This is probably one of the cooler videos you've done, it felt like real time and your Hollywood style all in one. Getting to hear all sides of the conversation was very cool
love the recording of sena Convo do it more often like to hear Ur guys work tlk, more feel for the work love Ur work August got my mb saddle couple months ago thnx ive learned a lot from u, Nick- Minnesota
Just watched this with the kids, now they are guessing the weights of every tree in the yard! Good stuff, thanks for putting so much effort toward making great videos!
The sound is not that big of a problem. You are leading the pack on new technology, there are few others doing real life experiments with the issues that you face. It’s great being able to hear real time what goes on during the work. “Top Notch “ job!
Thanks for posting up more good stuff August. Love the weight guessing game! It's amazing the difference a little bit of shock loading can make. I'm no "tech" smart guy and I so very much appreciate people who know about stuff like that. Getting everyone's conversation to come through on the video is awesome! Thanks again for all the time and effort to post your videos. Be safe brother. Randy
August. this is way past, great work with that speed line, but your gloves, what brand, are they, looks flexible as well as protect your fingers , important ! Cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Very entertaining with the sound, even with the crackle. If I was looking for a job I'd come out there and bug you for one. Your repour with your guys is way better than any boss I've ever had. Your scope of everything going on around you is exceptional, Home owner without a hard hat, climbing rope interference with other ropes and chunks coming off the tree, etc.. And when Adam cought that piece of wedge in your face cut, shows that your standard of observation for safety is rubbing off. Great vids and a great bunch of guys. Stay safe.
Awesome video! Pretty cool how the comm device is now recorded through the gopro! Reon Rounds has some cool gadgets, that make things existing things beter! People thinking outside the box making things that work, work better! Keep it up
Yup stuck it out to the end. Nope didn't mind the static. Those intercoms seem to get lil crackly if someone gets out of range. Last job we had to go around the block to load and it was getting rather annoying. I don't know what I would do with out them though! Really enjoyed this video. Had a shit eatin grin whole time. You guys are awesome!
I think the helmet communication on video is so cool ! August your defenitly pioneering a new way youtube videos are being filmed! Youl figure it out soon enough i know its frustrating dealing with the techy stuff. I know ive complemented when youve done this kind of thing previously and i thank you for trying to do more of it!
First time seeing this video. Sorry to hear you like the Sena radios. I can only assume it’s because you have not tried the CARDO PACTALK radios. We trashed all or Sena radios and went with CARDO. Yes, we have to adapt them to our helmets, but it is well worth it. I can put a radio on all 10 of my workers and talk to each of them, you can’t do that with Sena. If I want to, I can split those 10 into individual groups of 5 or 4 or whatever I want. I am not a rep for CARDO, but after 3 years of testing helmet radios they worked the best for us.
Seems like you might be confused about the physics here. The first branch dropped measured 1,4xx lbf. If I’m not mistaken, that measurement was PEAK force. This is not to be confused with TOTAL force, nor is it the actual weight of the limb. Peak force represents the point at which the most sudden deceleration occurs. Total force is going to be the same either way. Think of a car coming to a stop from 40mph. Whether it hits a brick wall, or slowly comes to a stop, the total force is the same, only dispersed over longer period of time. The peak force is when the brakes are pressed the hardest, and the actual weight is the pure mass of the car times the acceleration of gravity.
Keith Thorne No confusion of understanding, excepting terminology. I just meant the heaviest dynamic weight spike that registered on the scale. And of course nearly double that weight the spar had to endure.
i love these 30-40 min videos, percfect length to watch during my lunch. Question - when youre climbing that first tree with no limbs, are you only using a flip line? thanks for letting me dream man
Gah at 9:40 I was just praying that when that piece was still suspended, but close-to-snubbed, that it'd been allowed to settle to still-ness and get a reading of its actual/static weight for comparison to peak-dynamic (though I'm not even sure if the Enforcer would allow you to toggle from slow/static setting to fast/dynamic setting on the same run, although of course the log could be cut with it set to dynamic and, after obtaining the peak-force, it could just be reset to slow/static mode and the limb lifted/hoisted up and tied-off), SO darn curious about %-variance of static-log-weight to peak-dynamic-force, as well as %variance in that ratio from log-to-log when using the same crew that's aiming to be as consistent as they possibly can be! Maybe you do have vids with such info (at least static-weight + dynamic-peak for a single cut) that I've missed so far, haven't finished your library yet, but if not I'd love to hear any guesses as I've no idea how much variance in peak-dynamic there'd be if the same crew were repeatedly catching/running/controlling the same-static-weight piece over and over, am guessing variances in peak-dynamic would be within 25% but hearing they were over 100% varied certainly wouldn't shock me! (LOL 'shock', shock-load....bad pun but it was unintentional so leaving it :) ) Thanks a ton for actually doing long-form videos with the Enforcer there are WAY too-few of these, major kudos man I hope all is well in Hunicke-world ;D (the disney theming here had me cracking up!! :D )
Love the video and the sound from all the guys, but hate the crapy sound quality. I´m soo looking forward to more videos with clear sound :-) All the best from Norway.
So weight of section = wood density + moisture in wood + drop effect? Crane can measure it without bounce effect. Would be interesting to see just how far off you are in those cases.
Make sure all the firmware is up to date for less popcorn. Or you can just switch to Packtalk and ditch all Sena issues. Bad mic connections will also cause static.
Jamison Timberfalling there was no static in our headsets it was just recorded through the go Pro.. Can you run everyone’s Convo through pack talk and record through go pro?
Not sure about the recording. I just assumed that the popcorn noises were from the Sena intercom. We've had issues with the microphones going out. Updating seemed to help.
The company I'm with now is using Packtalk. There's no individual pairing required, so we just turn our units on and talk. Cardo doesn't have as many accessories as Sena though.
Ok the sound thing was bad , but you will sort it and it was great to hear the coms between you guys and the vid was awsome too . Once again I was guessing all the way ..... badly also. Great job team
Always love the vids. I’ve got that communication system. Was wondering how your getting the audio of the convos on headsets to video. Somehow linking into the GoPros?
the in-helmet com is incredible, just make sure its being used correctly ... how can anyone use it incorrectly you might ask..? well this one climber i used to work with would link his to his phone and talk to his girlfriend while he was in the tree... that ended when he sent a 60 foot whiteoak top the wrong on his own head and tore the ear muffs off... he didnt know you can just replace the muffs so we just told him he ruined thw whole thing
are you measuring the piece 's weight or the maximum dynamic force of the piece exerted on the weihing kit.? that would mess with your estimations of the weight of things...
68 th. Hi guys ill be guessing with sound off. I just wanted to let you know ill be back in the game on the 29th. In receiving my new martin bionics socketless socket. It will allow for more adjustment. I will be able to do a hole lot more hours. Be well. BMB
Great music 🎶 intro... Idea 💡 what about doing a Sesame Street "epicsode" (new word) lil theme song “sunny days” lol today’s picks brought to you by zig zag ahh ahh ahh and tachyon... REPLY
@@AugustHunicke haha, that's the best reason!!!! I plan on one day dressing as Spider Man when climbing!!! Going on 2 or 3 years with your MB harness, absolutely love it man! Blessings.
Didn't have time to watch the whole clip. My wife bought a hero 5 for me for Christmas. I bought the audio adapter and put a lapel mic in the ear speaker. Assuming that's what you did. The sound works ok , too bad you beat me to the video. Haha yours is worth watching anyway. I never posted the video for fear someone would go into an epileptic seizure.... Never had a camera on the brain bucket. It'll take some work/practice.
Jacob Gilkerson lol @ seizure. Yeah there was some footage for this video that didn’t make it into the video (mega crackle) where I was mentioning you by name with regard to helmet com go Pro stuff.
Sometimes I work with an old time climber and he always want the climber to run the rigging. Drives me fuckin nuts. But he hires incompetent groundman. Need an A team to kill it in tree work.
August Hunicke thanks. Looks like a sweet adjuster, I saw that you used it on that "adjustable bridge" for your MB saddle. Want to make an adjustable bridge for my ergolite.
