im not a shinee fan, but if youve watched enough kpop their impact is seen in every corner. they started dance practice videos. they started so many fashion and music trends. taemin's move is one of THE best and impactful solo releases by a male idol to this day. and as an army im especially grateful coz theyre one of the senior groups that genuinely openly appreciated bts from the start. and i remember their late member jonghyun as someone so kind and so brave because he would talk about things no one else would. i remember in 2015 or 2016 he openly supported a transgender person coming out online when no one else did. genuinely good people who deserve every bit of love and respect they receive

SHINee has A LOT of control over their music and careers which started very early and was rare in the industry in 2008 (Jonghyun wrote the lyrics for their smash hit "Juliette", just one year after they debuted). However, SM realized very early on that SHINee was special and different. They hit the jackpot with the five very talented artists they threw together into an experimental group. Jonghyun was a musical genius who churned out spectacular music for both SHINee and other artsits. He was the very first idol to compose and produce his very own solo albums which opened the door for other SM artists to do so. Minho wrote all his rap segments. Onew, Key, and Taemin also contributed early on with both co-writing songs and for Taemin, tweaking choreos, and Key became their fashion designer for their stages, and in 2015 became an actual fashion director for SM. While it's true that Taemin and SHINee get a choice of songs within the SM catalog of songs, what many don't know is that both SHINee and Taemin regularly rework the songs they choose to fit what they are looking to convey to their fans or their personal style. Rarely is a chosen song the same after they "play" with it. As an example, SHINee stated in their 15th anniversary show a few months ago that they had to totally rewrite the melody of the title song of their new album because while they liked the song, they all HATED the melody. Therefore, they did what SHINee usually does, they re-wrote it. This is why their comeback was delayed by a month. They all have their fingerprints in whatever they produce -- whether when working as a group or on their solo endeavors. In Taemin's case, he is adamant that his songs/MVs match his vision for his albums. He is deeply into philosophy so his songs and the imagery within his MVs often reflect that, as well as his Christian faith. His concepts are not mainstream -- Stockholm syndrome ("Criminal"); Plato's Theory of Forms ("IDEA"); etc... His newest song, "Guilty", which is a masterpiece, was a contender for his 2021 title song instead of "Advice". However, Taemin ultimately opted for "Advice" at that time. That meant that "Guilty" had to be reworked to fit in the his main storyline from he has been working on since 2015, so that it would fit in at this time. He chose to mix the philosophies found in the book by Hermann Hesse, "Demian" with "Erotism: Death and Sensuality" by Georges Bataille, a French philosopher which he recently read. In addition, for Taemin's 2020, 2-part, full-length album, "Never Gonna Dance Again" Acts 1 & 2, Taemin chose the production company he wanted (unheard of in Kpop) and acted as both co-producer and co-director for the entire album. This was to ensure his vision was conveyed as he wanted. It's extremely important to him. To see how much he is involved with everything to do with his music and understand the respect and admiration he holds within the industry, you should react to the mini-doc, "The Artist: Taemin" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m2_MVBxmdyc.html ). It's extremely well-done. As with all of the SHINee brothers, Taemin has several song-writing credits: "Soldier" "Day & Night" "Think of You" "Our Page" co-written with his SHINee brothers "Pinocchio" co-written with BeWhy "Press Your Number", co-writer "2 Kids", co-writer "Heaven", co-writer "Pansy", co-writer Thanks for reacting to our SHINing SHINee maknae, Taemin!

This is gonna be long but I just want to clarify so that people don't misunderstand Taemin in this interview. There's a lot of misinformation going on in these comments since this community doesn't seem to have a lot of people who know about SM artists or how things work for SHINee and Taemin, creatively. Firstly, all members of SHINee have official writing credits on both solo and group work. They just don't do it ALL the time and not always for their title track. Even when they don't write the song originally, the work they do to rearrange the song to fit their brand is usually extensive. Taemin is well known for how much he reworks his music to fit his very specific style of sensual, gender-neutral, philosophical, religious trauma, and existential horror vibe. This rearrangement is what Suga was talking about in this interview when he asked Taemin the follow up on Guilty's creation process. SHINee member's comebacks are a collaborative experience where they have ideas that they want to do then they select and retool the songs to match their vision. If there is no song that matches their vision, they might commission a producer or songwriter to create what they want based on SHINee's notes/input and then they workshop with the writer/producer or an in-house SM producer/writer until SHINee is satisfied with the result. They ultimately did something like this for their HARD release. Or SHINee may write it themselves such as with View. Recently, Key had a vision for his Gasoline album but none of the lyrics shown by A&R fit what he wanted, so he wrote the title track himself. Taemin, specifically, has written several songs for both SHINee and his own solo work. He also has a few composition credits. One of his biggest hits Press Your Number was produced by Bruno Mars but the lyrics were rewritten and rearranged by Taemin and a couple of others working collaboratively. Same thing with SHINee's Juliette which was Jonghyun's first official SHINee songwriting credit way back in 2009.
@raesnest
@raesnest 7 месяцев назад
SHINee members overall have a ton of writing/producing/composing credits starting from 2009 onwards, especially Jonghyun and Minho. Minho has the most writing credits overall among SHINee members since he writes raps as the main rapper. Jonghyun is one of the most prolific producer-songwriters in the industry and he has dozens of credits for SHINee, his own solo work, other SM artists, and artists from other labels like YG and LOEN/Kakao. BoA and Jonghyun's heavy involvement in the early to mid 2000s in songwriting and production actually opened many doors for SM artists to have creative control far earlier than usual in the industry. Senior SM artists like BoA, TVXQ, Kangta, SHINee, SNSD, etc have an increased or usually complete level of creative control over their own artistry especially after contract renegotiating. This is even more so in their solo work vs group work. Some younger SM group members, like NCT's Taeyong, have creative control and songwriting-producer control from the jump. (This is dependent on their contract and based on things like what skills they trained towards or showed aptitude/interest for pre-debut.) Taeyong also writes/produces for SuperM sometimes. This is, of course, speaking strictly about songwriting and producing. SHINee has other areas of creative control. For example, Key often designs SHINee's and his own costuming for comebacks starting around 2015 and he is a Fashion Director in SM and a fashion designer outside of SHINee as well.
@raesnest
@raesnest 7 месяцев назад
When it comes to solo careers, SM group members usually have the chance to go solo if they want with at least a single. If their popularity is high, the company likely proposes it to the artist. If not, the artist can present their desire in a presentation/proposal document and request funding to be approved or not approved like any company employee might. If they are approved, the SM Station series is usually the launch pad for members of a group to go solo with a song or two before working towards a solo EP/LP. Or they feature on another SM artist's song or both. The trajectory usually goes: feature on another SM member's Song > SM Station Single (or 2) > 1-3 Mini-albums (Korean) > full album > continuous yearly releases of full albums or EPs in Korean, Japanese, or Chinese Mandarin. I won't speak on SM's business practices here. That's a whole other essay and there are tons of videos on youtube that goes into the corruption of all the different labels from SM to JYP to Hybe to Cube and more. Like all capitalist organizations and music labels in kpop and the west, SM is very exploitative and corrupt at the top. I do want to mention it as there are some SM artists that do not have positive creative experiences. Amber Liu from f(x), for example, had a very difficult time getting creative control which was likely also impacted by general anti-Chinese sentiment and misogyny in SK. Same for Henry Lau formerly from Super Junior-M who experienced a lot of sinophobia while he was with SM, especially from ELFs (Super Junior fans). There's a lot of classism and weird conflating of songwriting with overall artistic value in recent days that is not the realty of the industry (both kpop and western music). Please understand that almost all music being put out is a collaborative process of several people's input. Unless you are 100% indie and working in your basement to make your music (no sound bites/samples from Soundcloud, etc.), there will be a collaboration of multiple creatives on the song/album. Even if one person writes and produces a song, they are still working with others to get that song to the end. Whether that be a composer, music director, consultant, etc. This does not decrease artistic value. In fact, it often increases the chances for artistic growth and flexibility even if ultimately you decide not to go with suggested changes on a song.

I've read almost two hundred comments and this is only the second one that mentions that Taemin sometimes writes his own songs too. And I even wrote a whole essay, but then I left only a piece after I saw your wonderful comment.

@@avotia Agreed. I think people don't know that while he chose to focus on performance, concept, dance, and being a vocalist he also sometimes writes or composes when he wants. I saw that he also mentioned recently that he was going to focus more on songwriting/composition. I think his time away might have given him time to look into that side of himself more since he didn't have to perform during that time. I look forward to getting more of his self-written/composed work. I've enjoyed a lot of his written songs. Pansy, Heaven, Think of You, Press Your Number, 2 Kids, and Soldier are all incredible songs.

TIMRM stands for Taemin Is My Role Model, which is what most people use to describe Taemin because there is almost no one in the Kpop industry that doesn't say "Taemin is my role model and one of the reasons why I wanted to become a singer and dancer." It's not the name of an album. It's become such a common phrase that everyone in the Kpop industry instantly knows what you are talking about when you say it.

Shinee (pronunced SHY-NEE not shine) is a group that debuted in 2008 under SM Entertainment, they are generally regarded as one of the best live vocal groups in KPop. Taemin, the maknae of the group, was only fourteen at the time of debut (he said 16 in the video, but that was in Korean Age, when dealing with KPop it's often best just to mental minus two years from whatever age they said)- which is an interesting contrast to see him talking with Yoongi because they're the same age, but they debuted a K-Pop generation apart under very different circumstances. Shinee's sound is generally more on the R&B side, and their ballads and crazy choreos are legendary. The other members of Shinee, Key, Minho and Onew, are all talented soloists in their own right, even though Taemin has definitely gone the furthest as a soloist. They're all quite prolific actors as well, having all done movies, tv shows and musicals. Minho actually acted alongside Taehyung in Hwarang and they became good friends, there are quite a few clips of them interacting from around 2016-2018 and they're really sweet and touchy with each other. The fifth member of Shinee Jonghyun, was one of the most insanely talented vocalists kpop has ever seen, even compilations of his high notes can give you absolute chills, he was also one of the first artists under SM to have a significant role in composing their own music. Heartbreakingly, he completed suicide in 2017, the members work hard to this day to honour his memory and still consider themselves a five member group.

I want to bring to your attention a significant and heartbreaking event that occurred in the industry. Jonghyun, a member of SHINee, took his own life in December 2017. His untimely death deeply impacted the K-pop community, fans, and his fellow artists. Jonghyun was not only a talented singer and performer but also a prolific songwriter who contributed to SHINee's success. His passing brought attention to the mental health challenges faced by idols in the entertainment industry. It's a somber topic, but it's important to acknowledge the impact he had on K-pop and the discussions surrounding mental health within the industry.

When Taemin is talking about being 16 and 20 that is in Korean age. So, just so you know, what he was really saying was that when he debuted at 14 he figured by the time he was 18 he would be an adult and have a big change in who he was and in his career, etc. He began his solo career with his debut single "Danger" in 2014 when he was 21 years old.

Taemin has done everything. he has composed several songs for his own album. he is quite familiar with it... he is a 15 year old artist. But just as many people focus more on lyricism and suck at being live performers or not being able to hold a note. Taemin always focused on being an A1 performer in the industry, a singer, dancer and storyteller to the fullest. That earned him a lot of sweat and tears. That's why he is the best according to music critics. He directs how he wants his work to be, for him the concepts are important and according to that, he directs the lyricism of his album, the visuals and choreography and the musical rearrangements. Best of all, whatever he does, he knows how to convey it. That's why he is the most cited kpop idol as the role model even for Jimin. His work as a singer resonates with many idols and emerging artists. Best of all, he is one in a million because he is truly unique, not a mainstream artist and always artistic and theatrical. I don't think anyone else can say the same... considering that Taemin has been pretty consistent at it since his debut single, so much so that it's his brand.

Look up Taemin's extensive discography, both as a solo artist and member of SHINee, and you will see that he has written several songs, but he does not write his songs on a regular basis. However, he has a big influence on the content that he releases and he is involved in all aspects of selecting the songs and shaping his albums to reflect who he is as an artist. Plus, it's not like he just selects random songs to release on an album, Taemin's songs are created for him with his ideas and concepts in mind. BTS also does not write ALL of their songs. The members of BTS do write a lot of their songs, but not ALL of them. Whether you write all your own songs or you work with a songwriter to come up with a song that fits what you want to say and the message you want to deliver, doesn't make you any more or less of an artist, it just means you have different talents and focuses in your artistry. Taemin is the penultimate of performers and dancers who embodies every new concept like it's part of his own being, so writing the lyrics of a song isn't as important to him as long as he is able to be involved in helping the songwriter craft a song that fits who he is. But just because he didn't pen the song himself, doesn't mean the song isn't his own personal words and message. If no one told you that BTS wrote their songs and you didn't know Taemin didn't write his songs you would never know the difference. The messages within their songs are still both very personal to them, regardless of whether they sat down and wrote it themselves or they worked with a songwriter who crafts a song that reflects them.

-Taemins ability to make you feel something outweighs whether or not if he writes. He pushes every boundary when it comes to “good/bad” because it’s still taboo to be different in S.K a lot of younger artists look up to him because they can relate to everything he says. Strings had me in a chokehold for the last two years. Check out his new album Guilty.

Taemin barely had any lines in Shinee's earlier songs (he was very young and his voice was in the awkward puberty phase), but he worked very hard in improving his singing skills and also got more and more lines within Shinee as time passed. It also speaks for Shinee's teamwork that the ones who had more singing lines at first gave Taemin the opportunity to shine, instead of wanting to keep the bigger parts to themselves. Also Minho had only a few rap verses in the beginning, but became a great vocal addition to the Shinee sound with his deeper voice now.

Shinee was actually the second kpop group that I got into after p1harmony. They make amazing music and I’m not saying this in a way to try to convince you to listen to them but I just wanted to put that out there that they make great music especially jonghyun and taemin. Bts are the main artists I listen to but shinee will always have a place in my heart and a sort of nostalgia whenever I hear their songs. Jonghyuns music is so personal and I resonate with it a lot and he had an amazing voice. Back in 2017 he sadly took his own life and it very hard on the community and his friends and family. Even though he’s gone, shinee is still 5 members no matter what. Taemins music is experimental and androgynous which he was explaining and I think that’s why I love his discography so much. As for the other members, I still am going through their discography and they are amazing. They all have such beautiful voices and them as a group is so powerful. They have a specific sound and I like that about them. They also were one of the only groups that came to bts with open arms. They all are such kind people, I remember how open jonghyun was on subjects that are taboo in Korea like lgbtq rights and mental health and depression. He constantly supported the minorities of South Korea and became a safe place for those who felt unheard. I’m very great full for him and the other members for being so kind to our boys when no one else would pay any mind to them 💜

I saw someone say one time that Taemin's music can be interpreted as him telling his story as being a minor/ growing up in the K-pop industry. He had to mature quickly, not living like a normal kid, and how he lost his child "innocence". Shinee are a 2nd gen/ pioneer group for K-pop idols that came after them, you can see aspects of Shinee throughout the industry. Don't get me wrong, I love the song Hard, but it is the least "Shinee" Shinee song you could have listened to!! I recommend that you give them another try because they are actually amazing performers, and listen to their debut song Replay. Some other good song recs are View, Tell me what to Do, Good Evening, and some of their old classics like, Sherlock, Lucifer, and Ring Ding Dong. Try to step back in to time when you listen to the older songs, as an older kpop fan I love their old songs a lot, but it can be hard for people who arn't fans to "get" their music when they are still thinking in present tense. I just feel the need to say this, but Sad Kids never fails to make me cry, like I said Taemin's songs can be interpreted as his life story, and that song just makes me think/believe that its his way of accepting/ talking to Jonghyun ( a member of Shinee who unfortunatly passed on). I think you heard about him when you checked out IU.

SHINee members do have several writing credits, Taemin included. For their group, Jonghyun was a prolific songwriter, and he even wrote several well known songs for other artists too (IU, LeeHi, Exo, etc). But unless they intend to feature a self written song on an artists’ album, SM usually selects lyrics via blind judging. SM artists anonymously submit their own lyrics for songs, other lyricists will also submit theirs, then a panel will select the best submission.

I very much value when an artist writes their own music, but I don't think it's 100% necessary to be a GREAT artist. Writing, composing and producing music is an entirely different skill set to singing, dancing, rapping, performing etc. But what I personally need is for their music to REFLECT them, even if it's not something that they wrote, it needs to be something they actively have a part in choosing, they need to have some aspect of creative control, a role in choosing their own discography. I'm a fan of a few different groups where the music is primarily written by one member, but that doesn't mean I think of the other members as lesser for not having written it. I definitely admire artists who can write their own music, but as long as an artist has some say in what they perform, if they choose music that reflects them and that they identify with, then that's fine by me. I think you can still feel an artist's signature just from their musical taste, I think Taemin was saying that the company gathered a bunch of songs they felt suited him and he had a hand in picking which ones actually ended up on the album. I think sometimes we get a little spoiled because BTS casually strolled in with three of the most talented and prolific songwriters and producers of their generation. The fact that their music is so personal to them is definitely what made me so invested in the group, but the fact that there are some songs in their discography that they didn't have a hand in directly, or that the vocal line has comparatively fewer credits, doesn't make me feel like they're less sincere in expressing the music or less talented performers. They just have different skill sets and focuses, and we know their opinions are very much valued in the music creation process. Like for example, there's a song coming up for you in a couple of albums called Begin that's a Jungkook solo song and I will be as vague as I can to avoid spoilers, but it's extremely personal to him, yet he didn't write it. He tried to, but he was struggling to express himself and ended up asking Namjoon to write it instead. Just from knowing Jungkook like he does and remembering something Jungkook had said months ago, he used it as a basis for the song and made it an absolute masterpiece. Jungkook went on to perform it and agreed that the song expressed his feelings very well.

I think it’s true Army is spoiled because having not one not two but three such powerhouses in writing/producing is amazing. And all 3 spent years encouraging and helping the others learn how as well. Such a supportive environment the absolute opposite of what so many other groups had where they might be able to contribute maybe if the company lets them.

Taemin wrote and composed multiple of his songs, he has the same amount of credits as JK. he also often works with the writers, presents his ideas and suggests changes, which was shared in a interview with the writers. he chooses all of his songs too all SHINee members have a lot of writing credits, Jonghyun for example wrote and composed all 5 of his solo albums and wrote for other artists like IU and EXO and a lot for SHINee as well. he was one of the very first idols to produce his own music, and he fought hard to be able to do so. being able to write your own music and making it sound good is a skill that not every singer has to have in my opinion. singers work with their voices and when they're also idols they work basically with their whole body by dancing and performing. you can express yourself artistically in many different ways. writing/composing/producing is hard and not everyone is good at it and thats okay. but recently taemin said that he wants to try making something himself again

Taemin is just special. He’s an amazing performer and one of the best dancers in K-pop. I love that he showcases younger idols and is secure enough in his Taemin-ness to let them shine. He’s sweet but he’s also a chaos demon weirdo who is utterly shameless. I get what you mean about writing songs, but it doesn’t bother me as much with Taemin. He’s so involved in the concepts and direction of his work that it’s not just a here’s a song, perform it sense that I get from him. Hard is not one of my favorite songs, but I do really like the members of Shinee. The performance with Jimin and Taemin is called Showdown and it’s fantastic. They’ve done two dance challenges recently - one for Hard and one for Guilty - and seeing them dance together is amazing. Their styles are so similar and pretty rare in K-pop. Plus you also can tell they truly enjoy dancing together. It’s interesting. SK is such a conservative country, yet there are several idols that play around with gender and no one seems to blink. Taemin and Jimin, of course, but also Seongwha from Ateez comes to mind. I’m sure there are others I’m not thinking of.

I also admire artists who write their own songs - but the music industry historically had other people writing for singers (Carol King etc) Don't worry All SHINee members including Taemin have written their own songs and never forget it was Jonghyun who fought so hard for it in this industry - first complete self written album SM & wrote for other artists. Minho wrote nearly all SHINee raps since debut @16 - he said he had to rewrite Area (Atlantis) 15 times b4 SM accepted it. Respect! SHINee fight for their own artistry all the time much like Big Bang & others have. Kpop is an incredibly complex arena that many western artists wouldn't navigate so well. K Pop artists like Taemin are multi talented - play piano & other instruments, write, act, produce, sing, dance, MC, do TV shows and perform. Kpop idols are truly amazing & it's limiting to focus on just 1 talent like songwriting I feel.

SHINee is one of my very fave groups after BTS. They have a big eclectic catalogue that started during 2nd gen, and so many great songs (mostly side tracks). Their old debut Replay is known as one of the best debuts, while Everybody, Married to the Music, View, and 1 of 1 are some of my favorite titles (OT5 while Jonghyun was with us just hit different). Taemin’s work is next-level for a soloist (Jonghyun’s was too). Danger, Drip Drop, Press Your Number, Sayonara Hitori , and Move are still faves, and his albums are mostly no-skips. I live for BTSHINee interactions! SM is famously controlling about idols writing their music- it took a ton of time and effort for Jonghyun to be as involved with his work and others’ as he was. I believe Taemin is involved with his albums creatively in other, more general capacities, but I don’t know the details though I should. …finally, not that low-key intro to Taeyeon lmao.

Honestly i personally think if you’re good at singing and dancing but not good at composing/writing music (which are a completely different field imo) it’s completely fine if you can’t do both. Because it doesn’t mean what they sing isn’t about them because a lot of singers like Taemin usually sit down with songwriters and producers and tell them their vision and what they want to sing about, so the song and lyrics aren’t always completely detached from them. Like do i admire people who write and compose their own music? of course i do, because it’s very impressive! but do i think less of singers who don’t? no, because it’s not really their job to if they’re not a singer-songwriter. Just like how songwriters and producers aren’t required to perform their songs. Like if someone is able to do both things it’s amazing because again singing and dancing are completely different to writing and producing. Also there are some producers and song writers who are amazing at their jobs and come together with incredible singers and performers and make incredible music. People who are all talented in their fields coming together to bless us with good and impressive music is something i’ll always enjoy. What i dislike though is singers who pretend like they write their music when they don’t, because it discredits the person who does all the hard work and it’s just not cool.

The way I clicked on this video so fast! Taemin truly is AMAZING. He is a performer, through and through. I highly recommend checking out some of his live performances, because not only is he a crazy vocalist, his dancing is unmatched. The way he interprets emotions through his movement. . .it's special. He just came back from his military service earlier this year. I think his latest album, "Guilty" embodies a lot of feelings he has from that, and he outdoes himself with the vocals. He and Jimin have been really good friends for many years now so this was such a fun episode of "Suchwita". Seeing Jimin get a little jealous and weirded out by how Taemin and Yoongi were getting along was hilarious! I sometimes feel the same way about artists who write their own material versus those who don't, but thinking about it the way SUGA expressed really does make sense. And there are so many talented songwriters out there who aren't singers/performers. If artists didn't choose to perform those songs, we'd never hear them. I think the difference lies in the artists who take the time to choose songs that fit a message or emotion they want to convey, and then work to build a concept and performance around it versus those who just sing and dance something their label hands to them. You can feel which is which immediately. I'm just discovering SHINee, and haven't gone too deep into their discography yet, I discovered Taemin and Key as solo artists first, but they have many sounds and genres they've tackled over the years, so I'd say give a few more a listen, but if they end up not being for you, no big deal.

Taemin has that energy that is a lot like the maeknae line of BTS “friendly chaotic sexualized gremlin” to me. His being close friends with Jimin has always made total sense to me. Very kind hard working but a stage presence that is feral but also genderless. He’s always caught my eye and I’ve loved any interactions he’s had or shared with Jimin. Yoongi and Jimin fighting over Taemin is the most hilarious thing I saw when this came out. So so on brand for their style of married couple like bickering. BTS is ridiculous about meeting members other friends outside BTS, the sheer jealousy they had about the Wooga squad and Tae. 😂 I Need You was kind of their last chance to be successful they had moderate but not enough success to keep the company going so they really went all out with it ( the album HYYH) and it turned out to be a HUgE break through they needed. If it hadn’t succeeded and they didn’t expect it to the group was over.

@milindawilson9175
@milindawilson9175 7 месяцев назад
I see "Advice" as a continuation of the themes within Taemin's previous Never Gonna Dance Again album trilogy -- "2 Kids," "Criminal" and "Idea." With "Criminal" and "Idea," Taemin talks about being involved in a toxic relationship -- not necessarily a romantic relationship, but a metaphor for his relationship with fame -- in which he agrees to be manipulated almost to the point of being destroyed in order to become the artist we see today. But, in the end of "Idea," we see him become free from the box everyone wants to put him in and he comes to terms with his role as an idol. He has now formed his own "Idea" about himself and what it means to be an idol, etc. As Taemin explained during his VLive event for "Advice" -- which came out in 2021 right before Taemin enlisted in military and went on hiatus for the next 2 years -- "Advice" is like the end to the first chapter in his life, and it marks the beginning of the second chapter. The song seems to be his way of saying I am done caring to everyone who judged him and all those haters who spread rumors and misinformation about him. "Advice" is showing that he is now free and confident to be himself, breaking stereotypes and now only listening to himself. Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two performers in the industry, he was made a member of SuperM. Taemin is an Idol of Idols and a legend of legends. (He is considered the blueprint for what it means to be a successful as a male solo artist. He was one of the first male idols from an active group to go solo, and he did it at such a young age, starting in 2014 at 21 years old. He has been a solo artist for more than half his career.) And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion, but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on Taemin by his peers and the industry as a whole. (If you ask any of your favorite Kpop dancers who was their inspiration, they will most likely name Taemin as one of them.) In "Advice" he's basically saying, "Stop trying to put me in a box, in which I'll never fit in." He is also speaking to everyone that says he's getting old, that he's just a Michael Jackson wannabe that doesn't sell a lot of albums because he tries too hard to be edgy, etc. He's rebelling against all those people who are constantly advising him to make more mainstream music, or to follow the traditional Kpop idol style, in order to boost his sales and his popularity. However, as Taemin is making clear in "Advice," that is not who he is and he will never be "normal" or "mainstream" and he is OK with that. In the scenes where you see him covered in ink, I think that is supposed to be him showing everyone how he is no longer the "unstained," cute maknae everyone wants to think of him as. The diamond you see painted on his hand when he is playing the piano, and you see drawn on his bicep, etc. is SHINee's symbol and all the pearl aqua blue/green colors you see in the MV is SHINee's official color. (The large tattoo of a Peony flower you can see on his hip is real. Hence why in the lyrics he says, "I destroy the torso that you were chasing after." In other words, he's saying he's tired of people thinking they even have a say in what he does with his body.) This song was specifically designed to not be like anything he has ever done before. He plays the piano, he raps, he shows off his falsetto notes, etc., which is different than what we often hear and see from him. He intentionally used this song to prove that he isn't one type of singer. People often think of Taemin as a sultry vocalist that sings in a breathy comfortable, less dynamic style. So, with this song he wants to prove to everyone that he can be unpredictable and try new things. Yet again, you can't put him in a box or tell him who to be. Everything you see in this MV is 100% Taemin, including the piano playing. Everything that Taemin's haters like to point out about him and say are reasons why he shouldn't be held to such high esteem, I find completely ridiculous. I don't think that anyone who actually knows him would ever say he has played it safe at any time in his career. If you think he is only one dimensional, and that he is trying to be anything other than himself, then you really don't know Taemin. Everything he does is different, out there and definitely not safe. It's always uniquely Taemin, and he couldn't do it any other way. Also, because Taemin is a member of SHINee -- pronounced like Shiny, as in Shiny stars or shiny diamond, they have a double ee to show just how brilliantly they SHINe(e) -- none of his songs are ever like anything you have ever heard or seen before from him. It will always have a new beat, style and sound. As SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, SHINee is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend, and that includes the members' solo work. With every new song Taemin produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from him in any of his songs, even on the same album, and yet, it still will be uniquely Taemin-like. Which is another example of how you can never put him in a box or expect anything from him. :D Another theme in "Advice" is about how Taemin is embracing his androgynous side -- but on his own terms -- which I think is a continuation of the message in his "Move" MV. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee -- he debuted in 2008 at 14 years old -- he was known for his delicate feminine features. It took him a long time to accept that he was recognized for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career -- he is now 27 years old in this MV -- he is making a statement about how he has decided to be himself and no longer care what people think. Music is art and art has no gender. So, that is why in "Advice" you see him wearing hair extensions, fishnets and women's Supreme sportswear, etc. But if you notice, his choreography is very fast paced and sharp, which is hyper masculine -- a complete contrast to the "feminine" image people want to give him. You also see him wearing makeup, but it's smeared on his face, as if to say, "people may think of me as a 'Pretty Boy,' but I don't care about looking pretty." In the lyrics he is saying, "It's creepy how people are always looking to cause drama, so stop trying to create scandals in my life that don't really exist. It's all just stories you make up." He's tired of all those people who seem to look for reasons to cause drama, where none really exists. Where he says "floppy" in the lyrics, I think he's talking about knowing about or hearing firsthand the things people are saying about him, but he is choosing not to pay attention to them because what they're saying is flopping or doesn't hold any weight or have any substance, etc. "Advice" just proves that every time people try to put Taemin in a box, he destroys it and keeps coming back with something more unique and never seen before. Hence, why in the choreography he puts his hands in front of his face and creates a movement that looks like an animated mouth talking. It represents how everyone keeps talking about him and what they are saying is nonsense, which makes them look and sound ridiculous, etc. Which is why in the lyrics he says, "You will never get the keys to my lock" because he doesn't ever plan to give people what they want and allow them access to his secrets and personal life, etc. (Those people who like to gossip about him will never truly know the real him.) I interpret the "One (piece of) Advice" he is talking about in the lyrics as a reference to the advice he keeps being given about being more mainstream, but he's saying, "stop trying to make me conform to the image you have in your head of who I should be and what I should do." In other words, take all that time and effort you have been using to come up with ways to talk about how he doesn't fit in, etc. and put it to better use. "Follow my own advice" and do something original for once. As a devout Catholic, Taemin often uses Biblical references and metaphors in his songs and MVs. And the crucifixion pose at the end of "Advice" is sort of a signature pose for him. I interpret it to be like he is saying, "And that is the end, this is my final word, take it or leave it, but don't doubt me. I have given it my all and laid everything I had out there for you," etc.

Taemin loves the stage and the stage loves him. That's the shortest way to describe this man. He might not write his music (which doesn't bother me at all, I personally don't care), but he is for sure one of the best performers South Korea has ever had. And also, according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a rooster is an adult male chicken or sometimes an adult male of various birds other than the domestic chicken. Another meaning is "a cocky or vain man" so I guess I'll just start yelling at arrogant dudes "You fcking roosters!" from now on. The first known use of "rooster" was in 1772. Basically this one word is only 4 years older than the United States.

With "Hard," SHINee -- pronounced like Shiny, as in shiny stars or shiny diamond -- is just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And, this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. The whole reason why they chose "Hard" for their title track is because they wanted to show everyone that SHINee can do any genre, including hip-hop. Although, just to make sure you didn't forget that this was a SHINee song, they couldn't just do straight hip-hop. They had to create this hybrid mashup of pop, rock and retro hip-hop, etc. to give this song that SHINee flavor. They killed this!! This will definitely be a contender for album of the year. You can't tell me that you're not singing "hard like a criminal, hard like the beat, hard like ma flow ..." over and over again in your head after hearing this song. LOL We can definitely add this to SHINee's earworm song list. And the rest of the songs on the album are just as catchy. And, switching up the beat and style of the song in the middle of the song is pretty much how the majority of SM Entertainment's songs are structured. It's kind of SM's signature style. You will hear that same thing happen in a a lot of the songs you listen to from SM. This song was written by Kenzie, who is an SM songwriter and producer that has written a large majority of SM songs. She even has her own studio at SM, that's how much she is involved in SM's sound. However, the SHINee members participate in all aspects of the songwriting and producing, as well. That's why it has that signature SM design, and, yet, it's also very uniquely SHINee. The fact that this song is nothing like anyone expects, and different than anything out there, is exactly what makes it a SHINee song. SHINee were designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first, and they are expected to create the trend. With every new song SHINee produces, it's supposed to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them. But it will somehow always have that SHINee feel. This is really just SHINee going back to their roots. Before debut, SHINee was actually training to be a hip-hop group. However, as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag to pull off hip-hop full time, so last minute SM decided to change up their style to the contemporary R&B style of their debut song "Replay" that they have now become known for. "Hard" just proves that SM wasn't wrong, and SHINee has no problem in the world of hip-hop. But their destiny and calling was to be a group that never ties themselves down to just one style or genre. They were meant to show the world that they can be diverse and unique and never do the same thing twice. With every release that SHINee has they intentionally flip the script and change things up in the Kpop industry. That's why, when SHINee makes a comeback, everyone pays attention because they are looking to SHINee to show them what the industry's next song style and dance trend will be. It's actually said that within 3 months of SHINee making a comeback, you will see that same sound and dance style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow, for both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something, the industry takes note and follows suit. You just discovered why SHINee still holds one of the top spots after more than 15 years in the industry. Just wait until you go through their entire discography of songs and MVs. So far, they have 14 full-length albums (8 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), several repackaged albums, a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 15+ years, and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. However, if you want to see where SHINee truly shines, you have to see their live performances. When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and a songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14. However, now, SHINee are known for the fact that there are no longer any fixed roles in their group. The main vocalists can rap, the rappers can fill in as main vocalists, and they are all impressive dancers. SHINee are some of the most well-respected artists in the industry. Onew (Pronounced Oh-New in English or On-New with a Korean accent, real name Lee JinKi) is currently 33 -- the one with the amazing high notes and the colorful outfit -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) He is one of the most coveted male voices, that all other singers dream of getting a chance to collaborate with. His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch. SHINee are a 5-member group, with 4 active members. You only saw Onew in part of the "Hard" MV because, unfortunately, he is currently on hiatus due to his health. He went on hiatus in the middle of filming the MV, and wasn't able to participate in the rest of the shoot. It was announced June 9, when Onew was hospitalized for a short time, that he would take a doctor recommended rest. Therefore, he won't be participating in any of their comeback activities. Key (real name Kim Kibum, pronounced Key-bum, which is why his stage name is Key like the key to a door.) just turned 32 -- in the suit with the shorts/ the pink fuzzy shirt -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. (Notice how Key was singing through his clenched teeth in the last part of the song when they were all dressed in black. And he still sounded perfect while giving off the "Hard" vibes that the song required. Just one of the many unique elements of this song that only SHINee can pull off.) He is also considered SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He is also SHINee's fluent English speaker, and he is almost as good as a native speaker. Minho is currently 31-- the one with the red jacket with the epaulets -- is the main rapper and yes, he is the visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is a top actor, and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies, starting way back in 2011. When not promoting with SHINee, he is almost always on the set of his latest drama or movie. He is also known as a star athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out, just because he likes to work out, but he also is crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And, not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field, and he wins pretty much every time. Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and games and his need to always win. And, Taemin is now 30 -- the blond -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry (one of the top 2 best dancers of all dancers in Kpop), and that's not just by fans, but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular male solo artists, and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. Although Jonghyun wasn't in the MV -- because he passed more than 5 years ago -- in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalists in Kpop, whose voice was unmatched. He also was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. He was one of the very first Idols to be known for his songwriting and composing skills. Once you get to know their voices, you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most fans will tell you we know who is speaking or singing within 1 second, even with our eyes closed, with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. All 5 of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop".

When I tell you I don't even follow Taemin fr, but Advice was played nonstop (first by my SON, not even me) when it dropped. I'm so happy to be watching this with you right now 🥹🥹🥹 Also, it took me several viewings of the MV to realize that Taemin is wearing a sports bra near the end, and I just f-ing love seeing people play with gender. He always has, but that just felt extra bold to me. I love you for checking him out before the interview. Taemin really is something else. You can see why Jimin looks up to him.
@milindawilson9175
@milindawilson9175 7 месяцев назад
Just so you know, the Supreme outfit that Taemin wears in "Advice" is NOT a sports bra, what he is wearing is a long sleeved crop top. Yes, it's traditionally considered an outfit for a female, but he is not wearing a sports bra. If you look for behind the scenes footage of the MV or a vlog from one of his backup dancers, you will see it's a crop top under his hoodie. In "Advice" Taemin is embracing his androgynous side -- but on his own terms -- which I think is a continuation of the message in his "Move" MV. You also see him wearing makeup, but it's smeared on his face, as if to say, "people may think of me as a 'Pretty Boy,' but I don't care about looking pretty."

Answering your question about January 1st. Koreans have a different aging system than international fans (most countries). While you have your regular birthday, but on your birthday, you are born at the age of 1 because they count the gestation period of the pregnancy as part of the baby's age. Thenm on January 1, everyone also turns one year older. Taemin was born on July 18, 1993 and was considered 1 YO the day of his birth; he then turned 2 on January 1, 1994. When he says he was 16 when he debuted, that's in his Korean age. In actuality, as we count birthdays (international) he was only 14 when he debuted on 5/25/08. BTW, there is a LOT more to SHINee and Taemin than meets the eyes. There is a reason why they are called, by Kpop insiders and fans, the trendsetters of Kpop who transformed the industry into what it is today. It is also why they are bona fide legends in Kpop.

Taemin doesn't write his own solo songs, but he does take a really significant role in a more creative director kind of way in his solo projects. He's especially involved in the performance aspect, so the visuals, music videos, and choreography, which are its own form of story telling and artistry. He's definitely a different kind of artist to BTS. Which is why I think it's worth looking more deeply into his visuals, videos and performances as an expression of his art than the lyrics to his songs--even though he does actually have input on his music's messages and concepts. I think the best way to think of him is as a concept artist, and consume his art with that in mind. edit: I think that's also why you can see such a big difference in Taemin's solo stuff versus SHINee's group stuff; Taemin takes a much bigger role in conceptualizing and directing his solo work, and it's got a very distinctive 'Taemin' signature, which is why I think his solo work resonates with so many people apart from his group work. Some SHINee members (Jonghyun, who passed away in 2017, and Minho) do write some of the group songs, though, but not all of them.

His new album is good and he did a tiktok challenge of his new song Guilty with Jimin and almost broke twitter. 4) honestly if I were Jimin I’d feel the jealousy too 😂 5) most kpop groups and idols do not write their own music nor choose what to sing. I like to think that they are more performers than artists but Taemin is different because he chooses and has some say in what music he puts out so it’s more personal. Taemin artistry comes from his dance and voice control plus vocal play.

Then afterwards recalling that while watching Jimin again when he had yet another spectacular most memorable “Perfect Man” performance! Jimin is even part of a quite close group of 6 other idols, started by Taemin, from other groups called the Padding Squad, which consists of other main dancers Taemin & Kai, but also Sungwoon, another of Jimin's closest friends. They even have matching jackets each with the emblem consisting of ea members hand print made into a circle, on a 'padding jacket. Jimin has always admired Taemin, who has been around for longer time. But Taemin has also always admired Jimin’s amazing quality & abilities as well, especially in dancing, especially since Taemin didn’t come from a background growing up, like Jimin did, of not only dance, in so many different styles! Jimin, since age 10, studying & performing hip hop, winning every competition in street dancing. Then studying & performing contemporary & modern dance, but also taking ballet & traditional Korean dance classes as well! Jimin even has managed to incorporate his 8 yrs training in various forms of martial arts including Taekwondo (blackbelt), into his dancing. In 2016 Taemin & Jimin even performed together which they even referred to here, calling themselves the 2 Mins. 👍❤‍🔥😍🔥

Hard was inspired by 1st gen kpop artists like Seo Taiji, it was a node to them. they even used iconic 1st gen sounds it's not something SHINee usually do, since they don't really do hip hop. actually Light from Taemin's album you listened sounds much more like a SHINee's song. i'd say their most representative sound among title tracks is something like Good Evening, View, Tell Me What To Do, Atlantis, Married To The Music. among albums it's something like 1 of 1 with the 90s sound and even 'Hard' (the b-sides sound nothing like the title track). a lot of their works are heavily retro inspired, since they gained a lot of creative freedom in 2015 and got to choose their own songs/music direction. their earlier stuff is more experimental. also all SHINee members have a solo careers since 2014-2018, as well as many other SM artists from other groups. they all have multiple solo albums except Minho who has one for getting to know Taemin's sound more i highly recommend his album Never Gonna Dance Again Act 1, he wrote multiple songs on that album and just in general put a lot of work in it, it represents him the most in my opinion. it has a pretty dark/cinematic sound with a bit of sentimental vibe. he also released a hip hop song in his latest album Gulty since you asked about his rapping

Still, I like to point out that Minho already had some writing credits for his raps in SHINee's first Album in 2008. Jonghyun began his path as songwriter in 2010 and this was seen as very impressive, since SM is very picky and doesn't just allow their artist to write their own songs, if they don't reach a certain standard they have. In a recent interview Minho said, he wrote lyrics to one of his songs but they got rejected by SM. @@mianei2102 Just two little changes. Jonghyun has an official writing credit on SHINee's albums starting from 2009 with Juliette. Also, if you mean for Area, while Minho's initial drafts for the song were rejected, this was more of a drafting process than an outright refusal. He rewrote several times until the final song was accepted. Artists can always rewrite until it is where it needs to be or make a decision to shelve it until a later release if they don't make their deadline for the album's creation or get stuck creatively. Or they can delay the release if they're really close but need just a bit more time.

Thank you for your cool reaction 💜 Taemin is an amazing artist, really. He has only featured female artists except for Kid Milli (Black Rose) and BeWhY (Pinocchio special performances). "Taeyeon not Taeyang," lol. (In my book, Taeyeon is top of 2 or 3 female vocalists/performers, with IU and BoA.) He entered SM Entertainment in an open audition when he was 11. Taemin debuted at age 14 in 2008 with SHINee and their iconic song Replay (Onew, Jonghyun, Key, and Minho). His solo debut was in 2014 with Danger and Ace, etc., and he debuted in 2019 with SuperM. His previous solo concert series was suspended due to the pandemic, but he is (and all SHINee members are) best live on stage. Taemin's recent solo concert is MetaMorph and absolutely genius. His videos for Guilty and The Rizzness are cool. With his mvs, he brings to life stories, using philosophy, literature, religious symbolism, and self inquiry to portray his narratives. In Taemin's performance videos and dance practices, you begin to see his metamorphosis from a singer/dancer idol into well developed and intriguing characters. His focus is the narrative and he imbues each one with what he wants to communicate using his full instrument, from his hair and eyes to his torso, hands, feet, and the dancers are an extensiof his art. He uses his whole body to interpret the story. I love how he plays with the textures in his voice to show the layers and depth of the character he's embodying. His musicality is off the charts. He chooses his own directors, production staff and works with lyricists and composers to create. For example, there is a good video that shows the lyricists for Criminal discussing how he asked them to give the story more depth. He suggested using Stockholm Syndrome to show the troubled character(s). A lot of his work shows the light and shadow of the human condition. In Move, he changed the industry again (SHINee's job since 2008) by pushing the envelope to claim that dance is genderless. "Move Disease" broke out and the song was covered by idols, celebrities, fans, etc. (Jimin did the current Guilty challenge.) Also, In case you don't know, Taemin and Jimin are in a friend group, the padding squad, which is how many Shawols (SHINee World, the fandom name) were introduced to Jimin and a young group known as bts. If you want to learn more, there's tons on Taemin and SHINee and there is a short doc called The Artist, Taemin. For a quick glimpse, SHINee: Odd Eye, Evil, Lucifer, View, Juice (performance video), and Don't Call Me mv, Your Number mv. Taemin: Want, Move, Criminal, IDEA (mv and pv), Black Rose, Advice, Guilty mv, The Rizzness pv, and so much more like the Thirsty mv, Press Your Number mv, 2Kids mv, Sayonara Hitori mv, etc. Taemin is a contemporary dancer with hiphop vibes, known as the Michael Jackson of Korea in the early days. If you have some downtime and just want to relax, I would say check out the videos I and others have suggested of Taemin and SHINee. His concerts are absolutely mesmerizing. He drove fans crazy performing Strings on his slanted 30-45 degree stage in the concert a couole of weeks ago. (He also opened in an inverted, upside down stage.) SM Entertainment claimed Taemin as their Ace, which may be part of the reason one of his nicknames is Ace of Aces. Anyway, I'm because I found SM claiming bragging rights: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZsAzyifQf0Y.htmlsi=LF5ijmq8COUfvrPE

I will never forget Taemin's song Move. It was a huge hit when it came out and was sensational. He is one of these people in kpop who has created his own vibe. So I respect that. Regarding artists who don't write their own music, jk and V both didn't write their music but their music reflect their own personal tastes and I think that's what creates artists identity of performers. V loves jazz and rnb and so his songs are jazz snd rnb and jk is a pop lover and he is a pop star. Artists who write their music will have their personal stories in their music and that of course is very special and touches emotions deeply. But artists are also people who create atmosphere and a lot of performers do that flawlessly. So the Hyyh era last album thing. Yoongi and bts thought that the most beautiful moment in life pt 1 was gonna be their last album because they were broke and ran out of funds. They thought that they had no hope after that but unexpectedly they broke through in korean with that album. It was their first win and got a new following of fans from that album and their sales did very well. They talk about it in the album.

JK is a sell out for the Western, dishonest music practices that BTS abhorred and Jin spoke out against publicly. He’s allowed himself to be used by greedy BSH and 🛵 who is destructive in the music industry and NOT at all respected. He’s known for being dishonest and ruthless. It’s easy to be on top when you’re constantly collaborating with Western artists to make the charts, and having a management team that ‘bends the rules’ and ethics, in general …no respect! At least Taemin is true to his Korean roots!

@@alwayspluto8413 My opinion and I expressed it! You don’t have to like it. He DID in fact, express his OWN opinion that he has more respect for writers of their own music. Not my problem if you’re triggered by criticism. And what I said expresses the opinion of many. If another member OTHER than JK was being criticized, you’d have no problem with it. Stating facts does NOT equal hate. It’s just facts. Get over it.

Not sure if you’ve watched yet, but I’d love for you to react to Jimin’s posted, breathtaking, mesmerizingly stunning, solo dance that he helped choreograph: ❣Jimin “Stuck With U”. Also at same time if you guys could also react to: ❣Taemin & Jimin “Guilty” dance challenge with both Jimin & Taemin. They are not only best friends, but many say just how similar in the way they move, amongst other similarities. Since both are around only 2 min.or less! 👍❤‍🔥😍🙏🥵🔥🔥

15:30 I've gone back & forth on this question for years. I definitely have a preference for singer-songwriters, but I also have a soft spot for well-produced danceable melodies & catchy hooks. There have always been ebbs & flows between raw/stripped back/roots/folk traditions & highly produced/professionally written & composed/mass appeal industry music. It's no coincidence that you can hear hints of the B-Free - RM & Suga aren't really Hip-Hop bullshit in this, because it's a repeating issue that manifests itself in different ways. Bob Dylan went through it when he went electric, LL Cool J when he started acting, not to mention ALL of the Gospel musicians who started doing secular music. It's also interesting to me that we don't necessarily expect the same level of all-consuming involvement in other creative fields. People seem quite capable of appreciating film auteurs who write & direct without looking down on directors who don't write their own screenplays or actors who don't also write & direct their own scripts. We don't expect novelists to make their own paper and/or edit their own manuscripts and we don't expect visual artists to dig their own clay or grind their own pigments. In the end, I think we only harm ourselves by looking down on artists who interpret other people's music, because we miss out on good & even great art. P.S. Jungkook didn't write the songs on, "Golden." He had Big Hit A&R collect songs for him to choose from, just like Taemin did and just like the vast majority of artists in Western Pop music do. Is Taylor Swift "better" than Beyonce because she writes more of her own stuff?

43:50 As amazing as BTS have been from the beginning, they were still broke as hell. There was a very good chance that they would have been forced to disband if I Need You hadn't been successful, but they got their first win and really started to explode after that. But you can really see BTS's utter audacity and determination to exist and go forward in the simple fact that they still named the album HYYH Part 1.

i really respect taemin as an artist. he has an image that is hard to beat. he's legendary to me. and though i don't know a lot of shinee songs i feel like you picked the wrong one to listen. i myself don't enjoy "hard" that much either. they have better songs though i can guarantee that. you should hear people who actually know their music on which songs you should listen to (if you want to)

Bang PD gave BTS an unprecedented amount of freedom. But even they had to present the songs sometimes multiple times before they were considered good enough. Both Suga and Bang PD have described incidents were BPD said you know you will get hate for this but let them go ahead with the song anyway. His trust in RM and later Sugas creative vision was responsible for this greater creative freedom. They say genius recognises genius.

Taemin actually wrote multiple of his songs, he also fully wrote and composed one of them (he plays piano). he has the same amount of writing credits as for example Jungkook, who also didn't write any songs in his album just like Taemin didn't in this one Sad Kids is a continuation of his other song 2 Kids, which he wrote himself he also often works closely with the writers and producers, sharing his ideas and suggesting changes, works on songs rearrangement. he's heavily involved with the production of his work from creating concepts to video editing (he's a musical and film major). and of course he doesn't sing/release what he personally doesn't connect to, he has a lot of creative freedom and his work expresses him a lot. he takes inspiration from his own religion, philosophy, literature one of SHINee members, Jonghyun, actually had 5 self written and self composed albums and was one of the first idols to produce his own music, he also wrote for SHINee and other artists, and all SHINee members have multiple writing credits in their group/solo songs it's important to note that not all writers are great performers. Taemin is known for being an incredible and captivating performer on stage and having very emotional vocals on his ballads. he's involved is choreographing, performance making. while song writing isn't the biggest part of his artistry, he's still definitely a true artist, he's more like a creative director, who is involved in every partpart of the process
