That older gentleman has seen some things. He carries himself like an old soldier, notices things that the others don't, and thinks in a way that I can only describe as tactical

I missed the older gentleman's name, the greybeard. He strikes me as being a warrior once, the hawk's look in his eyes as he noticed no rank and how listens and respects and, talks of the tomb guard being fellow warriors. He also strikes as still willing if needed to once more take up the rifle. His hearing is keen and his eyes still sharp as even i, 20 30 years younger than he missed the sound of the M-14 being loaded and, prepared for use, unlike that man.

That is just the problem with the world today. Few people respect the feelings/customs of other peoples If we as citizens of this world would just try a little harder to "get along" with others this world would be a nicer place to live. I admire the respect these viewers have for the solemn situation of this great National Memorial and Cemetery. All countries who have lost soldiers in conflicts/wars with other countries/peoples have similar memorials and they too should be respected by all! Thank you for these videos, I want to see more.........

9:35 This is also the reason why at a forward operating base during wartime you won't see a superior officer being saluted, if a sniper is watching and they see someone being saluted/respected this would tell the sniper who to pick out of the group.

First off, I love what you guys are doing with this channel. Second, I want to explain something that people may see in the video and have a question about. This is in regards to seeing the guards put lighters near their uniforms. Many of us in the military would use lighters to burn away excess threads on our uniforms. This is because the uniforms are mostly polyester for ceremonial uniforms or fire resistant for camouflage uniforms. Thus, by burning the excess thread it creates a bulb of burnt material that prevents the thread from unraveling further. The bulb is small so it can't be seen unless you get your eyes really close. Think of putting a knot in a shoelace to prevent it from going through the eyelet, and burning the thread does the same thing. Plus, burning the thread allows you to get closer to the cloth than scissors. I wouldn't recommend this on normal clothes, as there is a higher chance of creating burns on your clothing. Hope somebody finds this useless tidbit interesting.
@TRYBALS
@TRYBALS 2 года назад
Hey sir, I was wondering that. I knew it had to do with something about tidying up their uniforms but thank you for giving me the exact reason they did that 🤗

I love this. My Dad was a member of the Old Guard back in the late 40's. I'm sure some of the requirements have changed since then. I don't recall him having a badge, but he coveted that time as a Tomb Guard more than anything. I recall a story he told many times - he was on duty one night and heard people talking. Knowing that the cemetery was closed he was surprised to see an officer with a lady friend approaching the Tomb. Dad said he came to port arms and sternly directed them to leave. The officer and Dad exchanged words ending with the officer threatening him with court martial and Dad responded to go ahead, he was more afraid of his ranking officer of the guard than he was of the officer in front of him. Dad was all of maybe 19 years old at the time. He's gone now, but I'm sure he would have loved this video. Thank you for posting. These men and their respectful reactions were so dear, and I appreciate their reactions.

If we ALL learned from each other, traditions, customs, etc. there would be a lot less ignorance and ugliness in the world. Let’s face it, when we get to know each other and learn each other’s backgrounds, cultures, customs, etc. we not only become better people but respect is earned from both sides. One from learning, the other from teaching. We ALL need to learn and teach. Simple rule: To get respect is to give respect.

Throughout the various branches of the US military there are special qualification pins a service member can earn. In the US navy the pins outside of a select few are silver for those who are enlisted ranks and gold if the service member is an officer. The qualification pin I wore on my uniform during my time in the service was the USN/USMC aviator qualification pin worn by any officer in the USN or USMC that is a pilot of any military aircraft. One of the most recognizable qualification pins is that of the USN SEAL'S which is one of the very select few that are gold for all ranks.

Which is needed - since most things we, in the 'West' hear about Pakistan is seldom good. So - it's nice to see such nice people who contradicts that narrative! Great show - and love from Sweden! (And - I saw that the people here are from Sindh...although I believe I once heard one speak of with a reference to Baluchistan...? Or, am I wrong? America is a land of urban legends. We have so many rumors, myths, legends and ghost stories. Sometimes they're scare stories you'd hear in the schoolyard like gross things being found in food, or strangers found lurking in peoples' home, or alligators in sewers. Others involve terrifying monsters and beasts, such as Bigfoot, Mothman, the Jersey Devil, Ogopogo, Wendigos and Skinwalkers. And others are more mundane, such as an intact Bible being found in the World Trade Center's ruins, a video game that deletes itself if you lose or the ones about the Unknown Soldier in the video.

To clarify the Queen situation. She is the Queen of England, however she is known as Queen Elizabeth II of England & Wales, Queen Elizabeth I of Scotland and Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Respect for the honored dead is universal, and it is telling that these fine people understood immediately. I went when I was a child with my grandfather, who was at Omaha beach on D-day, the battle of the bulge and all the way to the end of WW2, and made sure 7 year old me knew how to behave.

Your Grandpa is my hero. Omaha was hell, and the bulge was one of it’s levels. We are blessed to grow up with these men.

I wonder if there is a way to show your respects to Tomb Guards, while remaining silent and stoic, aside from remaining silent and stoic? It's a tremendous weight they are bearing. Peace, From Canada.

Yes is quite interesting how little people know about Islam compared to Christianity here in America. They are more similar than many realize. Yes, there are differences. But it is when people focus on the differences, that is what causes the divide. We should always focus on what makes us all the same so that we come together in peace.
