When I was at Escambia Trent bought uniforms for every student athlete in the school. 26 sports over 1,000 student athletes. He did a camp every year for us and answered every phone call. Incredible human. So blessed to know him.
When they spoke about “yes” and “no” for people they’re not lying, Channing Crowder took me shopping as a kid to GAP and although I didn’t turn out pro or a big time ball player…. I NEVER forgot that moment! Made something of myself and take care of my family as a man should!
Similar story I had with Aaron Brooks the quarterback for the Saints. He dated my aunt in high school and came over to my mom’s house to see her and paid for our groceries. Never forgot that moment.
@@isaiditagain1 that's fire. I'm from New Orleans so I def remember him winning our first playoff game in a minute against the Rams. Az Hakim fumbled the punt return. That was a huge upset!!!
@@WhathehadasSolebrown was outcasted from the browns at the time. So who knows if his comment came from a place of being disgruntled. Because when the browns brought him back around? His statements towards Trent were the complete opposite. Jim brown stood in front of Trent and the team and gave Trent praise.
Man this show makes you forget that these guys are athletes because as a regular person we look at athletes and sometimes forget about the human side as well because we know them from sports only…But they get so in depth and us viewers get to see them in a different light that it make us forget about only their sport side 💯🙏🏽
Listening to Trent. I apologize for judging this Man as a RB and seeing from everyone else eyes as a bust in the NFL. But I knew in college this was a great kid and RB. I apologize for judging for your stats sorry bro
Regardless of his outcome, he did something every kid could only dream about. He was brought down by his kidness and love for his family. He won in the end.
He apologized then quickly replied to Trent when he said you probably didn't watch the film. Saying Naw I watched the film. You can see Trent's reaction. What a fake apology.
I mean, everyone considers him a bust because of film showing his lack of vision when running the ball People wanted him to be better but he was slow, made bad reads, played for the Browns and didn't help the Andrew Luck Colts
Thankful for the Pivot Really get to see A lot of Old Athletes Thank you guys for giving them an opportunity to tell there story and making sure that they are not forgotten 💯🐐‼️🔥
Learning to say "No" when you're in a position of power is extremely hard to do if you have a heart. Very good lesson to learn sooner rather than later.
Solid dude man I played with him in high school at Escambia High School in Pensacola and I can honestly say everything this man states was the truth and I truly wish he would’ve had a better situation in the nfl because he definitely could’ve been what Derrick Henry or Emmitt turned out to be. Salute 🫡
Players like Trent rebuilt the Alabama dynasty. What the program had been missing and missed last few years some dogs! Beautiful authentic story. Best luck to you!
I love these interviews because us as fans or fanatics make assumptions sometimes and this gives us a view of the person and separates them from the game
By far one of my favorite episodes from the pivot! Trent Richardson was not a bust, he entered the NFL as a 1% of those who make it to NFL. Average NFL career is like 4 years. Success is determined by ones individual goals of themselves.
So much to appreciate about this episode.... Shouts to TRich, Shouts to the Pivot! You guys are enhancing the experience of what it means to be great. I love Trent's articulation of "We've been this " in referencing fathers !!! Class, Character, and Determination exemplify TRich... Thank you for this Episode
Being born & raised in Indy, I agree with Luck thats it👎🏾. What about 5'9 Joseph Addai (1k yards + a 💍) as a rookie??? I'll also say our GM is an a**hole 😂
I’ve watched and learned and loved this podcast from the start. Like many I was deeply moved by the Michael Beasley show where he felt safe enough to speak to his anguish and fatigue. Since then The Pivot has had so many remarkable shows it’s really hard to choose another most favorite. For me this show is as impactful as the Beasley show was. Over time you’ve had wonderful shows with strong Black men who’ve fought and achieved success based both on their athleticism and their ability to control and manage their money. You’ve also had terrific shows with the new generation of young men who are coming into the league; you’ve talked with them about fame and money and it’s been obvious that they have advisors and a very clear eyed understanding of the business side of football. Fred: you touched my heart deeply in your direct and straightforward observations and flowers for an amazing man who idolizes you. Nothing gooey of course-but delivered in a way that every word will be remembered. RC. Your apology was heartfelt and you did your very best to minimize the ME part of it. And Channing: your gifts and basic kindness showed through with your condom and money questions. People often remark that you have no filter but I’ve never agreed with that. I’ve always believed that you’ve used what might be called a surface lack of filter but you have a deep and kind heart.
Till this day....TR3 has always been one of my favorite RBs and just to hear this story and know the truth of how the business work.....this crazy....make me wanna tell my son to change his position.
My boy on the show…love it!!!! I remember the Oregon running back didn’t even wanna come to the heisman show because he thought Trent would definitely win
There has been a lot of talk recently about masculinity and what does and don’t look like. I think a man taking care of his mental health, responsibilities, children, and work/business should be apart of the conversation… The pressures (internally and externally), challenge, and obstacles men face…. And what tools and support are needed! I appreciate hearing this conversation. I always think we should apologize when wrong or when we hurt someone with our words, actions, and power!
As an Alabama fan I loved watching this man carry the rock. Watching him torch Auburn in the 2011 Iron Bowl for over 200 yards was a joy to watch. Also as someone that was in a full leg cast due to an injury with a woman who takes care of you I can fully understand how Trent made a baby
I’m glad ya did this interview fr. I’m a die hard Bama fan and always wonder what happened with Trent to cause him to get out of the league and what’s been going on with him as of today.
Very good discussion, excellent topic. My Mother always told me that charity starts at home and accountability starts with YOU. Difficult to adhere to at times because family and friends are asking for help and truly need help but remember, it is impossible to help everyone so you must learn to say NO and that includes NO to Mom and Dad IF necessary...... Tough spot to be in Guys, tough spot, so, you got to do it or end up not helping yourself.
If you watch his film he was seeing the holes. If you watch him play at Alabama he was dominating off of athleticism. That can only get you so far. He was a dominant back in the league. He was good though.
It's sick to see folks on here call him a bust when he was drafted to the NFL. A bust is someone who cant get there. Did he live up to his potential. Maybe not, but who really does in life. We can all look back and say what we could have done. He lived his dreams. Something most people can't say!
Playing wise if Henry would’ve played in Trent era he probably even would’ve been greater than he was to me Henry the greatest true rb in college history I say true rb bc I don’t look at Reggie bush as a strictly rb
Reggie was just before his time offensive coordinators didn’t know what to do with Reggie fr if Reggie played in todays game he’d have multiple 1k rushing yards and 1k receiving yards
Trent was unfortunately a bust but I like watching this dude play. He is so physical running the ball. lol I still go back on Madden 13 to play with this guy lol
Amen for Trent saying it's not about race! That message gets lost a lot on these dudes always making everything about race. We're all humans with issues that transcend race barriers. Broken homes, poverty, ect doesn't always have to be a race conversation. Love that Trent stood for that. Seems like a great dude!
Don’ t care bout nothin’! Trent Richardson’ s a beast! Just didn’t have the right circumstances. He will not be last good player to have that experience either. Things work out for some and not for others. Life is life!
I feel him about the father and mother relationship man. I started to learn a lil more and more as I grew up into an adult about different things with my parents. My god mother went on a lil rant when she was tipsy and was kinda spilling the beans and didn’t even realize she was doin it, and I had a light bulb moment like “ah haaaa”. Now my dad was a piece of work, but I do know now my mom was on some BS too.
On over 260 carries avg 3.6 yrd per carry and the league avg was 4.3. THATS HORRIBLE! He simply couldn't read holes. Why are yall lying to and for this man. Its like its a crime to be honest
