@@cleanerben9636you will still smell the blood and flesh once you start to brake because it’s on the brake disks and they will get hot once the driver brakes
I've driven THAT train to Newark and Lincoln. This is not an isolated incident. Mums walking out and spreading their arms to shepherd the kids across, like the train will stop for them. 88 tonnes does not stop quickly
That last one, even after she has JUST had a fright and hopefully a bit of a "lightbulb" moment, she still doesn't properly check the other way for a second train before walking out onto the tracks. Incredible.
It's a bit hidden by the compression but she fully tilted her head both ways after that happened. While walking not before. Gotta say where I live we don't have level crossings for pedestrians and these seem extremely dangerous. It looks hard to look over the fence before opening the gate for anyone that isn't tall and right behind the gate you're already in danger at the speed these trains are driving. Even for a protected car crossing they'd go much slower here and for an unprotected one which this one would qualify for they'd crawl.
How pathetic and stupid people are. They think they are invincible. Nobody seems to give a thought about the poor Driver if he was to kill anybody, or the effect it would have on the family of anybody killed 😢😢. So many people in society today are so selfish, thinking only of themselves.
00:28: What idiot comes up with such a crazy idea and places a chair in the middle of two tracks just to take a photo for some stupid internet challenge? This can only be explained by Fritz Perls. There are two things in the world that are unlimited: space and human stupidity. I'm just not sure about space yet.
This is unbelievable, I don't know whether people just haven't been brought up to check for trains when crossing or if they just don't care but these clips are truly scary, some of them were no less than 5s away from a fatality...
I was once on a crossing, and half way across I heard a train, I couldn't hear it when I started crossing but when I saw t, it scared the living sh*t out of me
its a light rail line the one closer to sheffield & cheseterfield is an electric one not sure where this is but i never do the idiotic shit that these do
It would be useful. But nevertheless it need brain of the people using ist. Often crossings with warning systems will be crossed during active stop and warning signals. I don't know why people ignore the danger.
People need to realise just how dangerous trains really are. They weigh hundreds of tonnes, can reach extremely high speeds, they take an absurd amount of distance to stop and they can't steer to avoid you. It's shocking that people fail to realise this and if I'm perfectly honest for anyone like this to be hit would be nothing short of natural selection.
As an ex driver I'm guessing that they put the onus on them by installing the gates. There will be boards nearby telling people to STOP and LOOK before crossing. As long as the vegetation is kept trimmed back you really can't help some people especially those older ones who should know better. We grew up in a age of common sense when you had to look out fir yourself.
You're missing the point. It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the member of public to FOLLOW THE SIMPLE RULES posted at each crossing. It's not rocket science - the railway track is for TRAINS!!!
@@Roy-gi5ul Unfortunately it is also the legal responsibility of the railways to protect idiots from themselves. That is why every railway line is bound by fencing. This has been so since railways became public.
only down the road, a couple of miles from me....the same happens at ATTENBOROUGH crossing....stupid people actually wait until the train is coming....then cross..... I feel sorry for the train drivers only....
Used to be a Machester police officer covering the Metrolink and had to clear up the end result of a collision between a person and a fast moving tram. We filled six rubble sacks with remains and the birds got the bits we couldn't get at up in the adjacent undergrowth. I don't believe the team driver ever drove again.
Huge thanks to "Anna and Nic" for providing this footage for NR to analyse, and in turn NR for publishing it. Unfortunately I don't think it'll make much difference - this incredibly stupid behaviour will keep happening, even once they eventually replace the crossing with a footbridge (which, one day, is just short of inevitable).
As a retired Sydney Trains driver all I can say is... I saw/heard no safety warning lights/bell. Whoever operates this railway are playing into the hands of a coronial lawsuits for not having mandatory safety features fitted. Must be more easy going in GB than Oz.
@@MarkHewitt1978 ...I thought it was now law that all pedestrian foot crossings over a railway, had to have warning lights?....even if they're in a very rural area. This is something which would never have been EU law - but up to individual countries to do. How have we still not done this?? ....it's incredible! I hope Labour will make this law, now they're in power. This should have been made UK law at least 20 years ago.
@@robtyman4281The issue with flashing lights is it makes people complacent. It makes them less likely to check, which most of the time would be ok, but what if they fail or get damaged? Someone will look and go “Oh, not flashing, must be safe to cross” when in actuality the lights have failed and a train is bearing down on them. There are foot crossings with lights, and the issue I mentioned is not unheard of. The only real solution is to have crossing keepers for most crossings, which wouldn’t be cheap. Maybe some “CCTV in operation” notices would help, nothing quite works at preventing crime like this as a good ‘ol threat.
Not sure it would make the slightest bit of difference. You SAW these idiots...a Photo Shoot for Christ's sake! You think lights and whistles would stop these morons? There are thousands of these crossing across the network...it could cost Billions, literally, to install lights, gates and whistles, tens of thousands per crossing....if only people had Eyes...oh, and Ears....and a modicum of common sense....

As much as I worry about the after effect the driver would’ve had to endure, that lady would made an innocent dog die due to her stupidity, which just ticks me off.
These crossings are public rights of way on foot, probably from long before the railway was built. They are very useful to walkers, and it is far safer than walking along a country road which you would probably have to do as a diversion if the foot crossing were closed. Not everyone goes everywhere by car.
I don't have a car but I would be careful if I had to use these crossings not like the idiots you see lying on the tracks or people getting their photos taken.
@@forbeswatson _"I would be careful if I had to use these crossings"_ Of course, all you need to do is look both ways and if you see or hear a train coming you wait for it to pass (and check for a second one - that gets some people). It is then safer than crossing a road because you don't need to make fine judgements, and the driver can't suddenly speed up and steer at you (I've had that crossing roads). Trouble with railway crossings is that many people know no more about trains than they read in the _Thomas the Tank Engine_ books. They seem to think that a railway line is some industrial relic that isn't in much use, and even if it is they think trains do anout 20mph, with the driver stopping it like a car if they see you, while giving a cheery wave out of the window. If they have ever been on a train it is likely to have been a preserved heritage line, and the impression they give does not help. FWIW I have both driven trains and worked on the track of 3rd rail electrified running main lines. Things are only dangerous if you don't approach them properly and with common sense.
Why in this day and age kids are given access to the railway with only a sign for guidance is beyond me, they will mess about, it's in their nature, railway workers have strict training yet members of the public can just walk freely across, you don't see zebra crossings on motorways as it's considered too dangerous yet the road speed is far less so why o why do foot crossings still exist
Agreed. They are gradually replacing them, especially the rural locations, in Northern England it’s already began. Problem being, of course, that it costs a lot of money and takes time, plus they will all have to be done through the night for track possession.
Why are the parents of these "kids" not teaching them about safety, or are they too thick or too busy on Facebook or whatever to bring their children up? This is the problem with society today - it is always someone else's fault for an individual's stupidity and the litigation lawyers perpetuate the problem.
These crossings are still open because they are public rights of way, probably from long before the railway was built. They are very useful to walkers, and it is far safer than walking along a country road which you would probably have to do as a diversion if the foot crossing were closed. Not everyone goes everywhere by car.
"you don't see zebra crossings on motorways as it's considered too dangerous" It is perfectly legal for kids to cross a dual carriageway with vehicles travelling at 70mph. What is the difference?
I cannot believe that in the UK there are level crossings where people can walk through without any form of safety in place to prevent them crossing if a train is approaching. Network rail needs to deal with this urgently and close, repeat, CLOSE ALL SUCH LEVEL CROSSINGS.
I don’t care about anyone else in this video their taking stupid risks beside the dog in the first clip because the Dog dosent have a choice to go over it or not and it would be so sad for it to lose its life and also the owner because the dog would be so sad if it’s owner got hit but I’m very glad both of them were safe ❤
Although we saw some pretty stupid behaviour are network rail not partially responsible by giving relatively easy access to a high speed rail track. Surely a bridge would be a far safer option , this is like putting a zebra crossing on a motorway.
The UK has stong laws about public rights of way. Maybe Italy doesn't. These crossings are public rights of way on foot, probably from long before the railway was built. They are very useful to walkers, and it is far safer than walking along a country road which you would probably have to do as a diversion if the foot crossing were closed. Not everyone goes everywhere by car.
@@lexlayabout5757 Ok. in UK and USA there is a common law system and you can't cancel an acquired right of transit (probably it's referred at the time of enclosures in XVI century), in Italy and most part of Europe there a civil law system. Anyway in Italy you are not allowed to enter railway lines unless signalled otherwise, you may incur in a penal trial. And there is a long trail started many years ago to eliminate pedestrian and road crossings without safety. All road level crossings must have bars, lights and acoustic signals. The pedestrian ones had been susbstituted with under or overpasses. So we have much severe laws regarding railway safety.
Gone are the days where the signalman could remotely lock the gates. Go back to locking gates like B.R did at road crossings. Does anyone remember the locking devices that would hold the gates, esp' the pedestrian ones at level crossings?
It beggars belief that some people can be so stupid and irresponsible on the railways. They wouldn’t do that on a motorway, so why on earth would they think it was safe in an environment where the vehicle in question is travelling at higher speeds, can’t swerve and takes at least a kilometre to stop. You just end up feeling sympathy for the train drivers and the emergency services who have to deal with the aftermath of a moments thoughtlessness.
Because it can lock someone onto the track. Having a release to prevent scenario would then be used for those wanting to cross anyway. Avoid the whole issue by just not locking it.
Huge cost to build and maintain also you will get the idiots who drop stuff from the bridges to hit oncoming trains, you just can't manage the innate stupidity of human beings.

A footbridge is very expensive to install these days, if not physically impossible in many places, thanks to the disability lobby who demand that everything new is wheelchair accessible. A new footbridge has to have massive (and ugly) zig-zagging slopes up to it.
Still remember a BTP officer coming to my primary school, mid 90s maybe so I was about 10. We got shown a video of about messing about on tracks. I'll always remember at the end of vid someone picking up a shoe (just after we just saw kids playing on rails) inferring a foot in it etc To this day I wonder..the idiots in this video and generally...some for want of a trending video or whatever.
Surprised that couple with the child didn't set up a picnic.....huge fines for that carry on. Train driver could spend the rest of his life in courtrooms and prison.......
The train driver would not be blamed. I worked for a UK railway and knew several drivers who had suicides or other deaths under them. They are badly shaken up, and that is bad enough.
I do sometimes laugh at the over-reaction in train crossing comments. Some of these hysterical posters should venture to the centre of cities where the closeness of potential danger is much greater and much more frequent for pedestrians.
The title is "Trespass and near misses". The ones at 0:25 are trespassing for example. Trespassing is going off the board walk and also loitering on it.
@@Captainslinkys good point except when you see/hear a train coming at speed I think the natural reaction of most people would be to panic and fumble the latch. But I guess the only way to find out is to put some of those dopes to the test!
Obviously some of the actions are stupid and worst part is they'll just die and the conducter is traumatized but the real villain here is the infrastructure provider not building underpasses out of greed and recklessness. Incidents just happen at crossing, you will never be able to avoid them with any kind of infrastructure or with lecturing people about the dangers
This is right by the River Trent, which floods from time to time. An underpass would not be very useful. A footbridge might work, but not be accessible for pushchairs, wheelchairs and bikes unless it had long shallow ramps - in which case most people would be too lazy to use them.
Active, live train line, so people behave like there's no imminent danger, .... what idiots, .... so who's gonna grieve em when they become strawberry jam to clear up? Yes it's a footpath, at a point of impending danger, so don't loiter. Is it any wonder when preventable accidents take place.
The fronts of trains should be made of stronger material to prevent ANY level of damage to it and when they succeed at ridding us of bad genes, the trains should simply continue on their ways. There’s really no need for any todo about it. They’re splatter putty anyway.
Near miss? You have to be joking - plenty of time in all these alleged "near misses". As to the photography, while it's not something I'd want to do for any particular reason, if there is no train anywhere near, then there is no risk - QED. There are far too may people sitting at home wanting to pass judgement these days. As long as you are aware and check both ways, there is no more risk of harm on a railway line as there is in a field, provided no train is coming.
