Hanging a Tri Tip on a Gateway Drum Smoker is a fantastic way to make a quick and easy meal. Smiley Mondragon with Smilin' Dragon BBQ shows us just how easy it is and how he prepares the Tri Tip. He got the gateway running a strong 300 (325ish) and put the hanging rack in the drum. He pulled out his go to beef rubs from Big Poppa Smokers. First rub that went on was a good layer of cash cow, then double secret steak rub and lastly a light layer of jallelujah seasoned jalapeno salt to give a extra kick at the end. Then he put the meat hook through the thickest part of the meat and hung it in the drum. At 30 minutes we checked on the tri tip and it had reached 127 internal and we pulled it off to rest. we told you it was easy! Smiley sliced it thin and the flavor was outstanding!!!
