@@michael4354 there are historically accurate and inaccurate scenes, that's meant to be. don't watch shows hoping to get 100% accurate historical facts lol. it's not a documentary.
In any motion picture I saw (movie or series), Ragnar's death is easily in the top 5 saddest deaths. Game of Thrones had no deaths except for Robb Stark's that have made me feel bad. While The Clone Wars had 3 deaths, that I felt shockingly sad for... Surprisingly in movies the only actually sad deaths would be the ending of Rogue One and the Jedi purge... Vikings is very careful with its characters and their deaths. It makes you love and respect a character, then they make you see its rise and downfall and finally kill it. Game of Thrones messes it up by making the deaths way too random at times, which is a shame.
@@505Legion I think Walking Dead deals with deaths the best. They lay emphasis on the character for the episodes preceeding their death making them grow on you and then finishing them off

cmon guys just cuz the music is good doesn't mean he's the best character.....ragnar did many mistakes he wasn't perfect no reason for you to rule him as your best character just cuz of this masterpiece of a music

My brother died in 2016 and the only thing to keep my mind off it was this show and a week later rangnar died on the show and this soundtrack is my go to when I need to let emotion out
So many powerful scenes in this show. Ragnar mourning his daughter at the beach, his wife and son leaving him, one of his best friends, Athelstan, dying and Ragnar coming face with the fact that they’ll never see each other, not even in the after life, And many more that I can’t think of. But the scene of him looking at his family that once was across the river was so powerful. Probably the most beautiful, sad, and real presentation of reflecting on one’s life and the choices they make
I come here every day and listen to this It reminds me with old memories hard memories . It reminds me with some assholes who cheated on me. But it's okay . It gladdens me to know that the Great people are always betrayed

I've watched Vikings a few times through. This scene always gets me and I couldn't put my finger on why. Today this song hit me like a ton of bricks and I finally realized why. Ragnar in the boat, looking to the shore at 'what could have been'. A life with Lagertha, his family and his good friend Athelstan, but instead he's on a different path. Longing for what could have been. This song playing in the background. If you looked at my life story and the emotion and sentiment behind that scene, there's a lot of overlap. This song encapsulates that emotion. Bitter sweet, but we keep moving forward.
I know I am late but I just watched Ragnar die. I SIMPLY CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY. Why did he leave his sons, wife, Lagertha, Floki, his people? I cannot wrap my head around this. I can't even watch the next episode. I LOVED the Ragnar from season 1. Peaceful life, loving family, dreams and ambition. But once he became king, I feel like everything started to go sideways. The animosity with Floki got Athelstan killed. And I think that's what broke him the most, more than Rollo's (second) betrayal. The acting game by Travis Fimmel is truly spectacular. You can see the pain on his features. So real. Such an amazing show.
Presumably, he wanted to take revange on Brits but he knew, that no one respected him anymore, since his break down after the lost battle in Paris, and no one will follow him in the raid on Britain. However he knew, that his sons will avenge him after his death, so he made up a plan to let himself killed by two kings, what would send the heathen army on them.
I think his final talk with the seer reflects on that. As the last act of his life, he wanted to guide his own fate to death instead of living on its mercy as everyone does by just claiming every outcome to be the will of "the gods". Aside from that, coexistence with other cultures was one of Ragnar's dreams which Ecbert shattered with the massacre of the farmers. That was one of his biggest regrets he had to avenge before dying.
I need an Emmy for Travis! How the hell can you ignore such a brilliant performance? What kind of people are those who cannot see his natural and super performance! I'm angry! Really.

He was totally alone...a man who discovered that they are things and people beyond his people and land...the whole universe was against his wills...he refused to die as simple viking man in his own land...he travelled, he fought, he became erl, king and then a fearfull name...he was seeking for death...it was his choice... Hail King Ragnar...
this is epic!! i think Travis Fimmel is maybe the best series actor i've ever seen. He lived that Charakter - it was method acting. Everybody who is here to hear this Sound feels his Charakter like he would lived that life for himself. what a great series, what a great character. My tears rolling over my cheek as that song came as Ragnar hallicunated on his boat seeing Lagertha, Gyda, little Björn and Athelstan - the persons he loved most knowing that he would them never see again. In that moment i remembered immediatly his words to Lagertha: If we had never left the farm... this moment is to much for everyone who got a heart... Hail Ragnar and his Family :'( Kind regards from Germany!!
Same here.. I watch that part many times. Also the part where ragnar and king of wessex sit down at his thrown room talking of death of arthlestan. A beautiful and realistic-like drama. Sorry for any miss-spells in names.

I get major goosebumps from this, the scene of Ragnar’s flashback of the farm when he’s sailing down the river in France. And Lagertha’s flashback of them on the farm...my heart, man!

t is quite incredible how we are able to make such beautiful music, which gives peace to the soul no matter how violent the soul listening, and yet instead of taking that peace they continue down a self-destructive path that has no plan other than greed or to gain something they will never need. A country invades another and yet how long do they hold that land and often as not it brings their own downfall as a sort of balance. This can be seen in history by Hitler and the Soviet Union, and now the USA is on a downward spiral of self destruction and all the beauty they have gained will be the only survivor. Those that can't see we have moved on from violence so we can find a greater peace and understanding of our place and ourselves in the Cosmos. Unless we embrace the beautiful side of our natures and start to dream again for our children we are a doomed race and not worth of existence, but our legacy in this beautiful music is a testament to what our souls are really able to achieve and just think what we could achieve if we apply our talents and creative minds without gain or paranoia we would be amongst the stars and taking our place as one of the sentient races to make it a better place by adding our individuality and beauty and exploring it broadening our minds in peace.
In life we often chase the worldly desires of money, power and fame, hence ignore the most beautiful things in life like family, love, relationship, togetherness, simple living but full of happiness and yet realise in the end when we lose everything 💔

3x6 Ragnar was never the same, he was grieving from this episode until the end! A real interpretation of Grief! They knew what they were doing with the character, reminded me of Rumi’s grief after Shams death
What I love about this theme I have difficulty explaining, but bear with me... Ragnar and Lagertha started off as simple yet relatively prosperous as can be. As farmers. Toiling the land, animals to look after, food by their own hand, loving one another and no other. Not many people, just those they love. Ragnar pursued bigger goals, achieved far greater than he ever imagined - fame to his name for generations to come. Yet through all the toil, sorrow, victories and defeats and betrayals and separation of loved ones.... All he ever really wanted was once already his: Lagertha, their children, and their farm. But one does not realize what one has until it's truly gone. A simple life is never quite as bad as people think. And that's my best attempt at explaining what this theme brings up in me.
I think we all have to thank Travis Fimmel for this phenomenal performance. Thank you for bringing my favorite character to life Ragnar: from a farmer to a legend which united a whole nation
