Armando! Thank you for sharing your stories. I’m Cambodian, grew up in the 80s not gang affiliated but hung out with TRG/ABZ in my younger years. I always found it interesting to hear the other side of the story. I once worked with someone who had families from Longo and heard his side of the story, it was interesting to say the least. Now in my 40s I have friends from all walks of life and someone I considered my best friend is Mexican. It was a shock to me when I found out that Mexicans from other town/cities didn’t beef with Cambodians. A lot of Cambodian youth and parents were under the impression that Mexicans hate us by default. Thank god for the internet, it helped a lot by showing that the world is not base in 1 city. I don’t agree with the bullying or jacking of bikes and what not from the Cambodians, if anger was out of the govt helping Cambodians and not Mexicans, then I think the anger should have been directed to politicians to make changes. For any longo reading this, new and old heads, please try to understand the horror Cambodians were going through, the brutal killing fields, being chased by soldiers, murdered, put in slave camps, dying from infection and starvation. We made it to the land of the free to be picked on here. I don’t agree with anything that went down between the 2 ethnic group and hoped it never happened cuz Mexicans are cool as hell. I’m just 1 person and hope eventually others see/feel this way. I think our 2 culture would actually get a long very well. Anywho, enough rambling. Also, another reason why I am grateful for the internet is that it allows for you and I to communicate without paranoia, or fear of being set up etc. Before the days of the internet it would have been completely impossible for us to talk/chat with one another. Now we're able to discuss, vent, and share our pain to understand one another what the war between Mexicans and Cambodians have caused. I am grateful that my fear, hatred and anger towards Mexicans have subsided. None of that past feeling exist within me today now that I understand how my people hurt yours and vice versa.

The only thing we have in common with Filipinos is that they are Catholics and were part of the Spanish empire for a while. The Spanish presence of the Philippines was a continuation of the Reconquista. It was mainly Mesoamericans (Indios, Mestizos, and Spaniards) who went over there to fight Muslims and Samurai. If it wasn't for the Spanish the Philippines would be Muslim like Malaysia and Indonesia. They also wouldn't be called Filipinos either I think all Hispanos should read up on our history from real sources not tainted by the black legend and not from Anglo sources.

I saw on a gang forum somewhere back in the day. Someone was tracking and listing all the casualties on both sides. It tallied up to over 100+ in total in 10 years and roughly 50 ish ppl from both sides.

@@armandozambrano7611 Thank you kindly sir. I am actually of asian descent but always had a love and affinity for Chicano Americans and their culture, the food, the lingo, the lifestyle. For the first few years of my life my family actually lived in Boyle Heights, near Evergreen cemetery if I remember correctly (I eventuallly moved to the San Gabriel valley). I would regularly drive through and visit Boyle Heights growing up, sometimes just to eat at some restaurants, sometimes due to my dad's work (he was a plumber). I only knew about the sad situation in Long Beach after reading about it online in the mid 2000's. I hope one day, no matter how impossible it seems, there will be true peace on the streets.

I'm from Compton but have relatives from Long Beach and this is the story I've heard. The city were helping them settle in these areas. I get irritated when they deny that blacks were messing with them and it was only the cholos punking them. This wasn't my experience growing up in Compton. I'm Central America I got along with the Mexicans whether they were paisas or not. Intermarriage is common out here within Hispanics and those other groups can't tell us apart they think we're all "mexican" anyway. All these dudes are just shit talkers online. This was also during his gangs war ESL against Sons Of Samoa Gang (after an SOS was killed by a Mexican). He didn't understand the Cambodian language, and didn't like them speaking their native language (even though he knew they just arrived and struggled learning english). He didn't like not knowing how to read Cambodian and didn't like to see it. He's expressed his animosity towards the Cambodian Communities financial growth, businesses, home ownership, and presence in Long Beach. Than he begins to target, rob, and assault Cambodians, including kids (that we're not in a gang) ex: taking their bicylcles. He didn't like that the street Anaheim became the heart of the Cambodian community, from what it use to be. Than he says Cambodians started to defend and protect themselves from him and his gang ESL. He starts killing Cambodians, than some Cambodians created a gang called TRG to protect their community. ESL and TRG than go back and forth in a bloody war (continues till today). Than says that he's kicked home doors down and murdered entire Cambodian families (Were they really gang members, including children and elderly???). Anyone can see that it was a horrible, and terrifying time for newly arrived Cambodians to Long Beach.. Let alone a child. Mexican cartels were also filling the area with dope. He's stated that he's initiated, instigated, robbed, assaulted, and murdered Cambodians. Despite all his effort - The Cambodian Community continues grow and thrive in Long Beach. Anaheim is now landmarked as Cambodia town. To all real gangsters world wide.. What kind of gang targets a minority of non gang members including kids?
