Tree planting | Backyard and Mailbox facelift | Summer 2024 project 

I wanted to plant some trees to get shade, fresh air, and make the deck usable during summer. The deluge during spring killed a few plants in the backyard. There were a lot of weeds around the mailbox. It was time to give some facelift to the mailbox and backyard.
I hesitated a bit due to the ongoing heatwaves. I determined to make it count. Despite the heatwave, I dug all three holes and shoveled 3 yards of soil. It was exhausting to work on hot days but it gave me a perspective about those working under the sun with little to no recourse.
My girls helped a lot. We planted three Muskogee Creepmyrtle saplings:
1) The first tree was in memory of my parents and ancestors.
2) The Second tree is to honor and thank those who made and continue to make sacrifices so we can enjoy freedom.
2) The third tree was in memory of Brian Joseph Moore. He is a first responder and a nephew of my friend. He lost his life while on his way to work. You can learn more about Brian at www.torbertfun...
