Hi Jan, great video. Thank you for the effort! One thing: consider using seat belts, an then reduce motion by 50%. I found this to be even more immersive.
Hi Stefan, thanks for the tip, it is already considered as a next little upgrade. I guess you fix them outside the rig with kind of elastic bands? Also, a belt tensionner would be the optimum, but thats for the far future ;-)
@@janwesche8981 Hi Jan, you dont need a belt tensioner or rubber bands. The idea is to "glue" yourself to the seat by using seat belts. That way you get more from the moving rig into your body. This "trick" is used by real airline simulators. You end up with more immersion on way less travel of the SR1. I use the SR2 and run it on 20% of the max. elongation.
My order arrives soon. I am just thinking isn’t it smarter to mount the actuators before the seat and the wheel plate etc.? First mount basic frame then directly put it on actuators?
Enjoy! love ya sim rig and setup, no expenses spared and it comes with a cup holder! :) I also bought a proper sim rig with a Fantec DD & GT3 wheel recently, took 4 secs off my PB on interlagos using F1 Ultimate Gen 2 now I'm stuck on 1:10. I drove for 3 hours straight on my first night on the rig and thought i only been there for 30mins ! I cant believe i gave up on Sim racing 2 years ago when I had my first wheel, Logitech G923 .... that feels like a kids toy. Now i'm on the hunt for super high definition VR , HDMI 2.1 output straight to the GPU with proper super sharp and crisp display and high refresh rate couple with a USB C connector for data and charging. What is the Varjo Aero like?
Are you using the Motion Compensation for Varjo? If yes which one? THanks and nice rig. I am also looking at SR1 and price quality is really attractive.
The Simrig Control Center software comes with motion cancellation options. At the moment I use "Rig geometry" mode what works pretty nice. Also possible with a Vive controller as hardware tracker (only via steam vr) which I still have to test.
It's fairly quiet. Of course you can hear it in the same room, but not through a closed door. Bonus effect: it dampens the noise from bass shakers. With headphones, even if not directly on-ear, it's not perceptible (the microphone in this video captured the monitor speaker and the SR1 from nearly the same distance, you can hear Jim but not the motion ;-)
