I love Arlene. I started watching WML about 6 months ago and fell in love with her....I would have loved to have had her as a friend...

Class act, sincere smile. To quote a line from a song, "It seemed to me the sunshine walked beside her". The rare kind to genuinely brighten the room. Gabel was a blessed man.

I wonder why she is never talked about in this day and age. I started to watch wml and think she is the most awesome woman ever and I had never heard of her before.

Different times I guess. I think about this a lot to be honest. Actually, I would rather keep her away from the modern spotlight. Legacies are easily ruined by TMZ. Plus, finding cool history is buried treasure. The more people who know about it, the less valuable it is.

Great tribute to a great lady! Martin Gabel must have had something the rest of the world didn't see to have a woman like that! Viva Arlene!

she was the great all-american lady... stylish, elegant, nice, funny, witty, full of energy...absolutely classy... so sad that these attitudes and qualities seem to be so seldom nowadays....

Those qualities were rare in her lifetime as well. - I discovered WML some months ago and in the beginning she was just one panelist among others. And there were all these beauties from Hollywood as special guests who draw my first attention. But bit by bit I learned to appreciate her unique personality. This self-assured, humorous, intelligent and sometimes self-ironic mixture is really amazing and that´s where her real beauty was. It came from her inside. Ah - I forgot one thing: Her voice! Her voice had it all - from infectious laugh to sex appeal. What a great lady.

@@anonymusum Oh her voice! I just burst out laughing every time she said "Jolly good!" in her sultriest voice on WML.

Some panelists on What’s My Line took the game to seriously and others didn’t take it seriously enough. I always thought that Arlene always knew what the exact balance should be. To me, this showed her amazing talent.

Always had a crush on her. Perfect woman, with a perfect voice. Perfect combination of class, approachability and natural ease.

Arlene was truly among the last of her kind. Like Jackie O and Kitty Carlisle Hart and a handful of others, that type of elegant lady no longer exists, to the detriment of us all.

I sure would like to see some tape or kinescope of her on the Tonight Show! She also hosted during the period between Paar and Carson. Joe

With every episode of WML I have watched, I always feel empty knowing these people are all gone. It’s so sad I wasn’t around in their time, I would’ve loved to grow up watching them. Depressing thoughts. But that’s what I get for watching artifacts of modern history I guess.

Indeed, I admit to getting a slight tear in my eye watching this and knowing she is gone--though I suspect that she'd prefer seeing us laugh than cry.

"Does it go around? Could it go around? Oh what you wanna ask is where it goes around?" I remember that another spicy comment followed it: "Bennet, I don't wear one(a girdle)!" Thanks very much for posting this clip. Arlene Francis was just amazing and adorable.
