Trey Wingo seems to suffer from what many white men in America suffer from. His judgement is a prisoner to his sense of superiority. He says many things which substantiate this view. First, Wingo says, that he has zero confidence that Watson will "return to form..." Fair enough. You lack confidence about someone else. Not sure what value that has for anyone else, but whatever. THEN, Wingo says, "let's face it, he had some major issues"...while smirking. Now, Wingo is making a psychological assessment based upon his, and Watson's perception of his, moral and psychological health. He is far outside of his lane here...but this is similar to what many attempt in their judgments of Watson. And Finally, Wingo arrives at whether Watson will, "justify his contract..." Ok, returning to form physically...to mental/psychological health...to being compared against a unique contract is such a WIDE slide in context that all it really shows in Wingo's desire to smirk and judge. He's not even talking about the same thing by 5:50 as he was at the beginning, as the headline would indicate. It is sloppy, poorly veiled superior attitude judgment. Wingo should be embarrassed to have his smears recorded.

Last year he ranked 29th in completion percentage and yards per game, he ranked 24th in passer rating, 25th in qbr. And he ended the season throwing 7 tds and having 6 turnovers. He has been one of the worst qbs in the nfl over the last 2 years. Box score don't lie

Around 8:20, Wingo says, "Joe {Burrow} is an amazing athlete, but can he stay healthy..." Fair enough. My question is, HOW is that different from Deshaun Watson. Different circumstances, same concern. The threat to Watson achieving going forward is not whatever trouble he may or may not have been involved with in previous seasons. And the threat is not the amount of his contract guarantee. The main challenge will be staying healthy. Oddly enough, Wingo does not see Burrow's contract as an issue.

Joe burrow has been to 2 afc championships and 1 superbowl in the last 3 years. He is also statistically a top 10 per game qb over the last 3 season and watson is not a top 20 per game qb in any traditional stats. Simply put burrow has more playoff success, and way better stats than deshaun over the last 4 years. That's the difference, people I the national media don't care about qbs who don't play good.

I agree with Wingo that DW's contract will viewed as the worst ever. I believe Watson may have the physical talent, but not the mental fortitude to handle the mess he himself created - despite his protestations of being "innocent". As well, it sometimes looks like his "passion" and enthusiasm for football has waned looked weak or even faked at times. He just looks like he just doesn't want to be there. The Haslams and Andrew Berry made a huge mistake in signing this guy.

Cincy is a terrible example. Watson only completed 55% of his passes for 154 yards 1 td, 1 int, and he fumbled. His passer rating was only 67.3 ranking him a bottom 8 qb in that week. But also in all 3 of those games the defense held opponents to 3 points, 3 points, and 0 points. Watson wasn't really needed nor did he do that much. His stats were nice vs ten.

4-1 in his starts last year excluding the Colts win. The reality is he started the season slow, picked it up week 3 and got hurt. Didn't play again (excluding that Colts game) for a while and when he did he looked just fine. I'm waiting for someone to point out all these bad games he played when he was out there. He was mediocre week 1, kinda bad week 2. Everything else was at least average. People who didn't watch the games shouldn't make comments.

People want Deshaun to be superman like he was in Houston when he had literally no difference makers on the offense besides d hop. He is surrounded by quite possibly the best roster in football. Hadn't played for 2 years. And fought through 2-3 seperate injuries in that time. He will be a top 15 QB, if healthy, just due to the weapons at his disposal. However, If he collapses this year, I don't see how he could bounce back after 3 below-expectation years. Go Browns!

I always value alternative perspectives regardless if I agree or not; however, what I don't understand is how Trey was anointed a subject matter expert on football/Browns. I get he did NFL Live for many years but he never said anything compelling on that show, just a lot of grade-school jokes. In this clip, he said nothing original and he did so with arrogance. Why even come on the show if you're too busy exercising or whatever he was doing...he disrespected the show!? Trey always brings an elementary, often subjective perspective to any discussion. Hit the nail on the head with this one. The Ravens 2nd half is what I keep defaulting too for reassurance in Watson, that and not having played a full season with us and hoping he will find a groove once he does.
@@WSAMP24 I think the telling part for me that he will never be that guy, is the fact Joe Flacco came in off the couch and threw for over 300 yards in 5/6 games. Not a Flacco truther or anything, but he did all of that with the banged up offensive line and virtually non existent run game. When you factor in other qbs around the league playing well with less around them, you have to wonder if he's mentally just not there. Teams like the Jets are thinking SB even media, Falcons as a playoff team, and ppl are still asking if DW can return to form...yet those teams are playing with older qbs coming off achilles tears and have expectations. If he stinks this year, then I'd expect the Browns to draft a qb early. They have no choice and would be stuck with Watson til 2026, unless he alters his deal to get released. It will be an interesting year, but I can say if the offense is all under center boot leg stuff DW will fail. It needs to be shotgun, gun run type stuff.

Browns won but it was the defense that had a 4th qtr pick 6 on lamar. Then a fg won it. Deshaun started the game 6 of 20!
