People show up early to give a dislike on a good video??? Hey Matty, you ride those trails with friends to decrease those odds of getting mauled if you run into a mountain lion. Just remember, you only have to be faster than the other person 😂
Always a pleasure to see you bank new adventures ! Hey you should look into works components angled headsets -2 degree . Allot of us Roscoe guys are extending the fork travel to 140/150( you can remove spacers in the fork and bump it all the way to 160 ) And added the angled headset this changes the head angle from 67.3 to 65 ish The back rides soooooooo much better and it really makes the hard technical DH way easier and composed . Keep on keeping on !!!
Julian Hart you have the 35RL Go to the rockshox sram site plug in your serial number and download the manual it shows you the pic in there ( can be adjusted from 100-160 ) But it requires a lower leg service and might as well drop a token in lol . I’m running 140mm on a 2020 R7 with the slacker head angle , 4 piston brakes riser bars oval chain all GX and DUB BB and upgraded rear hub . It’s pretty tricked out . Yours is newer and has good brakes and a good rear hub so you might want to upgrade to a DUB BB later ( but I can’t recommend the angled headset enough )
Crosier on a hardtail is very impressive, it is very steep and rough. I think that was the least gnarly of the 3 trails too. The Garden Gate trail (the longer trail down by Drake) has a double black rating and is one of the most difficult descents on the front range.
Hey Matty. I love your vids. Riding new trails is always the best. I live in Boulder and know most of the local trails. I’d love to ride with you some time. I have a hardtail too!
I never did this but i heard you can take out a couple links in chain to tighten up the slap a little. My roscoe is new right now and chain is tight af. Im sure its going to get loose.
I'd ask a bike shop before doing that. It might be more of an urban legend. Most of the reduction in chain slap comes from a good clutched rear derailleur. Wrapping your chainstays might help too but frankly hardtails make noise as they bounce around when you get shreddy.
My 1 month old Procalibre 9.7 is for the 2nd time in the shop because the front Reba fork has to be replaced and they landed me the Supercalibre 9.7. and tommorow I will test it on a donwhill ride but not so hard tarrain as yours 😀.
To cure the rattling problem, cut an old inner tube in half and then use one of the pieces to tightly wrap around your driveside chainstay. Then use zip ties to secure both ends. Cheapest bike hack ever.
Hey Matty, could you turn up the dB in your editing software for your narrations in the beginning? It's hard to hear you without cranking up volume, then the music starts and its crazy loud
Check out the Lizard Skins chain stay protector. Or if you have an old tube wrap it around the chain stay and it should help quiet things down. I cant wait till you move up to a full suspension. I would definitely suggest the Remedy. It climbs really well and it just bombs down the hill.
Chain slap - wrap an old rubber inner tube around the part of the bike frame that goes under the chain, secure it with tie-wraps. I would NOT recommend tightening the chain (no offense to those who suggest it). Chain slap is pretty normal, just make it 'slap' on rubber instead of metal. Here's a youtube video (not mine) that will give you an idea, the good part of the video starts at about the 3:00 minute mark... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s-jIKxufdvc.html
@@MattyActive thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m enjoying your videos. I’m a road bike guy but i want to mix things up and the videos of you on your Roscoe inspired me. It’s a great looking bike and it’ll be my first MTB. Keep up the good work and all the best to you 👍
Piers Gudgeon i also moved my brake levers and shifting levers. Just so my thimb does jot get caught. . Love the roscoe 8 and love the videos matty. Keep em coming.
Great ride. You need to put a track behind that video! How did the bike hold up? Just got a Roscoe 8 the other day...been waiting for it dry up and warm up to get on the trails...can't wait to see how it performs.
A bicycle tube as a chainstay protector it's the easiest, and you can cutt a little peace of bicycle tube to tie up the front cables so you don't hear that rattle. Other people even put some gap filler rod around their front cables and they don't even disconnect any cable to silence them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xM43hA3CTSM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oBWhBM7KEoQ.html That sign about wild animals it's kind of scary, you could end it up like the barbecue
Also curious about the chain noise how to make that go away I have a Trek marlin 6 2021 also beast on trails if your ever out in grapevine tx Northshore trail is beast!
