrick that signifies their new ascendant place in the world of Restoration South Wales. Goff and Paul guide us through the 17th and 18th centuries and encounter a spendthrift gambler, a glittering marriage, a 'troubled' wife (and how the Morgans dealt with a mental health crisis), and a ruinous court case. With male heirs running out, and with the curse of a Duke's daughter over their heads, will the Morgans survive the 18th century?

Fascinating and engaging again. Thank you! I look forward to your discussion of the 2nd Viscount, but it looks like that may take two more casts. As for this one, an extra thanks for the howls that the two gambling toddler portraits produced. I need such laughs, to keep me youngish.

hi, very funny, great presentation. really interesting facts and stories. My grandfather used to talk of the wild parties that Evan used to host. My grandfather was Sir Foster-Stedman's chauffeur and handyman, keep up the great work you're doing.

Thanks! Your grandfather wasn't a Mr Knight by any chance, was he? He gave a fascinating interview to Tredegar House back in 1989. Spoke all about starting with Sir Foster Stedman at Machen House in the 1930s. I'd love to hear the Evan party stories some time. We'll get to Evan eventually!

hi, yep, that's him. he led a fascinating life, was in Churchill's secret army, Bassaleg patrol, went to Africa to work for Sir Foster Stedman's daughter, Mrs Pickford, aswell as working for Sir Foster Stedman

Amazing stuff. I read that your grandfather was particularly fond of Sir Foster's grandson, Tony Pickford, and taught him to drive. I remember reading a book written by him 'Between Mountain and Marsh' a few years ago. It was a great loss that he died so young.

And yet another full enjoyable and open discussion the the Morgan family and the early part of Tredegar House. Really useful updated information and information that can be shared by the current house hosts covering the brown and guilt rooms. So yet again can't wait till you continue the history through the 19th century and onwards. Also extremely interested in your tease for the architecture part covering the house and lands.

Galeries Lafayette ( paris) .. the brew house tea rooms, where the stables were.... the Château de Fontainebleau would blush with common shame, having tea in a former stable, how shocking lol :)

Some great suggestions, there. We've done Wenvoe Castle, but all the rest certainly have potential. Thanks!
