Trentemøller: One Eye Open 

I can *feel* a memory being out in the city late on a cold, wet night about three years before I was actually born. This song really hits something.

Oct 27, 2018 Date I will never forget. I went alone to start my study in Leeds. Before my departure from Taipei (Taiwan) I was suffering depression, in Taipei my flatmate from UK was playing radio when he was folding origami , I overheard the song then I asked who is the singer. I looked up ever since that day before my departure I listened to it when I had shower when I was in bed. I sometimes secretly humming my favorites part of the song “They said, holy is the vicar and the vail. Blind fools betray you with lies. And I say, maybe but you seam a little pale. Come on let's go dancing in the night. And I'll show you something holy to me”...Meanwhile I was online dating a Danish guy working in California who happened to be a music artist in the past who is really into music. I sent him the song out of blue he told me it’s actually a Danish musician. And asked me to not to “sleep with one eye open” even though we know it’s a very dark humor coz we both know we both have some serious sleeping problem Lol Then I arrived in Leeds in September 2018 in this modest area near Hyde park, surrounded by Masquer and oriental stores... I spotted “Church “ bar and the performing venue near our campus... couldn’t help myself not to walking in... And guess what... I saw this flyer on table “ Trentmoller , 27 Oct “ I was standing there ... all alone, a foreign student. Yorkshire is starting getting really cold, really grey and gloomy and humid. Then I was humming quietly from Church, to Parkinson building to Hyde park to royal park road. I feel it’s sthing holy happen to me that Trentmoller come to Church to Leeds. After all I wasn’t all alone. I have my belief sthing holy to me, and that’s what keep me going. “They said, holy is the vicar and the vail.Blind fools betray you with lies. I went back in July 2020 with my bf from Leeds. We held hands passing by Church , it was closed, stop operating as a music gig venue. I told my bf the story. Then I played the song while holding his hand all the way from church, Parkinson building , Hyde park, and royal park road... My eyes gets wet every time when I listen to the song.

Just heard this amazing track. Goosebumps. I cannot express how this makes me feel.

Simply genius. Reaches deep into my soul and squashes it a bit before releasing the pressure. Melancholic, yet uplifting at the same time, I wanna die and live while listening to this tune.

My favorite artist, an true legend.

The ONE time Trentemoller came to Denver, I couldn't go to the concert because of being hospitalized with meningitis. This was back in 2017, and I am still torn up over it! I love his tracks so much, especially this one. I get chills EVERY time I listen.

I first heard of Trentemøller at Coachella 2011, at the Mojave Tent. It was so epic and life-altering, and fell in love with his music since then. Yes, as the years went by, his music changed quite a bit. After trying to digest his album "Lost", I was distraught and bothered at first, but I gave his music a second chance and ended up enjoying every single track in it. I even found myself enjoying his much earlier works with Trigbag. I'm finally gonna see him live in LA this 14th of March after 6 years of not seeing him live. Trentemøller, as someone else has said, is an Artist with a capital "A".

Its very concrete on me, I would rather listen to few of those tracks without vocal and let imagination work..I miss that individualistic soul in it. I dont wanna compare it to anything. Since when did Trentemøller fell into a pit of hipsterish pop..? This whole album has very little invention, no originality, the music videos.. well... nice boobs. Sounds like cheap commercials music to me, to be honest. Big respect for your work, but this was a step in the wrong direction IMO. Hope it's not permanent. Many luck!
