I needed this little stroll through your garden today. What a successful planting you and John have done. It comes to mind the saying, “A society grows great when old men (or women) plant trees, under whose shade they know they may never sit.” You are such a gem, dear Kate! ❤🌳❤️
Eileen always watching through the window, or splashing about the pond, the plethora of trees and climbers, the tiny cottage and happy place for you, love the structure you are bringing!
I heard a quick comment about planting for the future generation. How lovely to develop your land, not only for your own pleasure in mind, but also that of your family members. I've been noticing that here in Canada that families whose culture tends to keep families together are happier. You seem to have created a family that understands and accepts their responsibility to help you. At the same time, you're an easy, happy person to be around!! I loved the tour.
Your garden and cabin are lovely and thank you for sharing. The goose is not Eileen and it spoke to you in both videos but you did not acknowledge the poor thing. There is a delightful you tube channel Cog Hill Farm I think you would enjoy of an Alabama family homestead. There are all sorts of animals, fowl and gardening featured
Your garden and trees are beautiful, Kate! You not only have a talented needle, but a green thumb, as well! I so enjoy your ventures! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻
I am a bit like you, Kate, in that I love a wild, bushy kind of garden, in that it attracts all kinds of wildlife and little creatures. What a variety of trees you have planted. I never realized that your garden was so large. Your life is full of 'bits and bobs' Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
What a lovely tour of your garden! I enjoyed hearing about and seeing all of your marvelous plantings. You and John did a great job planting all of those trees. You continue to inspire me!🐸🦎🐛🦋
Oh what a pleasure...I just love trees...I hate it when ever i see a developer chopping down beautiful trees t o build yet another housing development...we don't need more houses - (there are plenty that are standing empty)...we need trees!!
My nephew planted a pine tree in my mom’s yard, and decades later she wouldn’t trim it even when it was blocking everything-it represented her love for her 30+ yo first grandchild. I can so understand that steady love, embodied in John’s oak.
Lovely to see the planted trees doing so well. In Scotland in the rural area of the Highlands most homes had a Rowan in the garden. Superstition - they are supposed to keep witches away.
Ilene wasn't too keen on having folks around her pond. She made me smile. Lovely trees 😊. I remember when you would bend the willow branches around each other along the willow walkway. Thank you for the tree tour😊❤!
When my daughter Hazel was born( a winter baby) my father planted a Witch Hazel tree in his yard. She is now off to college and the tree is quite lovely.
What a great garden! All these trees will hopefully be around for the future. You are a good custodian of the nature around you Kate. Thank you for sharing
Lovely! When I'm out riding, it is so special to go through an archway of trees. You are a good steward of your land. I try to do the same here, getting trees from the Dept. of Environmental Conservation. When I walk among my white pines, they are 29 years old now, grown up and providing me with pine needle mulch, a wind break, and beauty, I remember planting them when a bundle of 25 tiny saplings fit in my hands. I'm making some pine sap cough drops in a few days, so they are also providing me with a natural medicine.
❤ My house in California was part of a property developed as a farm in the 1840’s, owned by a woman named Isabella. My house is from 1940. It’s along the river. I have elder, oak, lemon, orange, almond, black walnut, olive, loquat, the plum died during the last drought, and mulberry. It all just does its thing. …the grape too it’s so old it’s more like trees than vines. 🌈🌈🦋🦋
Thank you Kate and Anna, your trees are looking beautiful. You live in a lovely part of the country and it’s a joy to see your enthusiasm for the wilder bits.
Hello Kate. Thank you for sharing your sewing and garden of trees and your wisdom to appreciate their fruits and nuts, and oxygenation that supports our lives. Absolutely AWESOME !!! Bravo to you !!! Keep living so blessed with the Nature God provides us with with a little bit of work and caring on our part. ❤
Kate, hello from Georgia in the US. I remember when you and Jon planted those; I can't believe that was 1 1/2 yrs ago. I absolutely love trees; they fascinate me with all the different colors and shapes. I look forward to seeing their progress. Thank you for sharing all your adventures with us on the lime green sofa. Take care.
So lovely..your my kinda people, you remind me so much of my family. We lived in country just north of Seattle. Farm, horses goats, fruit trees and gardens❤
I love the different levels of green the Aussie in me wants to whipper snip not only because of snakes but fire danger is always at the front of my mind. Lucky its not a problem there
Kate I love your home and garden. I would love a cabin you have for my sewing and other crafts. But my family I don’t think I would have to have someone walk with me. I have had a lot of falls ,but I think it would make me much better. So I get joy from your home. Thank you so much. Have a safe and blessed day.
TREETASTIC...looking wonderful... and ANT is going to be busy... looking forward to seeing his work on the trees and bushes xx Greetings from Amsterdam xx
Thank you for sharing with us your lovely, peaceful place and your delightful projects. It fills my heart with wonder and joy... helps me look for the ways I want to build wonder where I am. I live in Texas, and it's hard to grow things here, but I join you for quilting projects. And maybe I will take on the weeds between the flagstones in my own yard when the weather cools off.
❤I would love to be following you around your garden 😊🇺🇸I am from the swampy south. Louisiana. This makes me happy to know someone else has a love of trees 🌳
The baby trees are doing quite well. I'm so happy for you. I guess that's what happens when water falls from the sky, eh? LOL - it's a real struggle to get things to grow here in the desert and even native plants are a challenge, but I'm trying. Thank you for the tour. I love what you've done there. All those years in one place and a real love of nature shows in the wonderful results.
Thank you Kate! We are about to move to our new home on 4.1 acres of mostly natural wild land. Your video is very inspiring, as we want to plant trees out from the house, where currently it is an empty field of grass. 💖🤗
dear Kate......good morning ....I sit with my early coffee(5 am) and watch your video................what a beautiful project with all the trees...........Blessings and Greetings from Daggy,Kiel,Germany..........and your gouse is fantastic(forgot her name, sorry)☘☘☘
Hi Kate, how lucky that you are able to keep the apples on the trees. The cockatoos strip my apple and pear trees before the fruit is ripe. They just say “thanks for lunch”! Cheers from Melbourne.
Thank you Kate for the lovely stroll through your garden. The filming also was so well done. Felt like I was right there with you. - but I’m actually in South Australia where unfortunately it is very dry so I am not able to have a lot of your type of trees. However we do have several Manchurian Pears, Cherry Trees, Prunus, etc. on our suburban block.
Thank you indeed. Yes my our Trees do grow. I have a huge Oak that I love to bits. Many many acorns this year which the Old Wifes tell me means a Heavy Snow Winter. I'll keep you posted. S 🇨🇦
Love the Honeysuckle, its classed as a problem plant here which is a shame as I grew up smelling their beautiful scent. Love your Trees and what an awesome planting for your next generation. Huge Hugs from NZ xx
Thank you Kate for the tour of your garden. The trees are wonderful, I adore trees and bought an Alder Tree from my local parks dept to have planted in the public area. Take care. 🌳🍅
`Pork and apples for dinner? Yum! I always make stewed apples when we're having pork. I am watching your tree tour with fascination and not just a little envy. Here in North Texas, where we just finished a week of uninterrupted 100+ degree days, we're lucky to grow peach and mulberry trees fairly easily.
Oh Kate I can't believe you have a russet apple tree & don't like them😮. They are one of my favourites. I am also very fond of a Discovery, the smell of them is amazing. We are lucky to have so many fantastic varieties of apples in the UK❤
Lovely meander around your garden Kate. Thankyou. I used to make ‘saki’ from rowan berries.. makes a really dry white wine which I used to give to folk for Christmas. Much love Lynne (Sunderland) 💐🦋
Thank you for sharing your trees! I ❤ trees! Grew up helping my dad plant trees and have planted some in my adult years. Are the red berries edible? They look so tempting and there is nothing like fresh from the tree! Oh how I miss those days. Elderberry can be used to make juices for cold prevention. I see you planted one of my favorites, that being dogwood! Beautiful blooms in yhe Spring and awesomely beautiful colorful leaves in the Fall. Deer are terrible here too. Took out 2 of our service berries and had to replace them. Ended up putting a fence around the new ones. Now they have attacked our new blue spruces and some have actually survived. Some have not. Here in most US states deer can be hunted on your own paper, but have to fill out paperwork. Don't want to kill the babies, just the bucks as they are the tree destroyers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful new trees! I truly enjoy seeing them growing and thriving!
Awww, this was lovely! I loved the bit at the end where we got to see how the green/living roof is doing on the cottage! One thing I was thinking Kate - you're so lucky to have all this knowledge about plants and trees and I'm sure it's something you don't think twice about. I didn't grow up with a garden, it was just my mum and I, so we lived in small flats or with my Granny, so I never learned those skills - which I realise now, just how much I wish I had that head-full of knowledge that you do! So, thank you for sharing, it means a lot to me. xx
Oh that willow tunnel. From age 4-7 my family lived on a dairy in NE Washington State . I played on a small hill topped by willows just like yours. Dolls made from sticks, make believe at it's best. An early read was Wind in the Willows to ignite my imagination.❤
