Trekking in Ba Be National Park | 🇻🇳 Waterfalls, Rice Fields, Rural Village Life
About this video:
Welcome to our latest journey to the remotest of the remotest North Vietnam!!
Trekking in the Ba Be Lake region is also another must do!
One of our first stops along the lake is where Queen's mother was born. It's a pretty village of the Tay people called the Cam Ha village.
Along the walk, we learnt some very interesting facts bout the people that live in and around the Ba Be Lake region. The different tribes have their own unique languages. The way they tend to communicate across tribes is via the Vietnamese language bringing everyone together.
The food they would typically eat here is either fish or pork with some locally farmed vegetables and rice.
Corn grown here predominantly is used to make food for the pigs. Most families have some pigs n would good up pig feed once every 2 days.
Back in the day, people here used to make small boats by cutting trees down. Now, there is a forestry department that protects this national park. Hence, this is no longer allowed.
As we walk along this village, everything here feels so lush and organic. It's a quiet village, and they seem to grow a lot of corn, sugarcane n have their own vegetable and fruit gardens.
We spot a local school and were super excited to stop by and distribute some lollies to the kids and teachers. The teachers and children were shy but welcoming of us. It happened to be lunchtime, so Om and I decided to entertain them by singing some songs to them. The children were so tickled and giggling. Made us feel so happy from within. For me personally, it super enriches my soul to make children laugh.
Next up, we head on to Queen's mother's childhood home. His grandmother is still living in that very same house with his uncle and family. He lost his grandfather last year, so they have placed an alter in their home to remember him by. Queen allowed us to pay our respect to his grandpa with some joysticks. We also found out that Queen had never had a photograph taken with his grandmother, so this had to be done. It was simply a beautiful moment.
Next, we continue on the boat to another village to see a waterfall. We fuel up first with a super yummy locally cooked meal of rice, cabbage, chicken, fish, spring rolls, and potatoes.
The trek to the waterfall is a decent 30-minute walk. Some paths are a little unkempt but manageable to do. It's a decent find, considering we came off a lake.
Again, we continue our journey back on the lake, and this is our last stop for walking. We are going to spend this last stretch trekking thru Ba Be National Park.
As we begin our walk, this path already looks really unkempt! I'm terrified a little that we may encounter snakes, but try to say on point to enjoy the surrounding views. But to say they I was finally able to see how these mountain has some green on them was amazing. We spotted a tower that apparently had great views. So Om and Queen climbed up to have a more birds eye view of the lake. Overall, I'd still vote for trekking through this national park. At least some part of it just to admire the wonders of nature.

About us
--------------
We are Mayur, Gayatri and Om residing in sunny Singapore. Amongst us we have an Indian who grew up in India, a Singaporean ceylonese who spent decade of her life in Australia and lastly our son, a true born citizen of the mixes, half Indian, half ceylonese and very Singaporean.
Our videos mainly consist of mountain climbing trips, some solo journeys but mostly of our family of 3. We thrive with each others company on our road less travelled in our own unique style. We really love off the beaten kind of adventures, eating local food, meeting ethnic tribes, going back in time with some historical sites and simply getting lost. Being in corporate job for the daily survival, our dream here is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and realise that there is more in life than just 9 to 5.
