Yes we know! This is a bit of a daft comparison... But we had both these bikes available so we thought why not compare a £650 entry level XC mountain bike to a £4250 enduro MTB beast!

Marlins are brilliant because they’re perfect for people to dip their toes into mountain biking without breaking the bank. I’ve had one since 2021 & it’s such a fun little bike as long as you’re not being too ambitious with the trails you’re riding 😂😂

Obviously it's hard pitting two bikes with a $3750 price difference against each other, however somehow you've managed to create a really fun and entertaining video. Aside from the montage music being a little loud (just a touch) I can't think of anything I would change with this video!! Thanks for the content!

Thanks for the love dude! 😁 We were going to compare a 1996 Trek Y33 to the Slash (old vs new) but the shock blew an hour before filming so we last minute switched to the Marlin. It was a silly one but I'm glad you enjoyed watching it! Thanks for the constructive feedback to man 💚😎

The Marlin is a perfect entry level bike. Get to learn the ins and outs of MTB, and figuring out what type of trail riding you like. The Slash I would recommend more for the intermediate and advanced riders.

That's basically what I would say to anyone wanting to know 😁 Start with a Marlin or something similar and progress from there. If it's your thing, maybe you'll end up shredding on a Slash 🤘😎

I would recommend opting for the roscoe instead of the marlin

Agreed, if you have the money and want to progress your riding, Roscoe would be the next step up for sure 👍 😎

Same; I just bought a Roscoe 7 at the start of this month and it's already proven to be a much better bike through all the small details that make it a much more fun. It's also much easier to upgrade, which is sweet. However the Roscoe 7 is more than double the Marlin 6 so it's easy to see why some people would rather go with the Marlin.

I have a marlin 8 gen 2 its amazing but... what upgrades would everyone recommend. I was thinking tubeless setup, carbon bars and new pedals that are more aggressive. If you have an tips please reply to this comment. Thanks.🙂

Hey dude 👋 thanks for comment! So for me, some important upgrades I wouldn't compromise on are: dropper post, tubeless setup, decent pedals. Carbon bars etc aren't as important unless I'm trying to reduce weight 👌 Happy trails 🤙

Thanks, exactly what I was thinking accept that it’s not dropper compatible unless you drill 2 holes in a the down tube😕

An externally routed dropper would be absolutely sound. Might not be as attractive but functionally, they're exactly the same 👌

Dropper and pedals would be the first things I would do, wireless dropper would be nice but a rip off at £400, externally routed ones with a cable are under £100 🎉
