Part 1 of the TKX 5 speed install in my 1968 F100. In this truck I’m running the 3.27 1st gear or the wide ratio option. If you have any questions please let me know and thanks for watching.
Did you get your adapter plate from Speed Gems? Do you happen to have the part number? The only one I see listed is the MT901 but it shows for truck bellhousings. Thanks!
Depends on the cost of the truck. you will need to get a clutch pedal assembly along with the z bar setup and bellhousing. Factory stuff can be found pretty reasonable and works fine.
So great project,I have a 68 as well with factory 4 speed and a 360 would like to do the same. Not sure what bell housing I can use to install a 5 speed.
You would have to measure the bell housing depth you have now and go from there. You could probably run the FE car bell and adapter but that’s a guess. I don’t have much experience with the FE. Good luck with your project.
Ok dumb question the factory trucks clutch linkage will work with the shorter depth?and I have the 164 tooth flywheel so will I have to get a different flywheel and starter
@@jackgrenner2827 Yes you will need the 157t flywheel for the setup. Every part of my clutch setup is stock. Your starter might work I'm not sure about that. I didn't have to change mine. There isn't a link that I know of to the clutch kit. I called McLeod and told them what I was doing and they set me up with that kit in the video. Took about 2 weeks to get it.
@@flipflopsgarage okay so I'm just wondering if your magbase is attached off center on the flywheel how do you turn the flywheel and get the indicator to spin on center to sweep the bellhousing edge......
Since you are measuring offset the mag base doesn’t have to be centered. As long as you keep it in the same spot and measure 4 spots on the opening you will see how much offset you have.
@@flipflopsgarage but you are rotating flywheel to sweep bellhousing opening right?.....sorry if I'm missing something here but I indicate parts that I grind at work within .0005 ( tenths of an inch) with mag base in a fixed position then rotate part I'm to grind in the jaws of the grinder. I'm trying to mentally picture what your doing but it seems total opposite from what I do at work.....what am I missing....I watched your vid again but don't see you actually running through the process just the end results
