Trevor Bauer mutes everyone on his page who criticizes him. That’s the only reason it’s such a one sided discussion. Much more people see him for what he is. A rat and a cheater. 2 really really bad things. But it’s ok because he’s Trevor Bauer? Makes sense. Lmfao
I pitched 2 years of division I baseball and the thought of using sticky substances never crossed my mind back then... 15 years later I regret not trying it. Ended up injuring my elbow and instead of surgery and rehab I went to grad school
I played baseball for 15 years since T ball all the way through college and the thought of sticky never crossed my mind either....Maybe I would have had better breaking balls and gone farther in life...Damn
I pitched for over 20yrs and I csn 2st tell you I never had a pitching coach and any of what they ahd today and my arm is screwed. But stay blessed beotha and good decision
@I'm a Champion yah, to prove a point lmao. He didn’t wanna cheat but he had to in order to show the MLB they need to start cracking down on foreign substances. He literally said he could use substance to increase his spin rate by hundreds of rpm and did to show how easy it is to use in order to get an unfair advantage cheating. He’s great with and without substances as well. All he’s doing is just pointing out that MLB handled it very poorly.
I will tell you one thing, if my father was alive he would of loved this channel... He was a big baseball fan, and liked you alot.. He followed you when you were in Cleveland... And seeing you with your dad, reminds me off him, because what you are doing right now was my father's dream...he wanted me to be a baseball player....
@Mike Rotunda similar story with me & my dad. Unfortunately, he passed away three weeks ago so I’m still feelin it. But just had to 👍 your comment. He wanted me to play baseball too, and I ended up becoming a musician. That made for some interesting dinner talk over the years.
I'm sorry to hear that Russel... It's tough...I lost my dad 3 years ago, and baseball is hard to watch, because with me , everything I know about it , came from him.. He loved baseball... But you have to just think of the good memories, it makes it easier... .but one thing I can't do yet is watch field of dreams!! Lol! I won't even go near that movie since he is gone...lol!!
Mike Rotonda thanks for the condolences, I appreciate it. I hear what you’re saying about shying away from things you shared with your dad. For me and mine, it was James Bond films. He loved the books & films, then my parents took me to see Live and Let Die in 1973 when I was 6 and I loved it! Starting in high school in the early 80’s, we saw every movie together in the theater up to the recent Daniel Craig films. I think it’ll be awhile before I can watch those again, just like you with Field of Dreams! Thx for your reply.
He literally puts an imaginary sword back into its holster after jamming somebody up and in…ahaha not the most serious guy on the field to say the least, but he knows how to get down and dirtyyy
Trevor hopefully after your baseball pitching career is over you can be commissioner one day would be cool seeing an actual player who knows what he’s talking about and dedicated his life too it.
I grateful to you Trevor for doing these videos. You obviously do not need more fame, money, ego boost, etc! The REAL inside scoop about MLB us much appreciated! Thanks👌🇺🇸
Point you made in another video about decreased tack meaning pitchers have to grip the ball harder, and throwing your arm with tendons taut that weren’t all spring training will lead to injuries is very interesting. Wish they weren’t railroading you for making them all look bad.
I'm watching a vlogger, who just so happens to be a 31 (at the time) yr old Cy Young level pitcher. The guy is so casual about playing at the highest level of the the sport. Man, youtube algo can be good sometimes.
bruh i played SS and kept a little bit of pine tar on to bottom part of my glove (where the ball never hit) and if the ball ever felt slippery, i would get the ball from the first baseman and rub it up while i was pretending to talk to the pitcher about something.
From Arizona... Texas/ Louisiana/ Mississippi.... Freaking nasty when over 90° I'll take that dry all day. (But getting into a vehicle is 5X worse in Arizona, you'll die... Or get 3rd degree burns.... That's why no one wears seatbelts in Summer)
Mr. Bauer you are exactly what baseball needs for all ages. From kids learning your work ethic. Teens learning the right headspace. Young adults and even elders learning how the game is changing and how the league is handling situations. You provide what everyone needs. Thank you
Is it surprising that MLB handled it this way? No, they have a history of turning a blind eye to problems if those problems are helping their bottom line coughsteroidscough, excuse me
Trevor I love your videos, I’m a lefty pitcher and I watch all of them to get to know new things or just watch you succeed, thank you and keep doing what you are doing
Chase the dream, never quit. Regret is a rough thing! I was a lefty pitcher and chose life over the dream. Still regret not chasing my dreams! Now I'm old...
Why do I get the impression the more than I watch him expound his knowledge upon us, that he was set up to keep him out of baseballs' management or a union rep job.
& boom.. 2 year suspension for nothing... Just trying to keep this guy outa baseball.. He may be an asshole but it seems he just wants an even playing field
Right now many will say it’s illegal because of how you can hear the stick but it’s legal due to the reason of not using BEYOND or “illegal” substances
one of these times you should let a reliever vlog for a week so we can see how it is for mlb pitchers without a certain schedule that they need to follow
My problem with it is why pay the pitcher if your suspending him? It makes no sense to pay a player that’s being suspended for breaking the foreign substance rule.
I thought your response on broadcast was extremely well thought out, standardize the tackiness of the balls and then set standards for testing pitchers hands between innings. Just like a tsa swab and bag the sample to inspected off site.
i'm not a baseball guy by any means, just ran across this, but I feel like the answer's pretty simple: if you try to palm the ball and it's sticky enough that it doesn't drop, that's too sticky. The sweat and rosin stickiness that was shown was NOWHERE near the level of stickiness from the ball palming demonstration. It doesn't seem like it needs to be any more complicated than that.
Hey, Trevor I know you will probably never see this but this message is about thanks. I just want to say thank you for one becoming a Dodger. I have been following LAD since I was born and I have always loved the team and of course the sport. I have always seen your games whether it was on the Reds, the Indians, or the Diamondbacks. I've seen ur strikeouts and all of your comments on changing the game of baseball on foreign substances and I truly appreciate you being a player and sharing your word. And lastly thank you for having these videos I love seeing your day-to-day baseball routine it is really great to see behind the scenes of a pro athlete but especially a pitch which is one of my main positions. Again I thank you and truly appreciate these videos/tips/and getting me through parts of Covid with this amazing sport and your commentary!
Can you do a walkthrough of every driveline drill and any other drills you do on a daily that are very important. Trying to find routine of good drills to do everyday
He may be a pro ball player but him putting out vids of him chillin in the hot tub with his dad is so relatable and good to see he’s a normal guy like the rest of us
Thank you, Trevor; since i started watching your vlogs i've changed my whole perception of baseball, you are such a legitimate good guy and a true pro baseball player. My dream of rooting the Dodgers will be accomplished on Sunday agains the Cubs; I'll be there screaming at the top of my lungs, hoping I see you to thank you in person.
I mean, it seems pretty straight forward. If a pitcher uses anything other then rosin/sweat, it’s illegal. Will there be guys that try to cheat by using tack, and claim that it’s rosin? Of course. When there’s that much money at stake some guys are gonna try to cheat. Was there a better way for MLB to handle it? Yea they could’ve banned it when they first realized what was going on years ago. Is it surprising that MLB handled it this way? No coughsteroidscough, excuse me
How convenient for MLB this story of someone’s admittiningly extreme sexual preferances comes out and not only silence him in the media but get him off the field as well. In the process MLB avoids an epic shitstorm by not having to suspend him for the very thing he was totally ignored about. (For years, by them.). Bottom line is someone torpedoed the guys career with a story about his sexual preferences. The incident, while extreme, was totally consented to and probably even encouraged by the “victim”. He was not arrested and the restraining order was tossed out along with all the charges, almost immediately. That should have been the end of the story but it’s not and this guys multi million dollar career is probably over instead. So who exactly is the bad guy again??? I’m always suspicious when things work out SO PERFECTLY for anyone. MLB has GOT TO HAVE A HAND IN THIS SOMEHOW.
First time subscriber. I never really knew who Trevor Bauer was, always heard the name I knew he was a good pitcher for the Dodgers. I am definitely a fan after seeing this first video. All the way in KC Mo. Thanks Trevor
These VLOGS go above and beyond what I would have expected from a busy MLB star. Earned an instant sub from me, very much appreciate the effort that goes into these. Awesome VLOG
For the sticky question it’s legal. Assuming it’s sweat and rosin atleast. There’s a big difference between using sweat and rosin or sunscreen (that’s a little more of a grey area) and using pine tar or spider tack. One gets grip the other get grip and a lot more spin
I don't think people realize how dangerous it is for pitchers to throw without grip substance. New balls are slick as hell, and I don't want someone coming downhill at 95, losing grip/feel, and breaking some batters face
Since it is two things that are completely legal. It is absolutely legal. There is nothing they can do about it, unless they can find a functional replacement for rosin
Got you a work around brother. Soak your hand in water for 5-10 minutes until it prunes, dry off, and then throw a baseball. Learned recently that the reverse osmosis involved in pruning is a evolutionary advantage so that we can get better grip in wet conditions. Basically flat tires vs tires with tread. I think this would help you out. Know you're always willing to try something new
I honestly think a single standardized “sticky” substance would be the way to go so people would stop searching for this crazy substance that makes the ball super tacky.
All that needs to happen is league provides approved rosin and sunscreen. Check for substances at inning start like a boxer would be checked before a match. That way no one is singled out in the spectacles that are happening now. If rosin and sweat is that sticky then that should be enough for pitchers to get a grip on the ball.
