This movie has one of my favorite comedy reveals, where Burt and Reba see the worm and then turn around as the camera pans to their enormous gun collection on the other wall. Perfect shot.

Some of the on-camera transitions between miniature, animatronic and live set are gorgeous (basement scene where he drops the gun and camera pans over to the miniature) 👌

If they killed the annoying kid, people would have cheered, which is probably the opposite reaction they wanted. Killing a likeable character like Walter gets the heat they need, similar to Quint in Jaws. The deaths are actually pretty similar. Another fun b-movie creature feature in a similar vein to Tremors, is Lake Placid (1999). It plays far more as a pure comedy, but there are some good performances, particularly the late Betty White turning the air blue to hilarious effect.

Yeah, at 16:43, the "Elephant Gun" is basically a .450 or .480 Nitro. (I need to look the sizes up again.) The only thing readily owned that's more dangerous, is a .50 caliber from an M2 machine gun or a Barrett "Slick 50." Until you get into Cannon rounds, like 20mm, 25mm used on the Bradley IFV, and the 30mm used on the A10 warthog aircraft. But those aren't "Readily owned."

Well, I finally looked it up in a reloading manual, and I here are the two most likely. The Elephant Gun was probably either a .450 Nitro Express 3.25 inch, or a .470 Nitro Express (I was close!)

Edgar, Howard, Jim, Megan, 2 road workers, Old Fred, Carmine, Walter, and Nester. So 10 in total I think that's all that died. To be fair this was one of my favorite films of my childhood this and Big Trouble in Little China.

"This girl's southern accent is really good - she probably grew up in the south" Well, yeah, she's country music star Reba McEntire. My understanding is that the studio forced the producers to take her on, and then they were pleased to find that she actually could act.

Funny you mention that Kevin's love interest isnt playmate of the year. I highly suggest watching the second movie after that.

Watch the landing the stuntman makes when Burt falls out of the bucket of the loader; looks like he breaks both his ankles. I've done some checking, though, and nothing like that is reported as a filming accident.

This movie gets no love for the puppeteering. Ask anyone for examples of movies with great puppet work and nobody will ever mention Tremors. The graboid wrecking the wall was epic... Also this movie gives me heavy Arachnophobia vibes. People die in monster movies BTW, even if they're ethnic.

Just saw that you put this out the same day as Come And See. Pretty sure a lot of us didn't see the Tremors reaction because we assumed our RU-vid notification was for the other movie reaction we already watched. FYI

What happened is I changed the premier to Yi next week but it didn’t take, and RU-vid released it, then I hid it and rescheduled it. When it released it didn’t go out to everyone. Which sux, but it’s RU-vid, what can you do.

This is why Hollywood USED to be great. They worried about things like story and cinematography and music and acting, instead of gross nonsense like skin color.

@@Beuwen_The_Dragon 6 of the 14 citizens died. (Rhonda isn't being counted as a citizen as she just got there and is temporary...and also not dead) where did the 2 phone guys come from? Did Burt find them off screen or something? I don't recall that line of dialog. Never mind, I just caught a glimpse of the scene where it shows the phone company truck and helmets.
