Happy Birthday! I was sad when someone said they are backwards, or implied they are behind because they did not know about this. I'm an American living in Iran. The first time I went on an airplane, I was a baby. I grew up with all the modern technology. Yet coming to Iran (much more than any other country I've lived in) has helped me realize how much we don't know or have forgotten. When it comes to knowledge of herbs, gardening, animal husbandry, I'm learning from 0. I feel like I'm learning to socialize, as I'm not used to being part of a huge family. American families are normally parents and kids. Here, there are cousins galore. When it comes to things like clothes, toys, lamps, etc., my husband laughs at how my repair skills are so poor. I'm used to a consumer society which doesn't mend often, but instead throws out. Your culture has been around for how long? How Much do we know of it? So we are also behind. I’ve grown up with cameras all my life, from the disposable kind you need to wind, to the first digital cameras, to smart phones today, and still whenever I take a Polaroid photograph I feel like a real life wizard! Watching them develop the old way is so cool! And it makes me appreciate widely available cameras in phones all the more!

Had an old Polaroid camera in the 70s. Haven’t seen these in decades. Loved them. I hope he does go to school to learn. Age does not matter. A lot of people here in America go back to school in their 50s and even 60s to get a degree. Your never too old to learn.

When I was young we knew someone who had one of these, it was like magic to see the picture develop. But the colours fade and discolour in several years.

Polaroids still feel like magic. They were very in fashion in the 90s and then seemed to disappear for a long while. I bought one for my wife a few years ago and she loves it. We now take it and a stack of film to every special occasion and gift the people organising the event the pictures we take.

As far as education goes, books and videos are great, but hands on experience wins every time. You could show the Trybals crew a video of a Polaroid camera but it could never have the same effect as being able to hold and use one and see how it works. And I have to say you do a wonderful job at describing to them the history, science and usefulness of this technology and above all, making it fun. Happy Birthday!

I love how our one friend realizes that it appears faster when it dries faster, and so he instinctively started shaking the picture, just like people here do too!

The story of Polaroid is actually quite unreal. From dead company, to grassroots revival campaign, to buying the actual factory, to restarting production, to BUYING THE NAME OF THE COMPANY. Polaroid is a labor of love, and my little bluetooth photo printer of theirs (Hi-print) is awesome!

First of all, Happy Birthday Adnan! This was cool to see and to hear their hopes for their future, and how it all came from a Polaroid camera. I remember my first experience with a Polaroid and I thought it was magic. My sister and I ended up taking the camera from my aunt and taking lots of pictures. When Muharan mentioned his hesitation to going to school, it made me think that he should see the video about how an elderly woman in Africa decided to go back to school even if it meant she was taking elementary classes. In my family, we never think you’re too old to stop learning. My mother has even thought about going back to College and I think she’s around the same age as Muharan. I really hope Muharan fills out that admission form.

Polaroids are so neat, in a lot of ways they're more impressive than more modern technology because it literally looks like magic before your eyes whereas the digital cameras and computer editing software, while very powerful and impressive, are less mysterious. Great idea to show this to them!

I just found this channel today, and I'm so happy that I did. It's been a dark time in my life these last few months, but these videos give me so much hope. It's so heartwarming to see people experiencing new cultures and finding new forms of expression. I remember when I first started photography and that excitement of taking my first picture. There's something magical about it. And I want to wish Muharam the best of luck with his classes. You're never too old to learn something new, and his excitement to try new things is inspirational.

The internet is such an amazing thing when you think about it. Abdul wasn't even in a video before but now his children and grand children will have a record of him sharing his thoughts and memories.

No, the first photographic camera was invented in 1816 by a French man namedJoseph Nicéphore Niépce (Jo-zef ni-seh-fohr (silent h) and the surname idk how to say it lol), by the late 19th century, people could buy their own but most still couldn’t afford it Happy birthday! Hope it was/is a great one! He’s right, the one he’s talking about is the first Polaroid which came out in 1948, but since the 80s it’s instant (: and you probably still have to shake it and that camera is NOT from 1948 lol it’s since the end of 1998 (50 years/half a century later) and it seems to be one of the old ones because it still has aspects of 90s film cameras and it’s by Fuji film not Polaroid, and this one is an Instax so this one is pretty recent That’s so cool how it all suddenly got solved! My niece has recently gotten into Polaroids, I had kinda just assumed they went out of business. I got to play with her camera a few weeks ago and it was the first time I think I've even seen a Polaroid much less used one in well over 15 years. Was pretty cool, I kinda miss actual pictures.
