I used to live not far from Belevue on Furnival Road Gorton my sister, friends and i were always there , we used to lovebthe fairground rides. I remember the ghost train, the waltzers, water chute and scenic railyway. Also went to see the group The Sweet at the Kings Hall November 9th 1973 with my friend lynn and her older sister Karen i was 10yrs old at the time my very first concert and loved it. There were a lot of famous groups who played there such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix,Led Zepplin, The Jackson Five, Rod Stewart, The Who, Elton John, David Cassidy, Slade, Jerry lee lewis, The Clash, Bob Marley and The Wailers and many more. Bellevue was a fantastic place and it was a sad day when it closed its doors for good. Im just glad i have my memories of the good t8mes i had at Belevue.
I lived just off Kirkmanshulme lane and my mate and me were always sneaking in through the large gates at the back of Belle Vue, they had been damaged by a lorry at some point and that left a small enough gap for us to get through, bob down under the window of the security hut and away we went, i remember us watching the speedway riders doing their practisiing on one occasion in particular Peter Collins, who if i remember correctly owned a shop facing the the front of Belle Vue on Hyde Road. We saw a little of Slade one early evening, we had sneaked in to Belle Vue (as usual) got to the building where they were playing, had no tickets as many others didn't that were on the outside but some much older lads forced the emergency doors open, we followed them in and managed to see the last 20 minutes and loved every second of it, Slade are still my favourite band of all time.
aahh my childhood captured. My mum used to work at Belle Vue, so every holiday from school I was FORCED to go there with my mum! I loved it and because my mum knew everybody there I was treated like a celebs kid at Harrods. I love animals and as a kid this was my playground. Giraffes, penguins, lions, snakes, hippo, rhino and all the other animals I used to 'help' feed.
Red Ricky thank you so much for uploading this wonderful video and I love this tune as well. Belle Vue was wonderful memories for me as a kid . It was still going pretty strong when we moved to Canada in 1978 . I was very upset when I heard it closed 😔😔.

i went to Belle Vue as a kid in the 70's, and then ironically i ended up working here in the nineties when it had just re-emerged as a cinema, bingo with restaurants etc.. Unfortunately...the criminals brought the restaurant i was working in down.They had been robbed that many times by 99/2000 customers were scared off by its reputation and it ended up closing. sad really...it really was a bad place to work at the end.
"Shoot the rapids". Clever stuff if you had never been on it. You climbed up the stairs, went in to a small room, you would hear a noise of the machine then, the floor dropped away, leaving you on a wide belt which decended at 45 degrees and about 30 feet in length. Remember it well as I could ride it stood up and jump the end. (always got bollocked for it.)

sorry just to add, every customer at the end had to be face checked via intercom and then come through a set of timelock doors...it was like going through security at manchester airport to get a pizza!!
