Trek Remedy Review | 3 year long term
Well used but still going strong! I've had this 2017 Remedy 8 going on 3 years now and it is still performing just as well as ever.
Although I have upgraded certain components, none of the parts I replaced were due to a failure...and I think that's pretty freaking awesome!
If you're looking for a bike that likes to be rowdy and playful, then the Remedy might be a good choice for you.
I had zero complaints before, and now with the upgrades I've chosen, it is even better.

Looks like an awesome bike and it’s one I’m considering buying. Thanks for taking the time to make a video on it. Cheers

Concise review! Not sure if you're a beer drinker but you should hook up with the Bo Bo crew, they were just at Beech. Couldn't hurt the channel growth. Keep pedaling, Dave...

Yeah, I'm hoping to meet them at some point. We ride many of the same trails so its bound to happen. I appreciate you watching btw!

Good review. I'm on my second Remedy. I looked at other bikes but this one made even more sense the second time around.
@PedalingDave

That's cool. How many years did you have the first one?
@MTBMichigan
@MTBMichigan 4 года назад
@@PedalingDave the first one was a 2015. I updated it to a 2019 because I really should have bought a 19.5 frame and not the 18.5. I looked at shop many other options, but came back to the Remedy.

Years back, (like 10 or so) Trek hired a suspension/linkage guy that really turned that company around. For a long time they had sub-standard suspension characteristics, but that guy they brought on got'em pointed in the right direction. Glad you like your bike, it's more fun that way!!

So much has changed with suspension in the last 10 years, and for the good! 10 years ago for me was a 26" wheeled steel singlespeed. I finally got over that, lol!

@@PedalingDave I've never been on a hard tail mountain bike believe it or not. My first mountain bike was a GT RTS 3, my second was a Schwinn all Mtn. S10. Went from motos to mtn. bikes, fully squished seemed like the way to go!! :)

I started mtb’s in 81 with Schwin chromoly no shocks, loved it. At 61 I ride an 2008 Remedy 8. I trail ride, sight see and just enjoy mountain trails. Love the bike. I see no reason to upgrade. I don’t race. Not looking for speed just all around capability in getting their smooth and without problems or pain. Love my bike

@@flatheadfletch That's great. I'm about 9 years behind you in age and I love my current mtb's as well. I don't see me upgrading my trail bike any time soon, if ever, and my DH bike will probably get one more update in a few years. Ride on!!

I'm on a Specialized Epic. Thinking about a new ride. A lot of people around here(Louisville) have been going to Ibis brand. The Ripmo and Ripley have been getting good reviews.

I'm pretty impressed with what I've been reading/watching on the Ibis Ripmo AF. I tend to go for aluminum bikes with higher spec components as the value is hard to beat. I am hoping to demo that Ibis at an upcoming demo as well. Thanks for watching too btw!!

Great review thanks man. Looking at buying this bike and hitting windrock.
@PedalingDave

For Windrock, even though it does ok, I'd go with a little bigger bike if possible. Have you been to windrock yet? It's steep and super gnarly...the only park thus far that I felt I needed more bike. Everywhere else it has been plenty.

Thanks for the response! I’m actually trying to decide between the 2017 Remedy 8 and the 2017 Diamondback Mission 2. The mission has 160mm travel front and rear, and that was maybe going to push me over the edge to get the mission instead of the remedy. Seems you might agree?
@simsp4124

And I have not been to windrock yet but don’t live too far and look forward to going a couple times this summer.
@PedalingDave
@PedalingDave 4 года назад
Well, travel isn't necessarily the only factor and I upgraded the spring in my Remedy 8 and it's now 160mm...that changed the head angle to approximately 65.5 degrees. The head angle can make a significant impact as to how it handles the steeps. I cant speak to the other bike but I have ridden the Remedy at Windrock. If brakes are the stock deore 2 piston, you'll do well to upgrade to a more powerful 4 piston version. That's what I did and it was the right choice. Made it much better! If you will only have one bike my vote def goes to the Trek. Fot big park days like at the Rock, renting a full DH is a great option as well.

I'm probably to late but do you think it is a good deal if i can get trek remedy 8 2017 with rockshox pike 160mm, rockshox deluxe rt3 150mm, xt brakes with 203mm rotors and e*thirteen trs+ dropper post 170mm for around 1800euros
@PedalingDave
@PedalingDave 3 года назад
I'd dare say yes. Current used market supports that price which is around 2100 USD. If it's still in good shape I'd do it. My 17 Remedy is still going strong and I ride it the most of all my bikes.
