Isaac talks through some basics of emergency communications networking. Spoiler alert: Software matters more than hardware. Check out the T.Rex Arms podcast and sign up for our newsletter here: trex-arms.com/subscribe/
The level of expertise on every subject this channel discusses is amazing... even more amazing is the ABSOLUTE willingness TO ADMIT "I'm not sure, I'll need to do more study on that" thanks for what yall do
I built a radio communications network for my family because we live in central Florida and we have yearly hurricane seasons and this allows us to communicate in the event that the cell phone network is either damaged or overloaded.
When you consider the context of where we are in this Country right now: you might admit this video upload is very well timed and very very brave for TRex to put up. Thanks you guys.
I live in middle TN and I concur with your observation about last Christmas. People were reading local publications and talking with each other at local spots to get information. I think we all felt more connected and productive than we had in a very long time.
Last night, I was just taking out my old comms to see what I need to update for an upcoming hunting trip. Great timing and amazing Paul Revere information with added Recontextualization! 🇺🇲
The best part was the quote from the militiaman. I think we loose sight of the fact that most people’s motivations weren’t very complex. Self governance and freedom.
I love how you started talking at length about Paul Revere and his various exploits and roles in addition to the basics of putting together a communications network. I'm going to look into this boo and maybe buy a copy. The irony of all this is that I'm a Brit (naturalized U.S. in 2007) living in Texas and I've been a prepper for years.
@@cowetareserve I don’t speak for everyone, but we are happy to have you both here in the USA. We need more people like the two of you. The ones that want nothing more then to be free, live free and be left alone lol.
Asking "Which radio to buy?" kind of equals to Paul Revere thinking "Which horse to select for this ride?" So tool (right kind of a horse) according to the job (communications ride), job according to the need (organizing defense), need according to the mission (win a war), mission according to the vision (get freedom).
The Paul Revere story of testifying for the innocent British soldiers is so inspiring. We need more people that care about honor and integrity. Yes, the British shouldn't be here, no, we will not convict innocent men just because we don't support their agenda. I am amazed at how difficult this is nowadays. People on every side, on every depth of far or near, sacrifice integrity and consistency if it helps their cause (however temporary) or hurts the other side.
Just turned 21 and bought myself a Glock 43x, ordered my first concealed carry holster from T-Rex Arms and made and account on the site, and I’m ready to start stocking ammo and get to training.
Be aware of all the advice that the boomers are gonna offer ya. Patiently listen but understand that if you wanna shoot like T-Rex’s Lucas then be prepared to disregard a lot of the “FUD” wisdom they older guys offer you.
Saw this video yesterday, thought i might have to look at it later... This night there was a huge Storm in my area here in germany. In my city i didn`t see a lot from it, but the surrounding areas are a complete wasteland.. 33 people died in the fllood so far, some villages are compmetely gone, in my parents town there is no electricity.... bridges and streets are gone... I am definately inspired to get som prepping done
Thank you trex arms for the great customer service! I recently bought a new light setup from your website and just wanted to say how helpful is was for me to make a purchase because of the detail descriptions you guys put for the products and it was shipped immediately! Definitely gained a new customer!
Great content as always, keep it up. The main point of the video is stay informed, keep learning, and build local relationships with like minded citizens.
Ham Radio Crash Course just put out a video showing how signals can be triangulated regarding Cuba. That can give you an idea how easy it is track signals today.

I highly recommend getting and playing with an Airspy R2. Also, imho, the RTLSDRv3 is better than the NESDR. I had one and I had a LOT of problems with it.
@@TREXARMS Anyone claiming "v5" is a liar and trying to fool you. AFAIK, the basic RTLSDR has never changed chipset. They have had issues with the manufacturer of the R820T chip stopping and restarting production. Personally, I'd like to see the Airspy R2 be updated with a newer processor and possibly bumped up to USB3 but I know USB3 is very RF noisy so that could be a problem.
It is essential to establish a centralized command center to gather information, validate it, show a time line for events, act as rumor control and fact board. Establish a comms time for broadcasting so listeners will know when to listen to the broadcast thereby saving power.
I was pulling a 20’ trailer full of 4wheelers on the interstate to fort hood in nashville when that flood hit...at night! Worst rain i’ve ever seen and i’ve been everywhere. It took hours to get through the city.
I am 13 year old and I am really inspired by al of your videos I have litterly watched al of jour videos and my shooting has become really good. Thanks to your videos and hard work.I don't have a real firearm so I use airsoft guns sins I was 5 thank for al your videos and hard work
Love the content as always! What do you think would be the cheapest way to have comms with someone about 150 miles away, in the event of overloaded or down cell networks in a natural disaster or crazy gov shutdown, etc? My ideas so far are satellite phone or ham radio
Would a disaster scenario with power loss would most towers / repeaters not work unless those towers have a backup generator? Then your communication would be limited right?
I live in a fairly major suburb of DFW, just a couple hundred yards away from an interstate freeway. During the big winter storm this February, I lost cell service the instant power went out. I always thought all cell towers had backup power provisions of some sort. Apparently I was mistaken
Hi Lucas, not sure if you will respond to this question..? You have so much knowledge on radios and communications why not get licensed, tried to look you up on QRZ, you have touched a very thankless subject with us Hams. Anyway thank you for helping people from a retired Army guy with an extra class license.K4MIQ
Man your brother needs to clear up the story on training SF. I myself being a now retired veteran operator , this doesn’t sit well in the SF community. Lucas needs to do a vid clearing this up ASAP !! God bless
are there other people communicating in my area (semi rural setting). pinpoint the channel they are using. talking to that channel or just listening. and getting signals out with lowest chance of someone doing the same thing as above to my comms (send in bursts instead of continuous signal do higher power burst in 5sec intervals? idk does encryption just jumble the signal to another listener or does it make it untraceable to other radios in area?
I really appreciate these videos, but the radio/comms stuff still feels overwhelming and I still have no idea of what to do and/or where to begin. I've seen your other stream on radio/comms. We need more.
hmmmmmmmmm i need to find a group.... i'm in the middle of the woods, more or less. I have a CB and walkie talkies but need better communication device. Need suggestions. :)
True. However, even a mile of range can cover a lot of your neighbors during an emergency. Add a simple magnetic antenna mounted to your chimney top with a cable running into your house and you can easily triple that range using the same cheapo handheld.
While you shouldn't get in trouble using a form of communication improperly during an emergency, you're relying on the government to not punish you. Good luck with that.
Very few nation's had any idea that there was anything happening in the new world until long after it was over. The shot heard around the world was sout was in fact 2 pistol
Shots that killed Arch Duke Ferdinand and his wife in Sariavo and started WW1. SIDE note British soldiers never march across Bridge's A Battalion marching across a bridge would set a condition that will destroy the bridge they always Break Step before the bridge.
