I've put these poles through hell haha, check out my Tower of Babel video, one of them got so scratched up on that hike but still works perfectly fine!

These are also great to double up as a pair of nunchucks when someone tries to get into your tent during the night.

Thank you. Great review. On the basis of your video, I've just ordered myself a pair. I've used traditional twist and clamp lock poles for years and have been using a pair of Leki Makalu Strongs for the past two years, but when collapsed they're all still pretty long (my Lekis are 71cm (28") when collapsed, for example). I've often thought of getting some z-poles just for the compactness when folded and these seem like a great entry into that world for me. So, thanks again! :-)

Bought these poles and I agree they are quite decent but definitely agree about the attachments coming loose, I’ve lost 3 already in the snow and mud. The main gripe is removing the pin lock for the straps, it just will not come out no matter which way I push. Now I have one pole with no strap because it came out and it’s seems impossible to get back in.

I just got me a pair of these poles, pretty decent quality for the price.

Really light is kinda relative. I'm training and getting gear for a 850km hike so every gram counts and I think these are pretty heavy compared what's out there. I am looking for aluminium poles and I'll be pitching my tent with one of them so a quick-lock would be nice. I Don't trust carbon and don't wanna be paying over 100€ for poles. It's hard to believe these are the best option for me but they are highly recommended for budget option. These actually might be the ones to get.

Over a year after I posted this video I'm still using these poles. One of them the handle keeps popping off in mud or deep snow so I JB welded it onto the frame and its perfect again.

Do you still use the sticks? Have you ever experienced the knobs do not come out because they are stuck in the pipes?

I had two different cheap foldable poles which broke after little use. One because the sprung pin didn’t pop out properly and the other because the inner cable became detached, I have bought a pair of these now so fingers crossed. Generally I have found flip lock poles are good, just keep them adjusted properly. Cheap twist lock poles break. BTW I hate sprung poles, a real put off. Thanks for great review.

Is there an issue with joints coming out when your in mud or boggy conditions,as per when you pull it apart to pack?
@djmatt1
@djmatt1 2 года назад
no because the sections are held in with the cable that is stretched tight when unfolded and in use.

These companies should just incorporate the wrist strap to easily wrap the poles together.
