Yes.. the rice cultivation is affected. I belong to the rice belt of India and every year we have incessant rains and floods which aid in the growth of rice. And suddenly, this year we had very little rainfall. The temperature remained seriously high throughout the year and the rice crops died. @@monicahamm3353 that is what we read in textbooks, but really I live in the western ghats region and the climate has changed a lot, from 2018 onwards every year we have floods, crops ,especially rice rots due to it and it affects our food production. The people of south rely on rice as our staple food. We have a flower called konna which naturally blooms in Aprill, in the last 3 years It has been blooming in December, that is not normal. Things that we saw as problems in books and whatnot, we are seeing it more in front of our eyes.

@songyani3992
@songyani3992 2 года назад
Actually, it had already gone extinct once. The bananas being eaten 100 years ago belonged to another breed of bananas that was much larger and sweeter. But then when the fruit companies wanted to increase the growth by cross-breeding with other breeds they introduced a disease that killed off that breed completely in a few decades. Current breed is resistant to that disease, but it is still susceptible to the environmental change. And edible bananas cannot breed themselves because there are no seeds. Humans would need to grow each generation from ground-up, just like seedless watermelons, which makes bananas even easier to go extinct if conditions go bad.

They should know about soil nutrients and planting the same crop on the same soil will deplete all the nutrients on it. That's why fertilizers and crop rotations are important.
@MarcusBritish
@MarcusBritish 2 года назад
Humans have known about leaving some fields fallow for a season for centuries; it's the population growth that has made it more difficult to leave fields empty for so long because there is so much demand today. That's why we soak the fields in chemical fertilizers now instead of waiting for natural regeneration. Our success as a species is also our undoing.
@Kristers_K
@Kristers_K 2 года назад
The issue is monocropping, which exists because of animal agriculture. You can grow crops in a way that doesn't deplete the soil, but not as long as we feed them to animals, instead of eating ourselves. When you consider that around 75-90% of crops grown go to animal feed, you can see why large monocrop fields are so prevelant.
@ED-yy4te
@ED-yy4te 2 года назад
@@MarcusBritish The chemicals needed by plants are mainly nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus which are made from natural decaying matters. You can use compost or the literally dried bullsht and dried horse pee to get the nitrogen from urea. It became a common issue in channels like this where, like Mustafa said here that they just flow the field and let it grow, then blame the climate change for having a low yield harvest. Don't get fooled by natural good, chemicals bad. Even you are made up of carbon and you can get uranium from nature.
@MarcusBritish
@MarcusBritish 2 года назад
@@ED-yy4te "Don't get fooled by natural good, chemicals bad." Except this is the case, there's no fooling, scientific knowledge is a fact. Synthetic fertilisers are often a cocktail of toxins and poisons that do more harm than good in the long-term. Bugs can feed off manure, chemicals kill them and harm their biospehere leading to less natural pollination. You could get away with eating manure or drinking urea and it won't kill you, but just a sip of man-made fertiliser will definitely make you very sick, possibly hospitalise you and could even be fatal. You can find lead, arsenic, chromium, flouride, etc in fertilisers made from the "recycled waste" of the steel industry because of the zinc - hell, the fumes alone could knock you stone dead, let alone consuming it. Why do you think so many products are now being sold as "Organic" if synthetic stuff is better? All they really need is a good Nitrogen, Phosporus and Potassium mix but some farmers use products full of toxins either because it's cheap or purer stuff is unavailable locally. And that leads to poorer soil quality.

@@patriciamorgan6545 Exactly. I been binge watching these vids. Reminds me of the wonder I experienced traveling the world while in the Navy. Those experiences changed the way I view the world and others forever, in a positive way. I find it odd that the more "civilised" we become, the more separated we are from nature and it's preservation. The older gentleman seems the furthest removed from "normal society", yet seems to fully understand that those of us who accept the direction we're headed, aren't aware of the consequences. He has the kind of wisdom that can't be bought in the most prestigious academic institutions in the world. It's insanity. I mean what sense does it make to have all the money if it destroys the planet in the process; Duuuh! I wondered, but I think the old wise guy answered this question in the story he told, how their bodies felt after eating all our garbage food.He basically said one doesn't consider how they will feel, later after they try new things. He stated he has never gone to school because thet were nomadic during his childhood. However, this has not prevented him from being wise and respected in his community. To me, although they are different, I find them all to be beautiful and lead interesting lives. Not that I would necessarily want to live like them but interesting all the same. @@BmanNL1 I agree but it's not a tragedy that he has his own beliefs. We can take his sentiment just the same and still use our science to continue to make the world a better place. It's not always necessary to point out the shortcomings of others. Besides, he IS a wise man, relatively speaking.

That's because the Musa genus originated in your area- you have real biodiversity there, and that's great. The problem is with fusarium and other diseases ravaging commercial plantations growing monocultured/clone crops of Cavendish bananas. I doubt they'll go truly extinct, but their availability will decrease over the next few decades, especially for people in non-tropical areas.

A good idea, but wells often need to go very deep and i dont think a lot of villagers have the money or resources to take on such an endeavor.

Its too that sometimes people hold a set of beliefs so strongly that they refuse to consider any other ideas. Ultimately this can hold them back. And if they are someone of influence, they could be holding back many others as well.

Because of climate change is occuring right now, droughts last longer, the disruption of weather patterns, rainfall changes.....its a slippery slope for the plants & harder for them to survive & harder to adapt.

And this doesn't necessarily apply to the villagers, though it would be the best for them if possible, but people in general need to start going vegan (nothing from animal products) and starting to replant plants and trees, and letting all beings live safe and in peace with their loved ones. People in general need to use their hearts and brains and be good to all not harming and destroying all...

I knew about most of them - but I was surprised by peanuts, avacados and strawberries, three of my favourites. We need more bees, less pollution and negative environmental impacts fueled by consumer demands. Especially in the west- most people have WAAAAY too much "stuff". They are right- all of these things are a gift and a privilege to eat and we are acting like spoiled brats and Mother Nature is fed up.

Deforestation is also impacting these foods. Particularly this is the caveat with avocado industry. It’s endangered because it requires orchards And the land to produce them which is destroying natural forests in Mexico. Some Farmers are harassed by drug cartel to control market trade so it has made it damaging to natural resources and dangerous in general.

Water resource is indeed diminishing, animal agriculture being the biggest culprit, directly and indirectly. Raising livestock industrially/large scale takes huge amount of resources + the food grown to feed them. If we didn't farm animals, we would save a lot of water, as plant foods use only a small fraction of *what animals do relative to calories produced.* This doesn't include small ''family'' farms with few animals, they don't really impact anything much.
