As a Cowboys fan, with little to cheer for or gloat about for years, I love the Lance trade. He's had 102 attempts. The Niners gave up 3 first rounders and a third round pick. Dolphins traded them the 3rd and moved down to 12. Miami trades with Philly to move back in to the top 6. Dallas trades their tenth to Philly. And with the twelfth pick Dallas got Micah. Then two years later we trade a fourth and get the guy who was the reason for all the movement. If all he is is a backup QB, we win. If he can be developed into a system QB who can limit mistakes, but also be a threat to run? That's a huge win. Worst case, they spent a 4th round pick. It isn't nothing, but it is well worth the shot to find out. But regardless, Cowboys got 2 guys who are starters on the defense in Osa and Micah. So that draft was an absolute win for us.

I’m gutted that the niners shipped trey off, especially to a rival like the Cowboys. But i’m glad he gets a fresh start and I hope he can find some success in the league.

The Brett Maher situation really hurt me, I thought we had a great consistent kicker. His leg was great, somewhat comparable to tucker. I went to the first playoff game and watched him miss all them and I cried.

Gallup made huge catches last year. He may not be a 1000 yard receiver (even in this offense) but as a 3rd receiver you will be pressed to find a better one.

Beyond not being able to beat out Darnold for the backup spot - SF had to see something in Lance that they REALLY don't like and see it as "terminal". That's not saying anything bad at all about Lance - different teams have different needs and all. Before anyone wants to think there's something "BAD" with Lance to where he would be shipped off for so little, keep in mind that they are getting ready for the regular season and may just really want to clear the roster spot - if they've made up their minds, why not pull the trigger?

He did beat out Darnold on the field but it seems the 49ers didn't want any type of controversy since at some point it becomes an issue or could become an issue if the backup QB is someone you traded three 1st round picks for. If you don't think he did better than Darnold on the field go watch that last game. Darnold got lucky the team scored with him on the field, Lance drove them down the field for multiple scores including the game winning FG. That TD was perfect, he looked off the safety to the left and came back to the right to the open WR who was able to score before the safety could recover.

As a niners and Trey hopeful. sad to see him go but happy he hopefully gets another chance in a new environment. As far as im aware from what ive kept up with, everyone in the locker room loved him and with my tinfoil hat i think the niners are trying to cut any players or trade any they can afford to make cap room for nick bosa IMO

Literally just has 102 attempts. There is no way in hell that his performance has anything to do with the trade. SF cannot possibly be stupid enough to give up so much for a guy and then, after just 102 pass attempts, give him up for a single, likely late, 4th round pick... Based on how he played in the extremely brief period he has played. They are rolling with Purdy, and having Lance as backup leads to a QB controversy eventually. He was going to be traded the moment the team decided Purdy was the guy. He very well may end up being a bust, it happens. But there is nobody who can definitively say any player is anything after 102 attempts.

You say little... man, with the limited offers, the best they had was a sixth until Dallas offered a fourth. The fucking worst trade I've ever seen as a Niners fan. I don't get why they let him go. Like you said, there MUST be more to it behind closed doors, they literally talked it down like 24 hours before it came to light.

@@Jeromepkr Yeah, he wanted a shot at being a #2 at minimum; but it still seems far fetched to roll dice, assume you won't need him, and accept so little in draft capital for what they paid to get him. From the Niners' perspective, if this is bizarre. People claiming now they can sort out Bosa. With what? Lance's $940k?

Not only hasn't played A full season. He has 102 total pass attempts in his career. The people saying he's a bust are just talking out their ass. Nobody can determine anything after only 102 attempts.

I literally just heard this now i think thats great for us, i think this is daks last year and if im honest hes been ok but his last 2 seasons not what we need he about to be 32 and depending how this season goes which he need to get us to the playoffs I need him to go off , and if we make it to the playoffs we need more than one win or not look like we dont know how to play footbal we have such stupid ways of losing playoffs

Brock is fully healthy yes. Trey is also not good, he couldn't beat out Sam Darnold for QB2. That's bad news for him. He obviously has the potential to be good but he's not going to get there sitting third string and he's also showed almost none of that potential while on the 49ers. Him being good in 2-3 years doesn't help us. The team is trying to win. I don't like trading him to the cowboys, and trading him as a concept sucks because so much was given up to get him. But he's straight up just not good enough, if all went wrong and he was the starting QB, we wouldn't be winning the Super Bowl with him.

102 career pass attempts is getting his shot? They gave up 3 first rounders and a third rounder and all they got out of it was a fourth round pick, and likely one near the end of the round. And the "shot" given to Lance was 102 attempts? Come on man. That's ridiculous.

@@lwolter30 he didn’t have his chance. He had 102 attempts. That doesn’t mean they were wrong for going with Purdy. Just means he has nowhere near been given enough of a shot to say he’s a bust. Maybe he will be, maybe he won’t. But 102 attempts isn’t enough to know what he is either way.

He's had 102 pass attempts. He's played parts of 8 games, started only 4. Calling him horrible is insane. He has a higher current career QBR than Aikman, Elway or Peyton had in their first season. Imagine if the Cowboys, Broncos or Colts had yours and the Niners patience. 102 attempts... Good Lord.

DeMarcus Lawrence hasn't had double digit sacks in 4 years he is overrated not underrated. He should be a 75 normal dev. Leonard Floyd has more sacks than him 3 years in a row

Not sure how they decide who gets what dev in game, but in actual football, he's not overrated at all. He's still hitting the QB, forcing fumbles, tipping passes, getting 10 or so TFL. From what I hear, he's rated as a very good defensive player. And from what I've seen, that's what he is. In game is different. They make a bunch of guys overrated. They'll have Micah, best player in the league in my book, getting 30+ sacks, lol.
