A very handsome loco . Looks very well maintained too . In fact the whole train with these coaches in proper blood and custard must have been a real advance in 1961. Great video as always Oscar

Definitely an advance on the short 9in Blood and Custard coaches. Oscar

Absolutely simple design, sturdy and attractive loco the L1. Looks pretty good running on your layout Oscar. Thanks for posting.

It's a very pretty little locomotive and detailed for its time. Oscar

That L1 is a really excellent example of Triangs L1, lovely condition. How simple it was to get the body off to get to the rugged XO4 motor. Every year I hope that Hornby will reintroduce this loco in their Railroad range. I do have two expamples but not in original condition, both have scale wheels fitted and one has an old GWR tender attached ! Great video Stewart

It's a lovely simple design the steps are a little fragile. It's great to hear you have a couple of examples fingers crossed Hornby will get round to a contemporary model soon. Oscar

I never knew about this one Oscar. It really is gorgeous. I believe the cutout on the back of the smokestack was intended to give an aerodynamic lift to the smoke. David.

That makes sense David and she is a very pretty model. Even more so when she was released in 1960. Oscar

I am still working on my Tirang-style LNWR George the Fifth model. Unfortunately, the tender kit is difficult to construct and requires top-hat bearings, so should I use an original Triang tender chassis like the one used on the 3F, L1, 2P and N15 and modifiy it slightly?

Good morning I’ve never fitted top hat bearings myself. However I do have a number of wagons that I’ve acquired with other things that have had them fitted. The principal look straightforward but as I say I’ve never fitted them myself perhaps it’s worth a try on another item before making a final decision. Oscar

Nice one. Strangely for its relative long production period, I don't thing I ever saw any at exchanges, or secondhand shops.

I think that they are such a fragile model many didn't survive. I have read that over 60,000 were produced during it's production period. Oscar

Wonderful Oscar, love the L1 this is how my L1 arrived back in 1975 when dad started my model railway hobby off, many years later she was repainted, fitted with scale wheels, but everything else remained the same. You can see her here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Q-uQkr7PSU.html look forward to more of your videos. Cheers mate.

Oh the compressor is a Westinghouse pump for brake pressure for the train.
