I live in Florida and I learned a very important lesson during the 2017 hurricane season when we took a direct hit from hurricane Irma. My Troy-Bilt 5550 watt generator was still gasoline only powered. Shortly after the storm passage, gasoline sold out across Central Florida. Six months later I contacted the local propane supplier, Amerigas, and they told me their propane supply was never disrupted during the gasoline shortage. That's when I bought the USCarburetion Tri-fuel conversion kit for my generator. Installation was simple and the directions were excellent. Thanks USCarburetion for a great product!
These were the way to go until the Chinese came out with a tri fuel carburetor a couple few years ago. For $30 or so you had tri fuel and it took only a few minutes (literally) to install.
I've been using my fuel intake to my carburetor to hook the propane to the high side regulator it works fine other than it just doesn't know to shut off Teutons beautifully never seen anybody do that on RU-vid yet
So If I have a duel fuel Champion Generator that is already configured for Propane/Gas - do I need one to add Natural Gas? I would assume the propane side is half way there? Just need the natural gas regulator?
We recommend installing the entire snorkel kit. From the feedback we have received from customers the way the dual fuel generators are setup from the factory for propane they will not allow enough natural gas into the carburetor to run very well or at all. We have had customers try just the buying a snorkel and using their factory regulator but it didn't work well on natural gas.
My 10000e gasoline duromax geberator is running at 5000 rpm on natural gas with the snorkel, is that because of the knob you turned on teh regulator is not set right or does that have anything to do with it?
We have a Westinghouse 7000EC that we converted with your system. This was approximately 5 years ago. We hired the natural gas hook up and in the beginning it worked great on natural gas. It has been extremely finicky the last 2 years. We have now been using gasoline only, because the converter just will not run on the natural gas. It just chokes out! We need help.
my Honeywell generator 5200 KW the manufacturer says if I put your snorkel on my generator it will void the warranty because it will damage my generator you say it won't why do they tell me it will
Hew, Its hard to accept to the average Joe that propane equals out the same HP as gasoline. The numbers simply don't add up. What you don't mention though I can understand why because its a more complex answer is carburetors are not 100% efficient at atomizing the liquid fuel into a vapor. There are many variables like compression ratio, ignition gap, flashpoint of the fuel, and idle mixture. A gallon of diesel weighs 7 lbs and produces around 128,000 BTU (LHV) or usable. A gallon of LP weighs 5 lbs. and produces around 84,000 BTU (LHV). A cubic FT of Natural produces 880 BTU (LHV). Gasoline is slightly lower than Diesel. A Diesel takes around 7000 btu to deliver 1 HP. A gas engine uses over 10,000 BTU to make 1 HP What would really be a great test is to have two of the same generator, one on gas the other propane, and while monitoring frequency (most important) and voltage, load up the machines with varying loads both resistive and inductive. this way we see if performance is similar or worse on propane. The fact is it depends on the machine and implementation.
